Filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap, known for directing Dabangg and Besharam, has once again stirred controversy with remarks against Salman Khan. Over the past few years, Kashyap has made several allegations about the actor and his family. This time, his reaction comes after Salman Khan publicly praised Anurag Kashyap’s latest release Nishaanchi. Abhinav, who is Anurag’s brother, sees the gesture as an attempt to silence him.

Speaking to Bollywood Thikana, Abhinav said, “It is written in Salman Khan’s destiny that he will lick our boots.” He accused Salman of trying to present himself as supportive to counter his previous statements. He went on to claim, “Maybe they think Anurag will tell me to stop talking. That’s why he is praising my brother’s film and doing chamchagiri. This is how talentless people get ahead in life.”

Tensions linked to Tere Naam

Abhinav also revisited an old episode involving his brother. He recalled how Anurag Kashyap had earlier spoken about differences with Salman during the making of Tere Naam. In an interview, Anurag had explained that he was not asked to leave the film but felt sidelined. He said, “The film ghosted on me. I had asked Salman to grow chest hair and the producer reacted, not him. The script was ready but the shoot went ahead without me.”

Directed by Satish Kaushik, Tere Naam released in 2003 with Salman Khan and Bhumika Chawla. Known for its tragic love story, Himesh Reshammiya’s soundtrack, and Salman’s long-haired look, the film became a cult favourite.

Abhinav further pointed to an incident involving the late Amjad Khan, who reportedly chose never to work again with Salman’s father, Salim Khan, after hearing that his performance in Sholay was questioned. According to Abhinav, such examples reflect a long history of broken trust, which he believes connects to his own experiences with the Khan family.

For now, neither Salman Khan nor Anurag Kashyap has responded to Abhinav’s latest remarks. The filmmaker, however, continues to frame the actor’s recent praise as a strategic move rather than genuine support.
