Laila,
You write beautifully. I agree with all the stuff you have written and the ones in quote made me laugh. To be honest, I don't know if there is anything that Asad can do to 'undo' what damage he has done. I hate it when the female leads become comical when they are not suppose to feel that way. It is so artificial and I cannot relate to it. Having said that - I will tell you one thing though - as long as there are people who fail to reason beyond the exterior looks of the characters, the shows with the most handsome actors/actresses run no matter what crap they show.
I thought that these mills and boon kind of stories with hard exterior male leads work because we all fantasize such life for ourselves. But, do I want a character like asad or arnav in my life? hell no. I would turn out to be abusive myself in order to protect myself from such characters. So, if someone thinks he did a great job of apologizing, I feel sorry for them - honestly.
No offense intended to anyone. Everyone is the master of their emotions.
I am truly humbled when I read words like this as I do not consider myself much of writer.
It is possible for Asad to undo this damage but the writers are determined for this not to happen. Even when Asad called her a musibaat, she was the bigger person and I accepted it. However, here, she is not the bigger person but an individual who has become a victim and this is not a healthy young girl (are soap female characters ever this way) and yet, she is said to be one. She does not have to be rude...she could simply have said...thank you and then kept a boundary up but now it is as though nothing has happened and the two are acting as though life is as usual...it really does irk me...this track could have had so much more to it but it was brushed off in less than five minutes...yes, that is about the time they gave it..
You'd think it was written on the back of a napkin it was so short.
M and B Books of 50 years ago had man who slapped women but not today - it would not sell in the western market - any writer doing this would not even get a publisher. Yes, the men are dark, strong, distant and with tempers and we have a young women who is beautiful, kind and gentle who tries to pierce through their tough barriers but what we saw on Monday and how this was handled today - bad, really, really bad.
