It is possible only if govt becomes producers and makes movies, documentaries for social upliftment.
Like doordarshan does for technical staff.

Not applicable for people who run pvt Ltd production housrz

Can there not be an independent private body though?? the only challenge would be squeezing out transparency and accountability from them, and...even funding ka masla ho jayega..

Everything boils down to economics. If there are more flops than hit, producers will cut corners by trying to get established faces or those whose parents can pay. What is needed is more third party producers with better strategy and money to burn. 😊

If hit machine Disney walked away from Bollywood saying it can't understand Bollywood's method of business, then something is really wrong. We are in for some heavy duty nepotism till Bollywood course corrects... 😛 😆

not practical. even if government starts producing movies and does screening and all to select actors, still govt cant stop private entities to make movies. that is against our constitution. government already has a lot of financial constraints and is on the path of privatization .

No no.. sorry but in my OP I never said it was to be a government entity(the Commission), I was just making a reference at UPSC.

And the Indian Acting Servants thing was a joke.

Then all the film families will get out of their swanky high rises and do this at the exam centre...

What if there was an independent body - a Commission like UPSC and a 3 month "exam" , where actor hopefuls would be auditioned continuously, sifted to short-list them based on series of auditions. And then 1 month of exam with different dates for following qualifications -

1) Dance
2) Voice modulation - dialogue delivery
3) Body Language - silent acting, modelling, photography, advertising
4) Some other auditions to test the actor-hopefuls spontaneously?

This is what usually happens at casting agencies.
