Hi Vijay,

Any new update on Private Forums?

My Aashiqana forum has crossed 200 members now and we want it to become public so that we can reach out to more members.😳

Hi Vijay

I can understand why the feature has been disabled and the privacy issues too but as a member and an avid reader of fanfictions, i am unable to see and know if there is something new written by writers or even access their indexes. So we are currently in the blind where new stories are concerned.

Also, when you bring it back with an option, those who have stopped writing or visit IF rerely, but their work is still on IF, we will not be able ro read their stuff. That will be very sad.
We all know that IF is an open forum so i want you to reconsider this issue so that we all can read, comment and enjoy the fabulous work of other fellow members.
Thanks and please do reconsider this.

Yes this feature has been disabled.

We will bring it back with the option to Allow All / Buddies Only / Disallow other members to view their MyPost page.

So we will work on the same to increase it to around 9-10 so that members can easily flaunt their badges beside their post.

@priya185

Please vote this up if would like this idea.

Instead of this can we get to choose which badges we want to flaunt?

Hello! πŸ˜Š

In the new Fan Fiction Section, can we add more genres like tragedy, psychological, paranormal, supernatural, etc?

Yes Nush. Please see this --- https://www.indiaforums.com/fanfiction/chapter/22989

Plus, it would be very helpful if both writers and readers could create multiple libraries to sort the stories into different categories. For example, I like to read FFs on Beyhadh and original fiction, but there are too many good stories. If I could create two separate libraries and sort my favorite stories in them, it would be easier to track them down. The same goes for the writers.

This is a very interesting suggestion.

You can quickly select pursuant to your wish these genres and forum stories information.

Is it possible to introduce a notification system for the forums so that whenever a writer will post a story based on a particular show, we'll get a notification and add it to our library?

Whenever a writer posts his/her FF in the new FF section, her tagged members will get notification.

If you see in the forum main page, there will be information regarding the added FF stories in the FF site.

Please check

None of my business (coz I don't use the flag feature) but maybe the people who stalk the forum(s) without logging in shouldn't be able to see the flag and only when one does log in, should they see the flag.

For example, right now, if you have logged out of if, you can't see the hyperlinked number of pages of a thread and have to open the thread to check the same, so that feature could be added here to maintain a user's privacy.

This has been taken care of in our last update.

Only logged in users can see country flags of users.

In future we will give user the choice if they are okay showing their "My Posts".

It's OK for those who like to control visibility of their older posts.πŸ˜’

Personally I want all my posts to be visible to everyone at all times. πŸ‘πŸΌ

You can always post it in Suggestion / Comments forum. Tag a few of your friends and me to the topic and I will definitely check it out.

Cheers,

It would also show the number of posts required to reach that level.

I hope this page will tell us what one is able to do after reaching each level, please.

For example, as a Senior Member, my daily PM limit is 50, and I didn't know that until I tried to invite more than 50 members to nominate fan fictions for the Readers' Choice Awards. If I could easily look up what the daily PM limit is for a Goldie without having to reach Goldie status first, I might think, I should rack up posts faster.

Right now, I am not aware of any practical incentive to make an effort to reach Goldie status, or to visit every day. I mean, thank you for the badges, I appreciate that someone artistic took the time to make them look nice, and thank you for honouring top participants under each forum daily and in a global announcement monthly, but ... if your business model relies on me to look at other members' streaks, or how many badges other members have, and which ones, and how rare they are, and follow their example by making lots of posts, it isn't working. I talk to everybody without caring that they outrank me.

I find it convenient to write one post, not ten posts, in which I quote one person, reply to a few more, and tag up to ten members for thank-yous. My fan fiction chapters are consistently 2,000 to 8,000 words long. If you want me to make more posts so that the forum looks more active, telling me what privileges I get at each level might be persuasive.

Hi Vijay πŸ˜Š

I had a couple of suggestions.

First, I suggest that the TellyBuzz article comments should count as the user's post. It should add up in the post count. Many times, like now, when our shows are on a sabbatical, you don't have much to do in forums. But you keep coming back for the articles and comment on them. I feel they should be included in user post counts.

However since we do not want to get into developing everything in-house the easier solution would be to allow users to embed from players who are already specialising in it:

SoundCloud and Reverb.

This is how it would work:

People can simply go to:
https://record.reverb.chat

Record their voice and share the record link on their post. There are Chrome extensions also available to make it easy.

Usage on forums

I think this would be fun to use when someone wants to do a Singing Contest / Tell A Joke or something. Members would submit their songs and people can vote it up each round.

What do you guys say...

Audio has the potential to be the future of social interactions .   The latest  apps add some charm to the closeness of oral conversation, but Vijay, serious moderation issues must be addressed before providing these personalized encounters.

Every member enjoys reminiscing, reflecting on what it's like to be in their minds while watching serials, a new way of chatting with a friend, or just like  conversing with a fellow passenger in this IF travel!

Since few years, audio messaging has been available; voice notes on WhatsApp are especially popular in India.

During the pandemic, these functions have been a convenient way for us to communicate with our friends!πŸ˜ƒ

However, a new wave of hip apps is incorporating the immediacy and rawness of audio into the core experience, reintroducing speech as a means of communication!!!

The way we use our phones is maybe coming full circle, from phone conversations to messaging and back to audio.πŸ˜ƒ

A cautious approach is required, while implementing such individualised interactions.

It should not be used for malevolent purposes by members.
