I will not vote. coj I m in dilemma. as u said about the fierce, as a personality, I like Sivagami more. Jab woh chalti hai pura jahan ek dar plus respect k saath silent rehte hai, sab dekhte rehte hai. but she did a mistake too. She make a decision in anger, she couldn't control her emotions. on that side Devasena is a winner. so it's a tie for me 😆

My opinion-
Both the sons were unfit rulers for Mahastami. Not one was ready for sacrifice to preserve the kingdom. She saved life of bahubali and got her generation destroyed. Unless I am missing another child or grandchild, her lineage is dead. She actually saved life not once but twice of the people who would end her blood line.

Devsena is feminist prototype turned ma from Karan Arjun. "Mera Bahubali (karan Arjun) aaeyga". Shut up. If you are that awesome, then run and fight for your kingdom. So many freaking people lost their life saving that idiot. And let me not start with the fact kingdom ended up with bhalla who was tryant. Poor Mahastami. What did they do to deserve these morons?

Like I said the kingdom after shivgami was a mess, I have no hopes from that new (questionable) bahubali. 😛 😆

it's Mahismati not Mahistami re 😆

I read an interview of the author of the books recently, and if I remember right, he said he was given a free hand to write the story as he liked and create other characters and so on, as long as he preserved the character of Shivagami. I don't know if that means we can count it as a prequel to the movies or we're meant to read it as a separate world altogether.

It is, but this book is written with the blessings of Rajamouli who wrote the foreword. He talks about how the universe of Mahishmati was expanding and they had this incredible stories to tell but could not fit in the film. He also talks about how he loved reading but could not finish books because he did not find them engaging until he happened upon a book written by the author who eventually wrote the Shivagami book. It's some Asura book (forgot the name) and I forgot the name of the author but vaguely remember he is a script writer for for religious and mythological serials. He apparently sent SSR copies of the chapters of the book as he wrote them to get his input. So IMO we can count it as a prequel since it was written with SSR's knowledge and input.

I can also say the book fits seamlessly into the BB universe. It's got Kattappa's family, Shivagami's family and Bijaladeva's father and brother too.

Tsk, Tsk CP have some faith in Devasena. 😆. I too have no faith in Mahendra, but in Devasena I trust to make him a fit ruler for Mahismati

Both are brilliantly written characters but Devasena stole my heart the minute she came on screen. However Shivagami with that awesome walk of hers and slaughtering the small army with help of Kattappa in BB1 was BADASS

The background of Shivagami as a young girl is indeed incredible and so was her rise. There is a book released called 'The Rise of Shivagami'. It is an incredible read and it gives you back ground about not only her, but Kattappa, Bijaladeva and his younger brother (Amarendra's dad). Worth a read IMO.

Wow this looks interesting...thanks for this info

Shivagami hands down. Not only is she my fav female character, but fav character from Bahubali.
Also other than her being a strong character, what is admirable that without a second's thought she adopted Bahubali as her son, and treated Bhalladeva and Bahubali equally, without discriminating and that's not an easy thing for a mother to do. Even when later she was misled and tricked into signing Bahubali's death warrant, she did it out of Dharma and not out of favouring her son.

Devasena, sadly for me was the stereotype 'damsel in distress', waiting for her knight in shining armour, in her case her son to come and rescue her. And as someone said, was responsible for a lot of mayhem.
