Finally, I saw both Bahubali1 and 2 today and needless to say I'm in love with the fierce, strong and beautiful Bahubali ladies. Who do you think is more fierce? Shivagami or Devasena?

Sivagami of course, remember we never saw her younger days, if as an older woman, she could command such presence and control the entire kingdom surrounded by men, easily she was extremely powerful.

The background of Shivagami as a young girl is indeed incredible and so was her rise. There is a book released called 'The Rise of Shivagami'. It is an incredible read and it gives you back ground about not only her, but Kattappa, Bijaladeva and his younger brother (Amarendra's dad). Worth a read IMO.

I love Devasena. She is an incredible woman who is strong, brave, had a clear sense of self and did not need a mate to complete her. When the life she imagined and trained for turned upside down with the murder of her husband she had the fortitude to stand firm and not allow Kattappa to release her. She waited in faith for her son to come and rescue her while building a pyre stick by stick. It would have driven a lesser person crazy.
That said, my pick is Shivagami.

She rose against all odds. I have background on this because I have read the book, "Rise of Shivagami". Without spoiling much I will only reveal her father was arrested and tortured by Bijaladeva's father for being a traitor when she was a child. She lost everything. Then to rise and become the wife and eventual ruler in the dynasty that killed her father is incredible. But that is not what makes her my pick. It is how she atoned for her mistake. We all make bad judgements, even the best of us. But to atone, she sacrificed her life for Baby Mahendra. That to me makes her an incredible character.

Shivgami - Honor and Duty. She faced incredible challenges to preserve the kingdom, to save life of both father and son bahubali, to realize all her sacrifices were in vain.

My opinion-
Both the sons were unfit rulers for Mahastami. Not one was ready for sacrifice to preserve the kingdom. She saved life of bahubali and got her generation destroyed. Unless I am missing another child or grandchild, her lineage is dead. She actually saved life not once but twice of the people who would end her blood line.

Devsena is feminist prototype turned ma from Karan Arjun. "Mera Bahubali (karan Arjun) aaeyga". Shut up. If you are that awesome, then run and fight for your kingdom. So many freaking people lost their life saving that idiot. And let me not start with the fact kingdom ended up with bhalla who was tryant. Poor Mahastami. What did they do to deserve these morons?

Like I said the kingdom after shivgami was a mess, I have no hopes from that new (questionable) bahubali. 😛 😆

Isn't the book universe separate from the movie universe? because the books aren't being written by Vijayendra Prasad or SSR. I read an interview of the author of the books recently, and if I remember right, he said he was given a free hand to write the story as he liked and create other characters and so on, as long as he preserved the character of Shivagami. I don't know if that means we can count it as a prequel to the movies or we're meant to read it as a separate world altogether.
