Okay, on the "criminal" tag that our leads get, I want to play a game of KBC - Kaun Bana Criminal in Imlie. Let's go, @Midnight_Moon, would need your help to be my legal guide on this:
- Adi - Adi committed bigamy by willingly marrying 2 women, though in his defence, he assumed the first one was void at the time he married Malini. But of course Malini did nothing about it even after she learnt the truth, so him not getting punished is on her.
- Imlie - Okay, this one I do not get. How is Imlie a criminal. Her hiding the truth from Malini does not make Imlie a fraud, so I don't think there could be a case there, unless being an accessory will put her in trouble (Midnight ji some help here). The best I can think of would be for blackmailing AC - but AC has a host of cases against her that yahaan par bhi koi case hone se raha - so currently Imlie looks to be out of jail for now.
- Malini - Ooh madam has done a lot of things that can put her in jail. Suicide is a punishable offence and madam has done it twice (second time was fake, but other than AC&DC no one knows that). Also she covered up her mother kidnapping Adi, which makes her an accessory as well, so that could put her in trouble as well. And do not get me started on the chindi chori - sari chor, tel chor, roti chor aur pata nahi kya kya.
- Satyakaam - Well he beat up Adi and buried him alive (Adi deserved it and more, but oh well, semantics) as well as is a krantikari, which sometimes does not bode well for him. But since he has been cleared of all charges, we can call him a reformed criminal.
- Dev C - Well he can be tried for defrauding Mitthi and tellings her lies, leaving her pregnant and cheating her. Also cheating AC and Imlie as well if they come to it.
- Anu C - Oh, this one has a chargesheet a page long. She abused Imlie and assaulted her with a tubelight, lodged a false complaint against the T family, kidnapped Adi and got him beat up, poisoned her daughter and passed it off as a suicide, man the list seems to get longer by the day.
- T family - These people can actually go to jail for the way they are treating Imlie and for locking Adi in a room, as well as falsely accusing Imlie of being the reason for Adi's kidnapping which are very real, unlike the false charges that Anu put against them.
So yes, the entire cast of characters are criminals who have done a crime sometime or the other. Calling only Adi or Imlie as criminals will be doing injustice to the efforts made by the rest of the cast, specially the C family and T family - kitni mehnat ki hai itne saare crimes karne ke liye - you are completely undermining their efforts.
So yeah, our show is filled with criminals - but we are good with that. See as per my experience with ITV, har serial main koi na koi lead does stuff that can term them a criminal - so having a holier than thou attitude on that while saying that only our leads are being whitewashed - well that shows why you are a true fan.
