Welcome to the weekly analysis thread, where we dissect the heck out of the characters, situations, and the possibilities for the leap! This thread is dedicated to in-depth character and story analysis in this new phase of the show. Let's explore how the show, in its complexity makes us think. We leave the thread open-ended so that we can discuss varied topics with each other in a more informal way, and new thread begins every Sunday evening for ongoing discussions as the week unfolds. If you are interested in this exercise, jump right in!

_____________

Everyone is invited to join as long as they avoid:

1. Moral policing. This thread should be an inclusive and safe space for people to express their views. This is a work of fiction and multiple interpretations only make it a richer experience. If something about the show makes you uncomfortable, be open to the idea that you might be missing the necessary perspective that someone else could provide.

2. Bashing CVs. Criticism is welcome, but should be focused and constructive.

3. Bashing the characters, or pitting them against one another. If you think either the Dixits or the Boses are entirely right, and the other entirely to blame, this is not the thread for you.

And most importantly...

4. BASHING OR PERSONAL INSULTS OF OTHER MEMBERS

This means we accept other people's viewpoints with respect, and don't call them names for not agreeing with us. Either we continue the argument calmly, supported by examples from the show, or we respectfully agree to disagree and leave that discussion alone.

Additionally, if you notice something being discussed on another thread in the forum that you would like to get a perspective on here, please link it in your post and let the other Thread Maker know. This allows for them to come and discuss here if they like and makes us all good neighbours.

Welcome to new thread and new week

Its gonna be an emotional roller coaster kinda week..with Nikki's relationship truth coming out in front of everyone and Ishwari will be hurt also Neha's come back will spice up the story line

Past week too was a very intense and meaningful week..With story have some amazing heart touching scenes and some wonderful conversations sequences..Enjoyed it completely

Yes less of Dev Soankshi's exclusive sequences left many complaining and miffed but I guess Makers have to balance whole story line and characters they can not always have Dev Soankshi centric tracks..Though I too miss them but then a sensible and relatable tracks are much needed..Dev Sonakshi have their share of contribution and they are growing as individuals as well

The only thing I am not very happy about is Sonakshi's involvement in solving probably everything directing Dev every time..It just feels Dev is working on her suggestions & according to her directions..not really putting his own thoughts and perspective much ..though in certain situations I was okay but in some I wasnt..so yeah can we have a little relaxed and calm Sonakshi this week..I want her to take back seat and let Dev take matters in his hand ..also how She explains an comes with some amazing reasoning can we see dev doing the same for her..May be naah because she has no issues like Dev sighh

Hope to see lots of deep insightful comments and discussion on this thread..I would request writers who are inactive to please return ..Keep pouring your thoughts and feelings ..All keen and excited to read :)

It struck me as I watched last week's episodes, that Dev's reaction to Ishwari working was a striking mirror image of her reaction to his falling in love with Sona. Just as she felt insecure when he found meaning and purpose outside of their relationship, Dev felt insecure when Ishwari sought an activity that was outside of what he could and wanted to provide. Both of their insecurities came from the question of why they weren't good enough for the other -- why they had to seek something outside of their family to feel personal satisfaction. The major differences, of course, are that Ishwari was holding Dev to implicit pomises while Dev was holding her to an explicit one, and that Dev was more or less convinced by Ishwari's new happiness as demonstrated by the email. With Dev and Sona, on the other hand, Ishwari was happy to see the changes in Dev but resented the fact that they came from this new relationship.

They were such a co-dependent unit for so long that both of them struggle with the other finding satisfaction outside of its confines, and they make the mistake of seeing all or nothing. Ishwari was so scared about Dev finding new meaning with Sona that she failed to see how much he still needed her support, the central issue of the show which was only recently solved. Dev, in turn, is so upset that Ishwari made this decision without him, and against his will, that he fails to see how much it hurts her not to have his approval and support. His line to Sona, "she's so sad because she couldn't go to work. If it means that much to her, why should she care about me? She should do what makes her happy," was very similar to Ishwari's constant assertions that she never told Dev and Sona to separate. She didn't have to, nor did Dev have to forbid Ishwari from working. Just the unhappiness of the other is enough for each of them to give up anything, no matter how happy it makes them. This phase in the story took me right back to the first break up, and that was some clever storytelling!

I also loved how Ishwari -- Sona -- Asha represented a spectrum of reactions to Dev's behaviour, depending on how they view him. Asha is most familiar with the very mature and in-charge Dev, who is able to view situations calmly and handle them with care (even when Sona isn't); case in point is the Mrs. Mondal jewellery fiasco. He has set a very lofty precedent, and in comparison to the Dev she feels she knows, Asha was therefore least prepared and most disappointed by his behavior (on a side note, I give her full credit for not saying anything at IN and even keeping Dev anonymous in her rant at home -- this is how an adult deals with emotions!). Ishwari, on the other hand, couldn't find it in herself to be angry with Dev because of how intimately she understands his struggle. She empathises with his pain so acutely that it makes her hesitant to take this step forward, despite the happiness it gives her.

Sona is now exactly in the middle. She empathises with Dev's pain and wants to share his burden, but she also expects him to outwardly behave like an adult would -- communicate and compromise. In S1, I feel Sona was more like Asha is in this situation. She expected Dev to be that mature adult and would get upset and frustrated when he displayed this kind of childish behaviour because she didn't understand why and Dev couldn't explain it properly. It really goes to show how much Ishwari's support makes a difference to their relationship. Thanks to her clear explanation, Sona is able to understand the root of Dev's behaviour and communicate with him in a way that at once validates his feelings of being cheated, but also holds him to the expectation that he will put himself in Ishwari's shoes and try to understand her motivations. With the support of both mothers, Sona is able to at once sympathise with, and challenge Dev.

Hi every one, Another week started with lot of new upcoming development in the show. But first I would like to talk about the last Friday's episode. It was one of the beautiful episode as I have expected sona acted exactly the way I want. She was giving everyone space and allow them to take the decision. She allowed dev the space and another important aspect she don't have any intentions to solve the problem of dev and Ishu mata . She said that they both should solve it but at the same time she give the new thought in the dev's mind that he should not consider himself responsible for every thing and every suffering or pain his family's life. And at the same time explain that why she is not angry on him as she step in his shoe so she is understanding the both dev and ishu mata .As I have mentioned she was not interested in solving the problem but at the same time when dev don't want to have a diner with them and act exactly like a child she was forced to speck with him and explain the his mother's point of view. For the dev's happiness Ishu has taken the decision to not to go for the work but when she got the call from the office she cannot stop herself to enter in the new world of work and learning which gives her happiness and when dev get the glimpse of the happiness and confidence of his mother he will gave in as expected. The another aspect which get my attention that is as it was already discussed for the first time GKB was not convinced with her son's thought. She is happy with the right which was given by sona and dev by which she feels that this house is under her control and she achieved what she wants to and this is because of sona's key returning and dev's sorry so for the first time son and mother are not on the same page. Is it the slow start to the down fall of Tripathi mother and son I think yes.

Now coming to the upcoming developments here according the to the spoilter Neha is coming to the picture and at the same time nikki will also come and today dev and sona will understand that Ishu mata works with the Laksh's co. I think this information will be get shared with nikki or at least laksha by dev or sona. And they will ask him not the revile his and nikki's relation with Ishu mata as they want to find the proper way to tell her about them. But I think this situation will get the turn as s1. Only now the character's are change. When dev disclose his and sona's relation he was aware about his mother's insecurity but at the same time he have a feel that as his mother and family loves sona as an individual at the same time they will love her as his life partner and wife or lover but that are the two different things Ishu mata never have any problem with sona as a person but when she comes as dev's lover or life partner her insecurities won't allow her to think straight. In the same way the changed Ishu mata can accept the Laksh as her daughter lover as a good person or as the boss but she cannot accept the their live in relationship without the families consent. So I think nikki must have thought like dev that if my mother like the laksha as the boos or good human being she will accept this relationship. And I think dev and sona now know the actual the difference so dev was trying to stop her but as usual she will not listened. Now what is the current state of Neha will also be clear after this drama if she ones again put the blame on dev or sona or dev and sona on this then I want dev and sona should speak up because nikki's decision to be in the live in relationship as the outcome of many factors as dev is having the responsibly to take care of the family at the same time other persons like Ishu mata, mamaji and neha was having it. So lets see what happens. Some I feel vikki will try to use neha against the dev and sona in this situation and I will love to see how dev is going to handle and defend himself and sona. I my wish to see dev standing for himself when neha or vikki or even nikki is putting the blame on him or sona I want him to take the firm stand on this whole issu and speak what he feels and let the actual decision on elder's of the house. I think when neha will come in the picture sona will take the back sit and not to come in the picture unless and until Ishu mata ask her opinion. And I think Ishu mata will continues the work in the laksh's office but I will love to see how her current equation with laksh will change and in which direction. I think she will be angry on her daughter not on the Laksha and how asha and her friendship guide her in this new situation the will be clear in future.

I have seen Mrs Dixit ke jalwe mahua. No need to send the mind in the gutter. Makers are doing a great job.
I wonder why Dev was so tired the next day!
