Dude the kind of audition Dakota Johnson had to go for Fifty Shades and the role she is playing will make all of BW faint. Hell, I say hand a career to Jhanvi Kapoor if she can do half of what Dakota did in fifty shades and if KJO produces that I will shut up about nepotism.

Jolie's father was estranged from her mom. She did not grow up with him. She started her career in music videos directed by her brother I think then some scifi stuff until she got her break with Gia for which she won a golden globe. She also attended Lee Strasburg. her mom was an actress but not working I think. Jolie is all her, her dad did not help at all.

Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal started acting as kids. Their parents were acting teachers for them to have any influence in people actually putting them in a movie other than teaching them to act.

Kristen Stewart's parents again work behind the camera. He dad works with the Oscar people or E channel and mom is a script supervisor. Her mom had a chance to direct because of Twilight fame of Kristen. Kristen Stewart got twilight because of her role Into the Wild and she had to audition. No one handed it to her. She had to audition to play Jodie's daughter in that movie she acted as a kid (forget the name).

No one handed a career to any of them based on the strength of a parents resume. Most parents were not superstars. They all had to audition and some started as kids. And not one parent produced a movie for them.

I guess we all can agree on one thing that these politics that land you a role in movies whether you are a starkid or not are complex.. and we can only guess so much based on what appears or what surfaces 😛 ..Casting couch is one of the biggest issues just like nepotism, and I think it's safe to say we don't clearly know what's behind the things we see...
Because, in HW also, ones mentioned on this thread who have parents associated with film industry are good actors except Charlie Sheen :p

From the movies I have mentioned above, I have realised that most of them aren't bad actors - except Tiger, Sid, Shradha.. Some of them are overhyped IMO *coughs* Alia *coughs* :p

Technically there are exams to become an actor. There are schools of performing arts, there are film schools. Some are really elite with tough entrance and curriculum. Sometimes though, stardom just relies on the right connections - the right parents, the right relatives, the right agency.
