Suniel Shetty opens up about marrying Mana against family's wishes: 'Community alag hai unki…'

Suniel Shetty's marriage to Mana Shetty is a beacon of hope amid the tumultuous relationships of many celebrity couples. Despite facing opposition, the couple got married in 1991, a year before Suniel's acting debut. In a recent podcast with Pinkvilla, Suniel shared that he was confident Mana would stand by him through thick and thin, even if he failed to achieve success in his career.

Suniel Shetty recalled that his parents were opposed to his marriage to Mana because she wasn't from his community, and they insisted that they couldn't get married due to this difference. “Mere maa-baap clear the ki shaadi honi nahi hai. Aap shaadi kar nahi sakte ho, community alag hai unki. Lekin usne kabhi aisa nahi socha. Usne hamesha kaha ki I'll be with you as long as you want me to be part of your life,” revealed Suniel Shetty.

The actor fondly recalled how his partner's unwavering support led him to decide on marriage when he signed his debut film. Despite many people advising against it, citing his fledgling career, he remained resolute in his decision, crediting her encouragement as the driving force behind his choice.

Suniel said, “Isliye jab pehli film mujhe mili. I think ussi time humne shaadi karne ka decide kar liya. I was married even before my first release. Jabki dunia ne kaha ki yaar agar aapne shaadi kar li to wo fan-following nahi hoti hai. Ladkiyon ki fan-following nahi hoti hai. Bahot logon ne discourage kiya lekin I had made up my mind.”

Suniel Shetty said that he knew his partner Mana would stand by him through failures and wouldn't leave him even if he hadn't achieved anything in life. However, he added that if he had issues with his behavior, such as being unfaithful, she would definitely leave him. According to Shetty, Mana had always had self-respect, which remained unchanged over time.
