More than a decade after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani became a comfort watch for an entire generation, fans are still asking one question. Will there be a sequel?
Ranbir Kapoor has now given a clear answer. During a Valentine’s Day Instagram Live on the official handle of ARKS, the actor addressed the demand head on and finally put speculation to rest.
No Sequel For Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Responding to repeated fan requests, Ranbir shared that while he understands the love for the 2013 romantic drama, he believes the story reached its natural conclusion. According to him, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani had a perfect ending and does not require a second chapter.
He explained that there are too many new ideas, filmmakers and stories waiting to be explored. Revisiting an old favourite simply for nostalgia does not excite him at this stage.
Open To Similar Love Stories
That said, Ranbir was quick to reassure audiences that romance is not off the table. He hinted that he may return to a similar genre in the future, possibly in a fresh story that captures the same emotional spirit fans loved.
For those who grew up with Bunny and Naina, that small tease was enough to spark hope. A sequel may not be happening, but a new age love story featuring Ranbir Kapoor could still be on the horizon.
Big Updates On Upcoming Films
The actor also spoke about his ambitious upcoming slate. He is currently working on Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. The large scale romantic drama has reportedly been delayed due to its grand vision.
Ranbir revealed that projects like Ramayana and Love and War demand more time because of their scale. He also confirmed that Brahmastra Part Two Dev, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is expected to begin sooner than many anticipated. Meanwhile, Animal Park, the sequel to Animal helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is likely to go on floors by mid next year.
During the session, Ranbir also praised Ranveer Singh for his performance in Dhurandhar, showing that healthy admiration among contemporaries is still very much alive in Bollywood.
