Trying to understand Sona

I'm sure a lot of us are unable to understand why Sona opened up to Sumit today .... She has been consistently shown to trust or open up to many side characters in the show ... Raima, Rani, Ajit, Sumit, Vimmy, Mahesh, Ravi even before. But if you notice, she doesn't do so with even her own mother (she didn't talk through about her decision to quit or just let her know she's using up the FD). Not sure if I'm over analyzing things ... but it gives me 2 reasons why she would do so:

1. Probably Sona deeply feels inadequate or insecure or worthy of love. She 's looking at opportunities to prove herself in front of Rohit... and if she involves him, that feeling of accomplishment is gone.

2. Her childhood trauma of dad leaving her, her mother's money focused upbringing, or first engagement breaking up - a fear of judgement or abandonment causing difficulty in emotional intimacy with Rohit.

I'm starting to think her aiming to please everyone in the family, and not being intimate or being honest with Rohit as you'd expect from a typical wife also might come due to these reasons.

I completely disconnected from Sona during and after the wedding. I am hoping these points make sense to understand this character ... I'm also hoping that makers take it as an opportunity to address Sona's insecurities, emotional disconnect from her near and dear ones, projected image of herself vs. her real image and compulsive need for validation from everyone else and give a good message by showing her character grow. Hoping that they make Sona look more human instead of painting it as a typical FL super bahu trait and making it look like she was right all the way. Thanks Sree for asking me to make a thread ..

She has been very unloved in her life. Her dad left her, her mom n sis treat her like shit. Pulki is her support but hez too young to be burdened with her problems.

Parvati is the ideal character shez seen who is loved, appreciated, so she tried to embody that in her real life.

Now my issue with the makers:

1. Star kids actually become street smart, not dumb.

2. No one mixes up real and reel life. Its abt common sense. They have shown Sonakshi as naive and innocent from day one. There is a difference between being innocent and being dumb. The CVs deffo dont get that.

3. She is constantly seeking approval n acceptance from others. Not very typical of people who are earning 2 lakhs per day for a show n are very popular (coz that gives her financial stability and status of her own). If Sikand thinks Divyanka is like this in real life then he needs to get out of his delusion. He keeps saying Sonakshi is based on Divyanka😕

From childhood onwards, Sonakshi is facing lot of problems. Her father abandoned her family in childhood, her mother is money minded and gives lot of importance to Pari and Pulkit more than Sona, Pari taunts her for being TV actress. Her brother Pulkit supports her.Her engagement is canceled with her childhood friend. She doesn't have friend in her life. That's why she is friendly with every one who is work in KPK set.She missed her schooling, friends, playing with friends and all. From the age of 12,she is acting in serials and being supporting her family.

She find good friend in Rohit and she loves him so much. That's why when Rohit showed his anger on Sona for forgetting Raima birthday, she showed her support to Rohit in church episode. She played bahu character in KPK and all people praised her as best bahu. That's why she is behaving like Parvathi in SM and try to win their love and affection. She has no relatives there to share her opinion. That's why whenever she turns to camera and talk to us, I feel happy.

She freely tells her feelings to outsiders because she has no problem when they ditched her. But when it comes to family, she fears if they abandoned her because her father already did that to her. That's why she is taking extra efforts to please everyone and get their love and affection be it from Rastogi family or Sippy family.

I totally can't believe Divyanka is like this character. Definitely delusional ...

For point 2 you have the answer in your post ...

1. she has not seen how her dad and mom have disagreed or got along...

2. Parvati is her ideal wife / bahu character that she's trying to mimic starting from the dressing style...

if we go back and see the episodes where she tells Rohit she'll only wear sarees, that'll exactly show her thought process where she has loved being Parvati

I don't understand why she has a different yardstick as well as expectation for herself vs. for Rohit ...

Lemme put it this way.

Jst because we have happy families does not mean we do not know about divorce/domestic abuse or all the crimes that happen out there and things that others go through. Everything cannot be learnt through personal experience. Kal kya sach me Naren ka operation kar degi coz Parvati karti hai?😆

Socialization n learning cant just be limited to one's family. Upar se shez in the Ent industry. There are so many messy divorces, cheating, breaking marriages, abuse by in laws, etc. She cant b oblivious to reality. Its ridiculous.

Iss hisaab se toh there are so many orphans in this eorkd. They dont know the concept of family. Not all of them turn out weird or choose the wrong paths.

So m not buying this innocence bordering on stupidity that CVs are forcing upon us.

Also dressing style theek hai. But common sense to hona chahiye.

We can't equate the behavior with the earning capacity ... It's like thinking wealthy folks don't steal.

I agree she does constantly want to "belong" but no so close that she has to emotionally invest in the person. Also she doesn't seem to connect with Deepa / Tanya who are of her age ... She doesn't have friends, cousins while siblings, mother are also not close enough...

Its' probably tough for her to trust anyone due to her life events... coupled with a deep sense of "not being in a respectable profession" that she herself admitted to Rohit once ... Sona really needs help

I actually feel that start kids usually are pretty stupid its a very harsh thing to say but they hardly know the reality. Example Ananya Pandey's comment about her struggles on round table with Rajiv. Infact I believe celebrities live in an alternate world nothing about them looks real. For example even a stupid won't call her makeup a look in Chapak refering to Deepika here. When she was asked by Anupama Chopra how did she not think about vanity when going for such a role. She said she enjoyed the anonymity associated by this makeup. She even said the same thing in a video promoting Chapak. Children from priviledged backgrounds have very poor understanding grass root problems. Star kids actually are pretty selfish and Dumb too... I don't see a single star kid today making sense when they talk (barring a few exception here and there)

People living reel life do tend to mix it up with real life too. The entire bollywood when goes for mourning anywhere is in remarkable white clothes.....in real life have you seen such white mourning. They try to make their life cinemascope.

People no matter how accomplished they are at times seek constant approval from their families which they are denied. Families many times are unforgiving and some people who appear to be very accomplished in public life are actually failures when it comes to personal life and they have regrets deep in their hearts for this.

My only issue with the analyzation the OP's analysis is that I don't think writers think so deep when they sketch a character. We put effort into ttrying to understand them because we don't have a business angle associated with it but entertainment industry looks at it with the only perspective of tRPs and box office. I think OP also knows this.

Where did stealing come from?

Her earning capacity and popularity gives her financial security and a status in the society, which is not dependent on her husband or parents.

These traits give you a lot of validation in society.

So that level of approval seeking n door mat behaviour is weird. She is an entity in her own right and has said multiple times that she is not dependent on any1 financially. Ppl who have been hurt in life are always more conscious abt trusting ppl. So sudden overwhelming love for the family who has time and again questioned her intentions is weird.

@Stealing: these industrial giants are money mad. The richest people are the most petty and kanjoos.

Hi nice analysis on Sona's traits. Agree with most.

After watching today's episode there are too many discrepancies in the characters that no one looked Scott free.

But can you explain why Sona finds to easier to share things with everyone other than Rohit? I was insulted second hand on behalf of Rohit when she confided everything to Sumith that happened today at SM and police station?? Come on how can you do that? Is indirectly says sona is presenting poor me and everyone MU me..

It was distasteful to see her discussing Rohit with Sumit. She lost me there!! Pls don't call this a friendship.. Could somewhat accept if it was Nethra.. Why the makers never show Rohit discussing about Sona and their problem with anyone? Maybe than what sona did would have looked normal.

Don't know why I find it offensive that time and again she Involved Sumit(others too) in their life decisions.. Job quitting, help with blackmailer, murder suspicion and what happened at her home..

Sona today was way outside of her character. She was neither the poor girl nor the strong woman...

Why the hell is she going after Rohit after that blasting she gave Rohit? Where is her self respect? The guy asking her to stay out of his life.. This is not love it's controlling and wishing everyone to fall accordingly

Does Sona every understand the meaning of giving space to people? What is the need to go after Rohit at the park? Also why ask him question like don't you really believe me...

In their fight sona uses all the manipulating emotional tricks in the book (the dialogue asking rohit to let her fall down the cliff!!!) to make him understand her POV is correct... Is it always about her? What about his pain?

Her dialouges with YK is the worst scene of KHKT for me?? Again she presents the poor MU girl?? How can she say according to Rohit she hurt him??? So still she doesn't get it that her decisions to lie/hide what hurt him the most and funny thing here told her also. But she continues to believe she is not wrong!!

Whatever her faults were Sona was never insensitive to others pain. So what happened to her sense of fairness when it comes to her husband???

As for Rohit his anger, to him love has always been about him &Sona.. Nobody else mattered. For him it began and end with sona. So he is angry with her for signing a document which primarily focus on him without giving him a chance to decide.

Sona still does that.. Making decision for what Rohit can handle and when, how hurt her will be...

On the show front it has lost its grip on the content. Personally it's only for Rohit character still watching this stupid show. Pls don't assume this is because of any favoritism no on the contrary he still is very much relatable. I am sure this will change soon enough.. Just like YK..

Sad if the spoiler are to believed (I think highly possible) they are going to destroy the bond between YK and Rohit. One more loss for Rohit.. Felt they started it today with that scene with sona, YK!!!

Nothing to look forward to in this show anyone . Just going along out of habit..
