Yes you are right abt the character.. she ain't bubbly .. she is different .. but personal view .. and i would say jenny nails the attitude part of it .. but then as an actor one needs to think about a lot of things .. a lot ..I for instance don't connect her with the entire household or the character sketch that she is from ratnagiri.. to me she is mumbai born and bought , a woman of grace .. now those are nuances..

But i wouldn't blame her much .. every single cast has dissapointed me so far.. even gautam ( the luck actor fo rhim being, he is supposed to be a closed book so he will get away with a lot of things) ..

Anyhow to sum it up.. she has been there in the industry for ages ..the only other work that i have seen i didn;t enjoy her.. but then she wasn't the original in that series..

She is one beautiful, graceful woman .. and i am sure she will do justice to her role.. but one man i really want to take all of these discussions on IF seriously is the director .. they need to be very very very meticulous .. and the writing department ..

Honestly though Jennifer doesn't require any defending. Her talent speaks on her behalf like you said but this one-dimensional view of Kumud's dissection irked me. Of all things, people find Kumud bubbly? 😕 Feels like I'm watching another show.

Not sure I understand what you mean?! You feel she is mumbai-bred? Why?? To me she looks like this determined village girl who has made sure to educate herself and pushed herself unlike any other.

@bold - i guess that is exactly what/ who Kumud is and the way Jenny is playing the role I think all that you mentioned in your post comes across quite clearly. What i'm liking the most is that I dont see one bit of Ridhima in Kumud so really kudos to Jenny

Hey Subbiha!! Oh I miss writing them too but there's nothing to say for that show anymore.

@Bold: Totally!! Not one mannerism reminded me of Riddhima. It's been just Kumud and Kumud only.

Completely agree with u.Might be ppl r not familiar with this kind of character coz either female lead is too serious and all or too bubbly , but Kumud is more of a extract of these too and Jenny is perfect for Kumud with her massive experience . They might need to give some time to understand Kumud character and more importantly an open mind rather than some pre-assumptions of what she should be like, than decide she is opt or not. Its no possible everyone like every single thing in show but v need to give some time before making final assumption.

Well put. Kumud is not EITHER or OR, she is a blend of many characteristics and it's only been one week. There is so much more to come! Neither is Jennifer a black and white actor. She has varied expressions and diction depending on the scene.

I don't know why people have a problem with her clothing. It's SEXY! 😛 Why was her patli kamar the first thing saras saw?🤣 Obviously because her character is meant to allure.

Kumud is not bubbly at all !!! Where have they seen her jumping here and there, hugging everyone for no particular reason and being extra sugar coat sweet with everyone ? Never !! She's a lively person person who likes to have fun but doesn't mean she's doing all those crazy stuff. She's mature in her own way.

Thank you Tehreem 😃

Kumud has a very kind heart but she's not going round trying to make everyone's life happy or being overly affectionate towards anyone.

Hey reemz,Very good topic indeed.I have been replying to threads here & there that SHE IS NOT MEANT TO BUBBLY😆

I'll post my reply here which I posted in one of those topic😳

Kumud is a strong,level-headed girl who strongly believes in her values which Jenny shows aptly.I think she is an actress who can portray various facets to a personality.Since Kumud has so many different shades to her personality,Jenny portrays it perfectly. Many people are saying that Jenny doesn't look innocent but she has the most innocent looks with a different kind of sexiness as quoted by various magazines& other tellywood stars. Being a village girl doesn't mean, you have to be timid,soft-spoken and bubbly. This girl is educated, making her strong & firm in her views and has a never-say-die attitude, that is why she is shown mature and you can notice the confidence in the voice. Kumud is beautiful, and she knows it,she also knows that she is only girl in the village who is modern & has achieved so much and this fact makes her a little proud of herself.(this fact has been said by the makers😉) So as she thinks highly of herself(not in a bad way),she looses her innocent charm a little and the makers also do not want her to be shown as an innocent girl but a strong girl! She looks older than Gautam because she is shown to be mature & she acts older than her age. SC does not have a mother,so he did not have anyone to show him what is wrong or right, just some values which his mother taught him,and in the way that way he became an introvert. He feels lost in this world and alone.
Kumud has fought for education,to improve things in her village and this helped her gain experience and thus a certain maturity is seen on her face. That is why the symbolism of the sun& the moon.Saras has seen darkness all his life, and is serene like the moon while Kumud has seen the colours of life, hence vibrant like the sun. That is why SC's father thinks she is the best one to bring him back to life as he is quite detached from the real world. If you feel she looks older&mature than SC,that means she is playing her part well. Her part is NOT that of innocent, timid village girl but of a traditional, strong village girl.
This is SLB's version of Kumud! He has adapted Kumud to the current times.I also did not like find Gautam's acting good but after watching the show I feel he adapted to the role as SLB wanted him to and now I am liking how he plays his character.

You said it all perfectly though I do not find her seemingly older than GR at all. Never crossed my mind actually. However you're probably right about Kumud being more mature than Saras for the mere reason that she likes to face problems up front but Saras seems like bit of a runner. He tries to escape his problems while Kumud likes to face them with a challenge (with the internet connection for example).

Kumud has an innocent charm but like I said before, you can't view everything through one dimension. She has this sensuality to her as well hence her clothes are classically seductive but I've always thought this was the norm with SLB heroines..

I don't understand is any person one dimensional in real life? People react according to situations and their moods keep changing. Honestly i have'nt seen any bubbly girl (in my sense goofy n dumb) in real life. Such characters are over the top and are very rarely seen. Atleast i have'nt seen. Ppl may enjoy seeing them, because they make you laugh by their silliness, but honestly can you stand such ppl in real life? Can't a strong person be innocent? Innocence is the most abused word i feel, it has become synonymous with being dumb.

Kumud is totally relateable. She is from a village, but she has a thinking of any city girl. She is a very progressive girl. Sometimes, she is angry, sometimes mischievous, sometimes dreamy...etc etc. She is a normal human being with different emotions and such a role can only be played by a versatile actress as Jenny. SLB has hence chosen her. In my pov, call me biased, none could play Kumud as better as Jenny. Period.

Coming to criticism, we know where that comes from 😆

Those potential replacements which certain fans keep harping on about were not suitable for Kumud's character so they can say whatever...SLB and Star Plus went back to Jennifer. These critics should wait to see how Kumud's character grows to understand why no-one but Jen could do justice to this role. Obviously those who hate will continue hating for reasons best known to them...

Kumud is all those things you mentioned. Maybe people can't accept more than two layers to a female lead character?! [:p]

I read about Kumud being bubbly before I watched this week's episodes in its entirety and expected an all-over-the-place, clumsy kinda Kumud, but she's different, of course in all the positive ways!
I love her innocence, within her self-respect; moreover, she values her familys respect and will not tolerate anyone doing otherwise. She's a strong, mature, and very sensible young woman.

PS- good to see you on this forum! :)

Good to see you here!! 😃

Ignore those who classify Kumud as bubbly...they're watching something else 😛 Hope to see you here more btw 😉

Couldn't agree with u more.. 👏 Even I once liked Manvi and Khushi, but quite frankly I'm kind of tired of that kind of characterization b/c it eventually starts getting over the top. The character of Kumud has a perfect blend and Jenny is simply PERFECT!

You're really sweet charmz! Thank you...! :))

Thank you everyone.
