Recently, Salman Khan and wife Kiran threw a bash for friend and Rang De Basanti director Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra.

On July 9, Rakeysh Mehra ushered in his 44th birthday amidst close friends and colleagues from the industry. What's more, Aamir Khan and wife Kiran painstakingly organised a surprise party for the director. Also seen at the party were director Kunal Kohli and adman Prasoon Joshi.

Like all other events in Aamir Khan's life, this one too, was a low-key one. When contacted Kunal Kohli said, "It was a very small affair and a private one at that so we should let it remain that way. Moreover it was a last-minute thing. Mehra is not really into parties or celebrating birthdays. It was more like a small gathering of close friends."

When contacted Mehra said, "Birthday celebrations don't happen at 44. It was a very personal affair and I would like it to remain that way." What about birthday gifts? "At this age I do not expect birthday gifts, I really don't think birthdays are special days, nor have I ever celebrated my birthday." However, he confessed that the most exciting gift he received this time was a birthday card made by his daughter. Did he at least cut a cake? "Not really, I am not really into cutting cakes but my office team got me a cake in the afternoon. I was left touched by their warm gesture." admits Mehra.

Although not too gung-ho about his birthday he was happy about catching up with his friends on this occasion, "We just need a bahana to meet up. It was a nice time together for all of us."

The friends relished some homemade khana and chatted away till early morning. In fact, early morning joggers were surprised to get a glimpse of the filmi janta as left the venue.

lol yes, there is a mistake in the article.

Amir Khan is really cute, I like him. He seems to be so normal and very down-to-earth unlike hisco-stars who just TRY to be normal.
