This topic is one of the most popular debate topics on Mahabharata the views on many people distinguish from each other but lets start it over again . Who was the most powerful warrior in MB
We are not including Lord Krishna as he is GOD

1. Bhishma ( Keeping aside his icha mrityu)

2.Arjuna

3.Drona

4.Karna

5.abhimanyu

6.bheem

For me its Karna because even lord krishna praised him not arjun in the battle and bhishma himself said that he was the greatest archer in the world he fought and almost defeated arjun even with his three curses but was intervened by krishna

Arjun karan n bheesma its hard to choose i would say arjun because he was fighting on the side of dharama which added to his power he had the lord himself sitting on his chariot n hanuman too. But if we take away the divine aspects then i cnt choose

You are right...this is the most debatable topic of Mahabharata...most popular choices are Bheesma, Arjuna and Karna...
I think Bheesma and Karna...Bheesma was there from start to last...when Arjuna killed him he had already dropped his weapons on seeing Shikandi...so in real sense he was never defeated...
The next one would be Karna according to me...Karna got so many curses...Arjuna had support of Krishna and others...but Karna was all alone...Duryodhana didnt count as he himself depended on Karna...but still defeating him was very challenging for Arjuna...he had to kill him when his chariot's wheel was broken...
Arjuna was a great warrier but not the greatest in my opinion for following reasons:
He never defeated Bheesma, Drona, or Karna fair and square...
In his generation, there were two people who could be considered a competition for Arjuna; Karna and Ekalavya.
Ekalavya was asked to cut off his thumb as guru Dakshina by Drona.
Karna was not allowed to participate in the skill demonstration of Kuru Princes as he was Suta-Putra...same can be said about the Draupadi's Swayambara where Karna was never given a chance...
In my opinion, Arjuna always won by association; association of Krishna...so he is not the greatest warrior for me...

Karna for me too...the difficulties he faced and what he achieved is far greater than anyone else mentioned above...Karna is THE BEST example of what a person can achieve...even with a lifetime surrounded by negativity and difficulties

hmmm, greatest topic indeed, but to me, the greatest warrior never took part in that war hence not on the list, it was shree krishna, in his own words he had the strength to end the war in a blink. if i have to choose then i choose karna and arjun.

Arjuna actually defeated Karna thrice in the Mahabharat.
First time was during Yudhisthira's Rajasuya Yagna when his brothers went and conquered all of Bharatvarsh. Karna was defeated and had to accept Yudhisthira's reign, along with all the other Kings.
Second time was during the Pandavas' vanvaas. When a horde of Gandharvas attacked the Kauravas (who had been trying to humiliate the Pandavas before their run in with the Gandharvas), Karna tried to fight them off but was defeated and humiliated by them, along with Duryodhana, Dushashana, and Shakuni. On the other hand, Arjuna defeated all the Gandharvas single-handedly and brought the imprisoned Kauravas to Yudhisthira, who then showed them mercy and let them go.
Third time was during the battle of Virata. When the Kauravas had all come to attack Virata, Arjuna single-handedly defeated them all, including Karna and Bhishma.
IMO, Karna and Arjuna were equally strong. It was Karna's own Karma than he had to die at the hands of Arjuna while he was without weapons, because he was a participant in the unethical murder of Abhimanyu. If you notice, Krishna orchestrated the death of all the warriors who had killed Abhimanyu, so that they died the same humiliating death as the 14 year old boy.

Eklavya had potential cut off from him, as he presented a threat to Arjunas title of being the best archerer, incomparable.
Bhishma was well established warrior long before the generatipns to come, he acquired the title bhishma the terrible with the oath he took.
Karna strove for and attained extraordinary skill n power and as someone before rightly said he is the best example of what it means to struggle to attain fulfillment even in the midst of so many obstacles, hardships and negativity.
Bheema was physical capabilities were vast
Abhimanyu single handedly took on the kuru army
Dhritarashtra in a similar vein was known for his incredible strength.
Each one and others aforementioned all had one thing or another in which they excelled at, but its a
I reckon Karna and Arjun balanced each other out, both Arjun n Karna lifted the bow of Shiva @ Draupadi swayamvar. and Arjun dfeating the army when he was in disguise says a lot about his potential as does Krishna declaring the impossibility of even nudging the chariot that Karna had managed.to move as it was being held by the gods.
The skills and mastery were unmatched in that age but again as to who was the greatest amongst all the greatness of the greats is a giant question mark esp when some had potential stripped away from them, Karna and eklavya. Until we assess each characters by their individual feats and measure in comparison,
or simply if Krishna had given final word as to who is greatest can we know.
