SS: Unspoken part 3

Arnav wasn't fully in his awakened state so when he felt a hand stroking his head he took it for an attack and instinctively grabbed the person's arm. "Arnav!" His mother cried and Arnav's eyes shot open looking at her with apologetic eyes. "You're back?"

"Only for an hour - she hasn't given birth yet, and Adi's already back from school. You've slept for quite some time," she said and made him sit up on the couch so she can sit next to him.

She laid her head against the couch and closed her eyes. "You really scared Koshaliya. Arnav, I've told you so many times to be gentle with people."

"You don't understand, I have to be like this or they won't take me seriously. My father was too kind and look at where he ended up."

"Enough," she said sternly as opened her eyes and quickly looked away to hide her tears but Arnav already got a glimpse of them. "I'm trying to keep this place in order so you don't worry about it. You just continue being my mother, okay? Because that's what you're best at." He got up and placed a kiss on her forehead. He left and came back in the living room and passed his mother a bundle of money. "What is this for?" She asked.

"It's two thousand - for Tushar's wife and their baby." He didn't wait to listen to all his mother's praises and prayers for "being so generous and kind hearted."

He snuck his head in his mother's room to find Adi sitting on the floor and doing his homework. Arnav crouched next to him and looked over his math answers. "This one is 13," he corrected Adi's little mistake.

"Abba, is the girl not going to wake up?" He changed topics and looked up at Arnav who shrugged his shoulders in response. "I don't know. She'll wake up whenever she feels like it, I guess."

"Will she stay in this house?" Adi probed.

"Why? Are you that bored that you need a stranger to play with?" Arnav teased but was surprised to see Adi nod his head positively. "She looks nice," he said and Arnav raised his brows at him. "Have you been sneaking into the guest room?"

Adi remained silent for getting caught then grinned wide, showing off his dimples and his eyes narrowing to slits. Arnav chuckled and pinched his chubby cheek before letting him get back to work.

He stopped by the guest room door and looked behind him to make sure that his mother wasn't watching him before opening it and stopping short to see she was sleeping on her side. It was a clear indication that she's alive! He thought. He wanted to shake her awake to answer his questions but he was interrupted when Akash's voice came from the entrance door. He looked back inside for a moment before closing the door shut and going to his friend.

*

Arnav's eyes flew open at the sound of something moving in his house. "Aditya," he hissed through clenched teeth and walked as light as a feather to catch the naughty five year old in his silly antics. He glanced at the clock in the hallway and found it to be just a few minutes past five in the morning.

He clenched his jaw when he felt the cool breeze of the early morning mist coming from the entrance. He took long and quick strides to get to the door and followed the light footsteps in the grass.

He almost froze on the spot when he noticed it wasn't Adi, but the girl. "Hey!" he yelled after her and she looked back once before breaking into a sprint. Arnav wasn't going to let her go of course. Whatever speed she was running at, he ran ten times faster - he had lots of training for unexpected moments like these.

She ran where her feet took her and that meant into the forest. She went in so deep in the bushels of trees that the morning light was barely able to get through the treetops anymore. She was high on adrenaline and felt like she was running with the water with the sound of the rushing tides following her in the same direction that she was running. But her moment of excellence didn't last long when she felt him growing closer. She felt the ground vibrating under feet and the sound of his heavy breathing only a couple feet behind her.

With her nerves working up, she lost concentration and tripped over branches and stumbled some feet away, landing on her butt. She took the thickest piece of wood nearby her and crouched a bit, ready to take him down when she saw a large figure glaring down at her with rage so evident, she was afraid he'd do something terrible.

She swung the wood at him but he was faster - and again, more experienced - when he grabbed the other end and threw it to the side making a loud thudding sound. "You can't run anywhere. Take just another twenty steps ahead and you'll fall straight in the river." Arnav said and took a large step towards her when she turned her head for a split second to inspect the area around her.

"Leave me alone!" She yelled and he stared at her like she was insane. "I saved your life and this is how you thank me?" He spat.

"Where am I anyways?" She asked, clearly shaken as she looked in her surroundings again. He could tell she was ready to flee any moment; the way she was positioned - she was ready to take off as quick as a bullet.

"Amit Sravna," he said and the blood drained from Khushi's face. She stared dumbstruck at him. Her back straightened and she continued to stand there speechless, the only sound coming from her was the loud gulp she took to remove the heavy lump in her throat.

"Where are you from?" He asked her in a calm voice and when she didn't respond because she was still in a state of shock he yelled it the second time. "Where are you from?!"

She flinched and blinked to bring her back to reality. "Um..." She tried to come up with a name but she couldn't. Her mind was blanking! "It's really far away. Not even close to here."

Arnav crossed his arms over his chest. "How did you end up in the water then?"

"I slipped in the stream and I don't know how to swim so..." She looked down in embarrassment. He unfolded his arms and observed the situation in front of him. He looked high above him through the little openings between the treetops and noticed how the day was becoming lighter. His mother would be awake within the next half hour. He looked back down at the girl. "What's your name?"

She debated whether to tell him her name or not but the moment of silence was too long for Arnav because in the next instant, he grabbed her wrist and held it so tightly his knuckles were turning white. With his face just inches above her, he spoke in his most violent tone to make her understand exactly whom she was speaking to.

"I am Arnav Singh Raizada and I own this land, every bit of it, so if you want to spend another second on it, you better follow my rules and that is, when I ask a question, you better answer me! What's your name?" He asked again.

"Khushi, it's Khushi!" She said quickly and tried to twist her arm away but it was causing only more pain. She looked up at him with tears pooling in her eyes and found him staring at her with such intensity, it surely would have sent shivers down her back if she weren't otherwise in so much pain. "Please let go," she pleaded in a quiet voice and immediately felt his hand loosen.

"You're going to come back to my house and act completely normal. My mother has put far too much care towards you for her to get offended if she were to figure out that you tried to run away. If my mother suspects even a bit, you won't be answering to anyone else but me so keep that in mind." He started walking and didn't stop, knowing that she wouldn't try anything funny. Not now.

When they got to the edge of the forest, Arnav stopped and looked down at her to speak to her again for the first time after their bad encounter. "You're going to walk behind me and keep your eyes down casted. People know there's an outsider on this territory so naturally they're very curious to know what you look like. Again, follow what I say and there won't be a problem."

She nodded her head obediently and started to walk behind him. For the most part, she didn't hear a thing. The only sound came from her and the beast's footsteps on the thick green grass.

She snuck a peak and smiled when she saw her surroundings - such lush green grass and trees that it made her heart swell with happiness despite following behind a man so intimidating she didn't know how anyone could ever speak to him in a civilized manner. "No one's out," she said and he looked over his shoulder with furrowed eyebrows. "I told you to keep your eyes down!" He couldn't keep his smirk from forming when she quickly apologized.

"Don't forget what I told you," he said when they reached his house and she nodded her head and quietly walked back to her room.

*

Arnav was sitting in the dining room when his mother came to him in a rush. "She's awake if you want to see her now."

He walked ahead of her and stepped inside giving Khushi a hard glare as a warning before standing by the bed, while his mother sat on the other side of the bed. "Khushi betiya, this is my oldest son, Arnav."

Khushi nodded her head in greeting and pulled the sheets even higher to her chest. He never noticed until just then that she was still in her clothes that he'd found her in - a plain black salwar kameez.

"As long as you are here - " Arnav began but his mother cut him off. "Arnav, how about you wait until you tell her how things work around here," she gave him a knowing look - reminding him to be gentle. "I'm sure Khushi is just starving so change into these clothes," she said looking at Khushi and patting the clothes in front of her on the bed, "and then join us for breakfast."

He left with his mother and sat at the dining room while Avni stood stood some feet away making food. "Arnav, Tushar thanked you a lot. His wife even cried and said how kind you are."

"Uffo! Again with the being kind! Don't make me cut out that little bit from my character too!"

"No one's going to like you like this!" She said with curled lips as she put down a cup of chai in front of him. "Then it'll all work to my liking. Adi! Get up!" He yelled and Avni slapped his head. "We have a guest in the house!"

Just as she said that, Khushi's figure came up in the doorway. She wore the white and purple salwar kameez that Avni left for her and braided her waist long hair to one side. Arnav looked at her for a moment before getting back to the paratha in front of him.

"Sit here," Avni said with a smile and pulled out a seat for Khushi. She put a cup of chai in front of her and two parathas on a plate. "Try to make yourself comfortable here. We're not bad people," Avni said with her unwavering smile and Khushi half smiled before glancing at Arnav and doubting what the mother just said.

Arnav got up and started searching the fridge for fruits. He heard the thumping footsteps of Adi coming towards the kitchen. "Good morning, abba,"Adi greeted - not yet aware that someone extra was sitting at the dining table.

Khushi's eyes grew wide when she heard the little boy calling Arnav father. 'He's a father?' She wondered and the surprise continued when Arnav picked him up in his arms.

"Aditya, have you lost your manners?" Avni chided and Adi looked at her and that's when he noticed Khushi. "Oh..." he said, left dumbstruck that the almost dead girl was alive.

Arnav put him down as the munchkin went to stand in front of his mother. "This is Aditya. My youngest son."

Khushi looked at the woman questioningly then looked at Arnav, confused by the situation. "Adi calls Arnav father."

"Why?" Khushi asked because it was the first question going through her mind but as soon as the word was out, she regretted it.

"You do not ask any questions here, understood?" Arnav said and her cheeks turned beat red, especially because he was so rude with her in front of his own mother and brother, or son, whatever he was.

Avni was never the subject of command for Arnav so she did as she pleased. "Adi's father died before he was born so he calls Arnav father," she tried to explain despite Arnav's shouts in the back.

"Go to school," Arnav handed Adi his tiffin and pushed him out of the kitchen. With his rage already hitting the sky, he stood across Khushi at the table and shouted his words as he pointed at her with his index finger. "Do not ever inquire about our personal lives again!"

He stormed out of the house leaving Avni to shake her head in disappointment and Khushi in sheer terror. What had she gotten herself into?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey all! I should have mentioned this in the first part but I'll do it now. This story takes place in the past. No particular year but it's not in the 21st century so that is why you may notice old fashioned things in this story. Also! I have absolutely no idea about India's geography I obviously made up the names for Arnav's land and for future places, those will also be made up.
I might have to change this to an FF because I have a lot in store and I don't want to rush anything but let's see how it turns out anyways. Thank you all SO much for your kind words. I appreciate it a lot.
Oh God! Arnav already terrorizing Kushi! Would like to know why she got so scared to know where she was. And what is she running away from?
Would be great to know what Arnav is thinking. About her. Is he affected at all. Is that why he is so mean to her?
Thanks for the PM. Really intriguing story.
Amazing and brilliant update,
Loved the update, it was written exceptionally well.
Khushi tried to run but Arnav caught up with, why was he so angry.
Poor Khushi was terrified and already named Arnav as the beast, love it.
Again Arnav was so rude at the breakfast table, shouting at poor Khushi.
The update was a wonderful read,
Eagerly waiting for the next part,
Continue soon please and thanks for the PM xx
