Most of them were based on BOXOFFICE hits of those years. Awards are worthless, Nutan's era was altogether different, she was an actress par excellence , kajol is natural but everyone knows she is HIGHLY OVER RATED. If KJo and Chopras were not in her professional life, she would had no career to be honest.
I strongly believe even the most under rated actresses of her time RAVEENA TANDON and POOJA BHATT were more electrifying, charismatic and better actresses then her... but were not lucky enough to have Karan baji as their bestest friend who can made their careers.
Even Mahesh Bhatt in recent KWK openly stated that Kajol is the MOST over rated actress of recent past.
Iam soo confused on what u said..
1. U said if kjo and chopra were not in kajol life ,then she had no career???this we can apply to everyone..for ex.,if kjo was not in alia,sidd,varun 's ( these r the younger generation so Iam quoting then) professional life then they would not had a debut at all???
Agree SOTY was the debut of those 3, but just the debut, while Kajol was practically in every film of KJO and when she was not due to her personal reasons, he made sure she makes a special appearance, but she was a lead in all her major films from kkhh to k3g to mnik to we r family and rest were of chopras.. so those 3 kids just got debut while Kajol and KJO did like 80% films together.

The point is not why karan always took her, indebt or not to be encouraged by kajol for the first movie kkhh, point is apart from 1 or 2 movies he ignored all the more talented actresses of that time and only made Kajol her queen-bee throughout her career alongwith chopras, I like Kajol but I guess Urmila, Raveena, Pooja Bhatt ,Sonali and to some extent even Karishma didn;t got their full due from the industry despite being successful. and most of them were more taleneted then Kajol. Nepotism is not a good thing, atleast in my opinion.
3.how convinient it is to take the statement we like ...if mahesh bhatt said kajol is over rated then it is his opinion not the whole world..
Conveient or not, Mahesh Bhatt spoke the truth that most of the people also agree with. and he is a veteran film maker & director, not some common person like us, his opinion values much much more not only bcoz he is a seasoned director, but an extremely honest and a genius person too, who always speak truth without mincing anything.
