i'm so going to enjoy this show 😃

Thank you!I was just a little pissed off at the constant bashing they were doing to Jenny, criticism is okay but some points were SO wrong so wrote my views! Actually I didn't like Gautam's acting but I think he is right for SC and my views changed. And SLB has take 2 years to improve the characters, some people should atleast respect that.
I am enjoying it now:P

If ppl here don't know, Jenny had rejected the show due to some contractual issues. SLB tried finding a suitable lead, but could not find any better than Jenny. I guess that speaks volumes about her.

I don't understand is any person one dimensional in real life? People react according to situations and their moods keep changing. Honestly i have'nt seen any bubbly girl (in my sense goofy n dumb) in real life. Such characters are over the top and are very rarely seen. Atleast i have'nt seen. Ppl may enjoy seeing them, because they make you laugh by their silliness, but honestly can you stand such ppl in real life? Can't a strong person be innocent? Innocence is the most abused word i feel, it has become synonymous with being dumb.

Kumud is totally relateable. She is from a village, but she has a thinking of any city girl. She is a very progressive girl. Sometimes, she is angry, sometimes mischievous, sometimes dreamy...etc etc. She is a normal human being with different emotions and such a role can only be played by a versatile actress as Jenny. SLB has hence chosen her. In my pov, call me biased, none could play Kumud as better as Jenny. Period.

Coming to criticism, we know where that comes from 😆

You're very right Reemz!
I read about Kumud being bubbly before I watched this week's episodes in its entirety and expected an all-over-the-place, clumsy kinda Kumud, but she's different, of course in all the positive ways!
I love her innocence, within her self-respect; moreover, she values her familys respect and will not tolerate anyone doing otherwise. She's a strong, mature, and very sensible young woman.

PS- good to see you on this forum! :)

@ Reemz... Man oh man.. How much I've missed ur topics/comments.. Once again (as usual) ur bang on! Couldn't agree with u more.. 👏 Even I once liked Manvi and Khushi, but quite frankly I'm kind of tired of that kind of characterization b/c it eventually starts getting over the top. The character of Kumud has a perfect blend and Jenny is simply PERFECT!

You are so right Reema .Exactly my point. Why can't people get out of their confines and see the world as it is?! Kumud has her own identity and a very strong one. She is very strong headed with high morals, pride and self respect. She is intelligent, practical and yes mature! What is wrong in being mature?! Like I don't understand. Why does she have to act like a goofball to look innocent when she can do that with just one look? Hailing from a village she is no less infact far more confident than many city bred girls. The kind of confidence that comes with wisdom. She truly is a woman of substance. And enough on her clothes already. The team of SC have worked for almost 2 years to get everything together, casting costumes etc you think they will not pay attention to the lead's clothes? She has a perfect toned body and the clothes look very good on her.She is the lead in the show and hence was given a look different from Kusum and Kumari. So?

Coming to the actress Jennifer Winget, I totally agree with Reema. She is a powerhouse of talent. She has got into the skin of the character like no one else on the show. Be it the body language, postures, expressions..she has been bang on in each and every scene of hers. Why else do you think Mr Bhansali picked her? Surely he knows more about what and who he wants for Kumud than any of us here , right? As an actress, I think Jenny is one of the prettiest faces on television. She looked fab opposite Gautam in the promos and press conference.. Just can't wait for Monday :D

This is role of a lifetime and Jenny is doing her part with so much honesty.. I hope she gets acknowledged in all the award ceremonies this year.

Apparently because Kumud is a village belle, she cannot show any skin 😕 This is the view of some educated members here. There is something sensual about the way Kumud's character is written which maybe comes from her self-pride. Actually most Yash Chopra and SLB heroines are presented in this beautiful and sensual way.

Jennifer has been Kumud to the T since her very first scene and I'm sure the character's graph will enable her to reach new heights.

@Reemz, the novel is set in 18th century Gujrat...so for that time and period, the author had actually made Kumud to be a progressive woman! (I have read the English translation of the Novel...its considered to be a masterpiece in Gujrati Literature)...She is educated (which in itself is a surprise, because girls in general were not educated at that time), cultured and quite bold for that time...that is why she exchanges letters with her bethored and even meets him before marriage...now in 18th century middle-India, that would have been an unthinkable thing to do!

The only meek thing she does is marry the man whom her family choses for her...but that too happens only when SC betrays her trust. She marries in rebound, not out of helplessness!
Hence, I don't think that SLB has really changed Kumud's original character...he has simply adapted her for the 21st century!
Whatever the case...I do feel that while the overall show suffers from various problems, Jennifer is perfectly cast in the role! She is not just very pretty to look at but has an amazing range of acting! Very rare in today's daily soap leads, who seem to excel in just one type of performance! Either the long-suffering Bahu or the chirpy, OTT girl in love!
Kumud on the other hand seems quite believable and relatable till now!

I was planning to get the novel in English but my mum insisted to get the original Gujju version because she remembers reading it in school. I'll get her to read it to me 😛

I hope they never turn Kumud in to the rotlu bahu. I know she will go through a lot but hopefully the essence of her character remains that of a strong and practical girl.
