Actor Shweta Tiwari recently shared insights into the demanding nature of television production, particularly the long working hours she and others experienced while working on daily soaps. Her comments came during a conversation on the Bharti TV YouTube channel, where she discussed how the television industry often operates around the clock.
Tiwari spoke about working extended shifts, sometimes continuing for up to three consecutive days without a proper break. Recalling the schedule, she said that she was often on set for 72 hours at a stretch, with shifts running continuously from morning to night and then overnight.
“Hum log poori industry main famous hai ki koi sota nahi tha. Mai 72 hours shoot karti thi. 30 days ka mahina hota hai, mereko 45 days ka cheque milta tha. Subah 7 se shaam ke 7 tak ek hota tha, shaam 7 se agle din subah 7 tak do hote the,” she shared.

She explained that the pay she received reflected not just the number of days in a month but also the volume of work she was required to handle. Due to overlapping shoots and back-to-back shifts, she was often compensated for more days than were actually in the month.
During the discussion, Tiwari also spoke about producer Ektaa Kapoor, acknowledging that the work pressure was not limited to the actors. Kapoor, she said, was equally involved and followed a similarly packed routine.
“It wasn’t just us actors who worked like that, Ektaa did it too. Ektaa didn’t sleep; she had 22 shows running. Whenever you called her, she’d answer in just one ring. She would explain everything in detail, and once Ektaa explained something, there was no way you could go wrong. Whenever she delivered a line during rehearsals, it felt like she was saying it better than you. That’s how passionate she was!” Tiwari said.
