Nice thread Aps ji.

There is no need to be a hero to be successful, flawless character. Even maryadha Purushotham Ram has his own flaws. Even somebody admires Ravan for his qualities . Always Bengali literature have bold approach & it is realistic & we can easily connect.

First about

Imlie: We are seen all her qualities along with that we cannot say she have no flaws. Even she trapped in a situation & get married, her principles doesn’t allow her to think about another marriage or stuck in such a hopeless marriage. She neither questioned or asked for rights from Adhithya & neither open up to her mother & daddy calmly about the situation, for this facts we cannot fully blame imlie since she can’t think anything at that point. She priorities everybody’s emotions above her own feelings , but we cannot live like that always even though that done moment we think of ourselves then we will get blamed as selfish. This was what happened in imlies case. Even she was ready to tell the truth to her mother & dadda after some time about Adhithya’s marriage actually she can only do that much. She feared about safety of Adhithya without even think if he is in Delhi her villagers can’t do much harm to him. ( mud spa we cannot calculate there he was willing to die for imlie) . She allowed life to move as such even as a servant without demanding anything from anyone but this was shaken her from inside.

All her respect to marriage symbol came from her mother. Even she never questioned her mother about her most valuable right. Her fear to demanding right comes from the issue that she was denied by the greatest right of her life . Every child have a right to know who is his father / mother single parent child suffers more than a orphan… all along her life by seeing mother’s condition.

We cannot blame imlie for valuing marriage even Adhithya didn’t acknowledge it.

Even she feels upset on seeing AM 2gether or even she suspects Adhithya’s intention she never hide it openly talked at first instance… she is not depicted as a Devi , she is a women with all hurts , fear , and emotions.

Due to her naivety she does love everybody… and craves for a family she missed. A village girl have little exposure can be so naive and cannot act as selfish so easily…

In Adhithya’s words itself Rishtha par Vishwas he but no Vishwas in person with whom ( old case ) but initial days it may be also one of the reasons that she became silent and left the things to kismat and never take any action, here also we cannot expect much from18+ year girl maybe she can respect her marriage symbols but never knew about marriage life …to demand anything & have confidence about the attitude of person can changed .

Okay I know I am inviting a lot of flak with this thread and also that I may be attacked on multiple sides with my opinion, but I could help but share my thoughts, specifically after reading some essays by recent converts.

One of the reasons I have always felt Imlie was different was because everytime I watched it, I could connect with it on a very basic level. While I agree that the situations shown are outlandish and illogical many times, but still the basic emotions and reactions seemed real and plausible to me, even with the current track.

Hence I would love to say today that I am happy that our show does not have any hero or villians. Our leads are not people who only exist on paper - they're real flawed people who make mistakes and suffer the consequences of their mistakes. Our leads are like regular people we find around us, just in extraordinary situations.

Take Imlie for example. She is a smart, brave and compassionate girl put in a situation not of her choice, yet making the best of it. She was forced to marry someone she had just met and knew was committed to someone else, which made her always feel guilty of taking something that was someone else's amanat. Adi continued to build that guilt over a very long period and that coupled with the fact that the person Adi was committed to is her own sister made the situation much more complicated. Yet Imlie never let that big her down. She lived her life the way she felt she should - king size. She earned love, relationships and support with her attitude and nazariya towards life. She felt horrible to lie to people who trusted her, and is still willing to hear their cruel and harsh words as a penance to that lie even today - though neither the situation nor the choice to be Adi's wife was solely only hers. While again the situations may seem outlandish and her saving Aditya and her doing her kaarname may seem too OTT for people, Imlie still feels real to me. She can be any normal, sweet 19 year old sometimes - just put in an extraordinary situation that none of us can ever imagine being put into. Her choices and reactions have always felt connected to her character that I could root for, as her core has always been genuine and good - is she a heroine in the traditional sense - of course not. Is she flawed - yes she is. But still we love her and root for her because her journey till date has been of someone who has come out of adversity to make something of themselves with the support of people earned due to their swabhav and attitude towards life.

Now to our most controversial character - Mr. Aditya Kumar Tripathi. Our lead who is as flawed as they come and is absolutely no hero. Then why, do you ask, that we are invested in his journey. Why do you ask that we do not boycott this story for showing "Adultery" and apparently influences people to follow him and do the same. Well because even if people do follow him from day 1, they will still learn a lot - both good and bad. AKT has been the most flawed and complex character I have seen on ITV. Reason being is that he has always been one to listen to his heart. He has had such a beautiful arc throughout these 230+ episodes, that you can see how he has grown as a person, which is something that we can learn from as an example. Adi is a regular person who makes mistakes and is facing the consequences of his mistakes, even today. Adi chose to ignore Imlie's warnings and thus had to marry her to save his life. He chose to get her to the city and landed up keeping her in his home - thus had to face the living embodiment of the zabardasti that he had to endure. He chose to deal with the hit to his ego in the worst way possible by constantly berating Imlie and making her feel horrible about herself and putting both of them in this impossible situation and had to be buried alive by Satyakaam to realise the impact that had to Imlie's psyche. He chose to hide the truth from Malini and get married to her and has to face the consequences of that choice even today, where Malini is hell bent on destroying his marriage with Imlie to get back to the days that Adi once promised Malini. Adi chose to get Imlie back everytime they seperated, which today has led them to form this beautiful sajhedaari where both experience the soul connect they have with each other. Adi chose to nibhao his marriage with Imlie because he realised that he loved her and today he is able to do so because he has proved time and again how important she is in his life. Adi chose to keep Malini in the dark and after telling the truth to carry on with their friendship, which today had fed into her delusions that assume that removing Imlie out of the equation will lead to Adi and Malini living their version of happily ever after. He hid the truth from his family and is facing the consequences of seeing his wife hear taunts from his mother for a choice he made.

So anyone who wants to say that Adi is a cheater and that supporting him is doubting our moral compass has clearly not seen this progression. Either they expect that Adi should be this upright, always correct, one toned, textbook hero - which he is definitely not. But is he a cheater - of course not. Did hi commit adultery - no way, he was married to both the ladies in his lives (I am not going into the legal and illegal wala argument here, coz that will never end). Did he commit bigamy - yes he did and he is still suffering the consequences of it even now. Should he have been sent to jail - ideally yes, but unfortunately that ship sailed a long time back, so there is no point in beating that dead horse.

I cannot complete this post without mentioning Malini as well. Malini's character has always been one who is supposed to be the person people will feel the most sympathetic for. She was supposed to be the beautiful, mature professor who unknowingly got pulled into the dynamics between Adi and Imlie through a choice made by Adi and her own decision to not follow through on the truth that Adi told her before marriage. Malini has always been given a free pass as she was the one who was wronged by the 2 people who she had apparently trusted the most (while that is definitely debatable - she had signs all around her but jaan bujhkar played ostrich and at last blamed the woman for a choice her husband had made), but her actions after the truth reveal are not ones that can be ignored. She chose to find out the truth about her father, promised Mitthi to give Imlie her rights, yet promptly ignored all that when it came to getting back what she felt was hers. She promised to give Adi a divorce and support Adi and Imlie to start a life together, yet has consistently made choices that are contradictory to that promise. She has time and again lied to both Adi and Imlie to further her cause of owning Aditya again, even if it is against his wishes. It is very easy to say that Malini is being made negative to show Adi and Imlie in a good light. Malini is turning her personality because that is who is actually is. She is someone who has been shakki, putting the blame on others for her predicament, manipulating others sentiments to make herself look good and even to an extent assuming that people owe her for being good and "sacrificing" her needs for them, even if they did not ask for it. Again Malini is also facing the consequences of her actions to choose to live in her delusions and not face the fact that Adi and her were never going to live happily ever after even if Imlie was not in the picture. That is why she is constantly facing rejection from him - he has clearly told her his feelings, but she chooses to ignore that to only believe something he once promised her without factoring in all his actions after. Here also Malini is flawed and someone not to be emulated - again the character is being used to show what happens when you choose to live in delusions to suit your purpose without facing reality.

So in conclusion all I want to say is that the fans of the show are very clear on why we are invested in the journey of Adi and Imlie - not because they are ideal or heroes, but because they are beautifully flawed humans who bring out the best in each other.

I think you have a typo

they are beautifully flawed criminals who are disgusting souls

Imlie: We are seen all her qualities along with that we cannot say she have no flaws. Even she trapped in a situation & get married, her principles doesn’t allow her to think about another marriage or stuck in such a hopeless marriage.

But her principles allow her to break someone elses marriage

She neither questioned or asked for rights from Adhithya - hahaha go back to watch the episode where Aditya marries Malini

She priorities everybody’s emotions above her own feelings - Correction...she pretends

She allowed life to move as such even as a servant without demanding anything from anyone but this was shaken her from inside. - Not shaken...planning from inside

We cannot blame imlie for valuing marriage even Adhithya didn’t acknowledge it. - But Malini is wrong to acknowledge her marriage which both Aditya and Malini willingly agreed upon

Due to her naivety she does love everybody… and craves for a family she missed. A village girl have little exposure can be so naive and cannot act as selfish so easily… Imli and Naive? What a joke

Jhakaas post aps🤗❤️

Yes I dont want a flawless hero who commits the sin of living with a woman he does not love just to appear righteous. Yes I would have been happy if malini had taken him to the courts for committing bigamy unknowingly hi sahi par usne kiya . In adis defense I would have been even happier if malini had really listened and pondered over his forced marriage truth confession before the adi malini marriage happened or if adi had insisted on not getting married until they sorted out the forced marriage situation.

I love adi because he has always made a 100 percent effort to right every wrong once he realized the consequences of his actions. He is committed to imlu whom he is deeply in love with and goes all out to protect cum nuture her. When he was married to malini he was truly committed to her even though it was a marriage of convenience between two friends who gelled well together. Adultery ka naam hi nahi ut tha kyunki he has been loyal and committed to both women at different stages.

Wonderful post and a necessary one at this time.

Have commented my thoughts and sorry they won't follow uniformity as I tend to put down whatever I feel and combine points.

As GM himself has said, ITV has been used to decades of ideal hero and heroine who are akin to God themselves. This is what has to change.

When people can accept bold topics in web series, why can't they open their minds to a different facet of ITV where for once the leads aren't unbelievable, picture perfect characters who cannot commit any blunder.

If it were so easy to comprehend the characters, to jump to conclusions by watching a few random clips and promos without following the serial, makers wouldn't have taken 200+ episodes to show this change, this transformation.

Supporters of Malini (M fans) just see that we are putting our points against them because we have to justify the leads. Some claim to not make posts because Adi-Imlie fans jump at them and provide justifications. What they don't understand is we reply there because the points they make in pure hatred or in favour of their idol show they haven't watched the entire arc of the characters itself!

The show did not promise us completely black and completely white characters. The characters were intended to be grey. When this has been known from the beginning, why do people who cannot handle such plots or characters even watch the show?

People talk about alternate methods of how they could have gone about things like Adi should have told his family etc. But honestly, when we are put in situations we haven't ever thought we would be in, will we be able to come up with time to debate over which action or path to choose? Don't we go ahead with what we feel is right then irrespective of whether it is actually right or not? Sometime later at hindsight we register that we should have done like this.

That's exactly what all the characters have done.

It's said during trying situations, what our core consists truly comes out. It's then coated on with layers of anger, disbelief and helplessness.

The three main people of the show, each has been put through trying situations and each has had their own responses to it.

Imlie - selflessness is present within her core and all her actions hold that essence. She doesn't do it to please or become mahaan, she does it because that's how she is! People call her manipulative - easy to do that right. Even at this point we can see how people target the woman for everything. She should have controlled, she should have gone, she shouldn't have given in etc etc. Nobody wants to bother about the fact that she is the first wife and that what Adi did was wrong to both the women and that it is Adi's choice to be with Imlie. When this point is raised, people conviniently skip to the legality of the marriage. This is what I love about the show as well. This is exactly how people react in real life and by showing this, the show is making the viewers more aware of this society. No one's claiming some tracks haven't been illogical or OTT but how much ever I and many others don't like it, this is a daily soap and at places, the drama quotient has to be kept up due to TRP.

Here, I also want to make one point.

Imlie's love for Malini has been hypocritic? Seriously?

People claim so because she wore sindoor.

Now please answer me, how does she wearing Sindoor be betraying Malini? She has worn her sindoor in the name of her husband. It's not her fault that Malini's husband is the same as hers. And she has not gone about flaunting it. It was a gift from him which is why she wore it.

Actually Ts are the faces of our very society. As long as Imlie was just the servant girl who was working according to their wishes, she was fine. When Adi chose her, she was blamed. A 19 year old was blamed to have phasoed an apparently 30 -32 year old man. 🙄

( And after what Malini is doing now and even what she did during the Sindoor kand - please care to see who is hypocritic and who is not!)

This show is her journey and if people dislike the character or hate it, don't follow the show - as simple as that!

AKT - whatever has to be said has been said time and again by various people and Aps Ji, you've said it here too. All I have to say is that he was wrong - yes ofc he was wrong but hasn't he accepted that he was wrong? Isn't he facing the consequences for his fault? And honestly tell me which ITV males have actually had the guts to accept their faults and that his ego got in the way like Adi did infront of SK and Meethi?

And would like to clear it to some people who commented that SP is promoting Jeeja-saali relationship through Adilie - Adilie got married first and M is Imlie's sister. So what does that make her and Aditya's bond? Think about it before simply commenting guys - this one's logical even if anything else is not.

Now coming to Malini -

Her reactions to all of this and especially the current track especially has been 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄😑😡

I'm not getting to her entire journey from beginning. I'm just speaking keeping the current track in mind.

She was wronged - yes. Did she do anything abt it - No - All she did was wallow in self-pity.

And now whatever she is doing - how can people even justify it?

Malini makes mistakes - writer hasn't written the character properly. Makers are making her negative to justify Adilie and a whole rant on the mistakes of the team.

Adilie make mistakes - they are EMA couple, adultery, pathetic, outrageous, regressive, disgusting etc etc etc..

*Slow claps* for these people

When we say M is delusional etc, she has proven it as well. She has shown her desperation as well. The way she slaughtered her dignity and self-respect during that dance - if it's expected we sympathise with her after all of this or term these actions of hers as done under influence - Sorry I cannot!

They made her character so picture perfect in the beginning that people now don't want to accept her grey and actual side. Makers aren't showing anything which she is not.

Have a lot more to say. Will add as and when I gather my thoughts.

Am not here to predict a doomsday but don’t agree with some of the posts ..this show is hoping the guil khan usual way of villians become hero’s and its a matter of time before this show also sinks ..just a matter of time !!!

Its is disheartening to see Ms Gul Khan always but always resort to extreme violence and a plethora of vamps or villans …they take up all screen space and time and leave the audience with a horrible taste someone posted to to say all are natural characters with human qualities ..good lord really !!!

Ofcourse if you give feedback you will be ticked off and will be told that gul khan does not care !!!

Care she will have to ….with so many of her shows never lasting more than a year or two ..look at isq par zor nahin and some other shows that’s tarted so well and went steadily down hill

Like i said some Gul khan never learns
