Theatres need to reopen for the sake of people working in movie halls. They also need to earn their livelihood, and not only that, if cafes and gyms can be open, why not theatres?

People are dismissing entertainment here as if it is a trivial thing. In India, entertainment is HUGE. It's second only to bread-and-butter, and let's not forget, it is bread-and-butter for millions.

They are already open in Delhi-NCR, where I live. Have been open since June, actually.

of all things, cinema halls atleast the big plexes have actually been remodelled as per social distancing norms, so I dont see any point of singling them out jab sab kuch khol dala hai with barely any adherence of the tsafety rules, bas khilone bech lo

Agree. Even I was against opening of cinema halls till a few weeks back when I saw the govt literally opening everything left right and centre. Unlock phase 4 pe they are also opening metros , gyms are open, weddings are happening all around with 100 people together so really don't get the point of them closing down cinemas which is going to be a controlled environment. Not more than 30% people. It would actually be safer than air travel tbh. And most importantly, going to cinemas is voluntary. No one is forcing anyone to visit the halls unlike say a school, college, work or exams. So really don't see a problem.

Also if the govt doesn't want the halls to open, atleast give them financial aid. Relax GST for a few months unless they can bounce back. The govt has done absolutely NOTHING for cinema halls which is disappointing since they earn so much from the entertainment tax from the same theatres the reason why our ticket prices are so high. :(

Cinema halls should not be opened now since there has been huge increase of covid 19 cases in India now, also I think people will not be ready to go to cinema halls since there will be fear in people's minds regarding contacting covid 19 from the cinema halls where there will be 200 people with no or little social distancing in one room for 2 hours so people will never be ready to go cinema halls now if cinema halls will be opened and also most people of India are suffering from financial problems and unemployment problems due to covid so why will people waste their precious money on watching films when there is a huge risk in their health of catching virus because of watching films on cinema halls and for entertainment I think people have got more options now like TV shows, watching new films on ott, web series which is more safe for them now because of covid than watching films on cinema halls. Because of these reasons I think cinema halls should not be opened now. I think the best option now is to open cinema halls only when the situation of covid 19 will get better most probably next yearsmiley20
