There's a marwri folk song that goes something like: morni baga mein naache, bana re baga manjula lage

I believe the "Lamhe" version is an adapataion of this. Wonder why Poonam didn't sing Nimbooda - that was a folk song that ID adapted.

Update: Amanat's Kashi Hile, Patna Hile is an adapataion of a bhojpuri folk number- Arrah Hile, Chhapra hile. (Arrah, Chappra are districts in Bihar)

Poonam & Mussarat's choice of songs were dissappointing tho' they did give brilliant performaces! But as the theme was Folk, Raja gets more credit for doing justice followed by Amanat & Aneek. I feel the mentors shub blamed for choice of songs here.......At least they know what qualifies for folk!

I thought the theme was "Look geet", translated into "folk songs". But I struggled to find actual folk songs in the entire episode.

Folk music, in the most basic sense of the term, is music by and for the common people. "It is music of the common people that has been passed on by memorization or repetition rather than by writing, and has deep roots in its own culture."

With the exception of Raja's Kesariya Balam and Sumedha's Morni baaga ma (An adaptation of a marwari folk song), I found that none of the others actually fitted into this category. All others were mere filmi numbers that had local dialects. If a song in a local dialect turns into a folk song - then every song in Tamil, telegu, punjabi or Gujarati is a folk song.

Even in Aneek's song, only the bit - "sa ra ra ra" is a folk bit. The rest is a pure filmi composition. Paan Khaye Saiyaan Hamaar - though sounds like a folk number, it isn't. It was specifically written and composed for Teesri kasam.

The creative team could at least called the theme something different.

👏well said.

Absolutely agree with you.
Other than Raja everyone sounded "Folkish". If it would have been true folk Dhamaal ho jata.
But i think its too difficult to learn, rehearse and perform in a weeks time and that too TWO songs.
