Box Office: Peddi nears Rs 100 crore, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai earns Rs 8.65 crore, Bandar at Rs 50 lakh

So far, amongst the flock of releases that have swamped the theaters this week, in terms of numbers, Peddi has emerged as the clear winner of the weekend box office race so far. The Ram Charan starrer has continued its impressive run across domestic and overseas markets, pulling in massive numbers within just three days of release.

At the same time, Varun Dhawan's latest comedy entertainer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Anurag Kashyap's gritty drama Bandar have witnessed very different starts at the ticket windows, setting up an interesting contrast between scale, audience reach and theatrical performance.

Peddi Roars Past Rs 150 Crore Worldwide

Ram Charan's latest outing got off to a flying start by collecting Rs 18.50 crore through premiere shows before posting an impressive Rs 51 crore on its first full day in theatres. The film witnessed the expected drop on Friday and earned Rs 26.90 crore, yet its overall performance remains extremely strong.

With these numbers, Peddi's India net collection has reached Rs 96.40 crore. Its domestic gross collection currently stands at Rs 114.49 crore. Overseas markets have also contributed significantly, adding Rs 36 crore to the tally. As a result, the film's worldwide gross collection has already touched Rs 150.49 crore within just three days of release.

For Ram Charan, the numbers are particularly encouraging after the mixed response to Game Changer. The actor appears to have found his footing once again with a film that is drawing audiences in large numbers across regions. But it would still be very interesting to see how things stand over the weekend and so on.

Occupancy Numbers Point Towards Strong Weekend Growth

The latest occupancy figures suggest that Peddi continues to enjoy healthy audience interest. On Saturday, the film registered an overall occupancy of 48.81 percent.

Morning shows opened at 29.85 percent occupancy before improving significantly through the day. Afternoon shows recorded 48.15 percent, evening screenings climbed to 57.08 percent and night shows peaked at 60.15 percent.

The steady rise throughout the day indicates strong walk in audiences and favourable word of mouth. Industry trackers believe the film could witness another major jump during the weekend if the trend continues.

Peddi has already outperformed Game Changer, which had earned Rs 72.60 crore net in India during its first two days. However, it remains behind the phenomenal benchmark set by RRR, which had amassed Rs 223 crore worldwide on its opening day.

The film has also sparked conversations online, with some viewers criticising the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor's character. Several social media users have argued that certain romantic scenes presented as lighthearted entertainment blur important conversations surrounding consent.

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai Begins On A Positive Note

Varun Dhawan's latest release has opened to decent numbers while benefiting from positive audience reactions and reviews. According to the latest estimates, the David Dhawan directorial earned Rs 8.65 crore net at the Indian box office on Friday.

Its worldwide gross collection on the opening day stands at Rs 12.70 crore. While the numbers are nowhere near Peddi's scale, they offer a solid foundation for the comedy entertainer heading into the weekend.

The film revolves around a man whose life turns upside down when he discovers that both his wife and girlfriend are pregnant at the same time. The unusual premise drives the film's humour and chaos. Alongside Varun Dhawan, the movie also features Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur in pivotal roles.

With family audiences traditionally favouring comedy films over the weekend, exhibitors will be hoping for stronger growth in the coming days.

Bobby Deol's Bandar Struggles Despite Positive Reviews

The biggest surprise among the week's releases has been Bandar. Despite earning praise from critics and audiences, particularly for Bobby Deol's performance, the film struggled to translate appreciation into ticket sales on its opening day.

The Anurag Kashyap directorial managed only Rs 50 lakh net on Day 1, with its gross collection reaching Rs 60 lakh. Across 1,365 shows, the film recorded an overall occupancy of 12.58 percent.

Attendance gradually improved through the day. Morning shows registered 3.38 percent occupancy, followed by 6.31 percent in the afternoon. Evening shows climbed to 11.92 percent while night screenings touched 18.08 percent.

Mumbai emerged as the strongest market in terms of occupancy, while Delhi NCR hosted the highest number of screenings. Despite the slow opening, Bandar has still performed better than Kashyap's previous theatrical release Nishaanchi, which had earned only Rs 25 lakh gross on its first day.

As the weekend progresses, all eyes remain on whether positive word of mouth can help Bandar recover ground while Peddi continues its dominant march at the box office.
