@asha2012: Great post! 👏

This whole "chemistry/romance" issue is going totally over my head. True, this show doesn't do romance in the cliched sense, with never-ending eyelocks, fall-and-catch moments, and close-ups on hands slowly inching over errogenous body parts. But they introduce the topic in much more wholesome and creative ways. It's both illuminating and disappointing that there is hardly any appreciation for this new and (according to me) much more healthy depiction of attraction.
Sex drive, as much as desi romance shows will try to convince you otherwise, doesn't exist in a vacuum, independent of all other emotions. It is also acutely informed by the way you feel as a person, the context of your desire, how society shapes the way you think about sex, and the person with whom you are engaging. Everyone doesn't experience these feelings in the same way, so it would take us ten steps backwards to demand that the makers show us romance in a certain way just because it is easiest for us to understand.

Especially in S2, I think they have been doing an excellent job showing us their journey with desire, as it confronts all of the other overwhelming emotions that come with their reunion. For the first time, Sona is expressing herself, freed from the idea that the woman never makes the first move or that Dev will think less of her if she displays vulnerability. Dev isn't shown like most fictional men, to have an "on" switch for his desire that can be activated any time.

In yesterday's scene, for example, his mood was heavily effected by his anxiety regarding his own appearance. And he wasn't just worried about how he looked to Sona, he felt accountable for Golu's faith in him as well (which is what makes him such a great parent -- he knows he has to work to be worthy of that adoration). It was not until Sona eased that anxiety with her promise to make the chart, and her assurance that she still wanted to see him shirtless, paunch or no paunch 😉 that he relaxed a little. And it's not difficult, for me at least, to imagine that once Dev's anxiety had lifted, they took advantage of the intimate position they were already in. ☺️

Hi Sam

I am a great fan of your writing and am mostly a silent reader. So your words of appreciation mean a lot to me 😊I dont have the same skills or the ability that you and some of the other wonderful writers on this thread do.

I also loved the way desire and passion is depicted in KRPKAB compared to other serials. Dev and Sona are taking it easy and slowly which I think is natural - especially because they have loved each other deeply and have been away from each other for seven long years. loved what you said here - Sex drive, as much as desi romance shows will try to convince you otherwise, doesn't exist in a vacuum, independent of all other emotions. It is also acutely informed by the way you feel as a person, the context of your desire, how society shapes the way you think about sex, and the person with whom you are engaging.

So true and correct - couldnt agree more!

Cheers
Asha

I await the scene where Dev and Sonakshi clear up this girlfriends' topic. I would hate for this to become a bone of contention between them. So far, I think the makers have dealt with it with utter finesse. So long as Sonakshi does not hold it against him and he does not feel bad about whatever he was upto in those years, I am cool. If either of them have such feelings, this needs to be talked out and discussed.

My viewpoint is slightly different from Asha and Sam, in that, I do not know if they make/made love or not, but I think they do. That precisely, mere pyare threadwalon, is why I love Devakshi so much. You can never know what these two are up to. This couple is so entwined in more ways than physical intimacy. Totally revelling in each other's presence. Who needs sex when there is so much love. 😳

Mind you, I have often been proven wrong on these accounts because I expect subtlety while the desi shows make a big deal out of making out (I have learnt a lot on his forum 😊 ) .

Though I am quite unsure about makers bringing this 7 years hook up & girlfriend issue of Dev now as at present it looks like they have moved on from that phase but still they have theor own thinking and way also they always wants to surprise viewers so they might bring it again in some way..May be if they r not showing much close moments between Dev & Sonakshi so this could be the reason

@underlined Precisely lol that gives you alot to imagine lmao

Precisely mahua. I have always felt it was over and done with. However, if it bothers one of them i.e. if it bothers one partner in a relationship, devakshi or otherwise, it needs to be talked about. So far, I have seen no indication from Dev or Sonakshi to say that it bothers them

The sad part is they skipped alot of things and this could be the one..correct and its obvious as well since you have something bothering you constantly you cant really focus on other things at all..and they seems to be pretty okay with each other..like I said If and only if they r showing lack of physical expression of love lil flirting so they might be vuilding this plot simultaneously and thunking of bringing it in front in the form of next track ( I highly doubt it though -_-)

Their are lots of ifs and buts sighh
I guess I mentioned this in one of my post..post this revelation of them still married I felt cvs want us to forget every old episode with new one :| coz they take random twists and turns with no proper justification at time just see episode pre this revelation ..You will find them very awkward and funny

You never know cvs in next episode might say dev was never involved in any flings and all ..WHOOP clean sweep lol

I hope CVs won't show Dev guilty for what happened during that seven year period. If they do they will have come a full circle as far as Dev's apologies are concerned. He will stand unique as the one and only hero whose every action is judged and proven faulty.

Nothing more is left for him to feel confident of his integrity,,honesty or goodness. A revolution of sorts by the makers to create a hero who is responsible for all the mishappenings that occurred either in Dixit house or in Bose House.

As a viewer who immensely loved Dev for who he is,I have a different take on that crucial seven year phase. Dev Dixit may have been shattered. His heart may have been broken into pieces with Sonakshi's exit He may have tried to seek relief in flirting with many beauties but to me he will never cross the boarders

. No temptation would make him touch, feel or love another girl however strong that temptation is or however lost he was in his drunken state. He just can't forget Sonakshi, his lifeline,in hatred or in love. That is the ultimate truth associated with Dev Dixit.

Strictly my views.

What if Dev did all that and we still love him? because that is the whole point... we see his khubees.. what if Sona expects no apologies? What if a wife simply expects a conversation and that is all? Or what if Dev wants to clarify it for their rishta? achche bachche sometimes do do gandee baat

I kind of agree with both of you.

Either way dev dixit is a very very special person . I do believe that he may have had many girlfriends but he wouldn't have slept or touched any one of them - remember the incident in the hotel room with that girl... I forget her name.

I am.quite sure it would have all ended like that.

Cheers
