Chapter 50

"Adi Sir! Adi Sir!" cried Pinky, glad to finally have tracked him down.

"Uh, yes, P..pinky?"

Looking over her shoulder to see if anyone was watching, Pinky leaned in to whisper, "Adi Sir, I need to show you something."

When he just stared at her, Pinky huffed in exasperation. Grabbing his hand, Pinky started pulling him to get him to follow her. She ignored his stammering protests, too intent on her goal. For his part, Adi was completely overwhelmed and embarrassed to have his hand held by a girl he worked with. Actually, any girl holding his hand was strange, resulting in Pinky's hold producing an unfamiliar sensation throughout his body. The sensation was soon forgotten when they reached Pinky's desk, where she used her computer to show Adi what was so important that she had left her post to come find him.

"Isn't it awful, Adi Sir? This is why everyone in the office is talking about Geet and DD."

"This is Sasha's work," announced Adi confidently, with a heavy dose of disgust. "She's gone too far this time. Maan Sir has to be informed,"

"But who's going to tell him?" questioned Pinky worriedly. "You? I'm certainly not going to, not with the way DD gets angry so easily."

"I think Geet is the best one to bring this to Maan Sir's attention," stated Adi after giving it some thought.

"What do you want me to bring to Maan Sir's attention?" asked Geet, having overheard Adi's last sentence when she came past Pinky's desk.

Pinky motioned her friend to come over behind the reception desk and look at her computer screen. When Geet did so, she saw the most shocking sight. A picture of her and Maan as they had been sleeping that morning had been posted on KC's Facebook page, with the caption, "Exhausted after hot night in the office." Geet couldn't believe what she was seeing in the picture, how her head rested with so much familiarity on Maan's shoulder. If everyone in the office was looking at this picture, then it was no wonder they were saying such cheap, inappropriate things.

"That's what we want you to bring to DD's attention," confirmed Pinky unnecessarily, looking at her friend in understanding and commiseration.

Geet was so angered at the terrible breach of privacy, as well as the clear bad intentions behind the post. She certainly intended to say something to Maan and was all set to rush back to him when she remembered his response to her earlier complaints. Nothing he had said gave her any reason to trust that he do any more than he already had. As far as he was concerned, they didn't have a real marriage and would be divorced in a year, so what people said didn't matter to him. Geet knew that she was the one who would end up baring society's scorn, so she might as well get use to it now.

"No, I'm not going to tell Maan Sir anything, and you don't either. I have done nothing wrong, and I don't need anybody to run tattling to my boss when people start talking behind my back."

"But, Geet, you are DD's wi..."

"Just leave it, Pinky. I am here to work, and nothing else. If the rest of the staff want to put their jobs on the line by useless gossiping, that is their problem. I'm going back to my office now."

"Adi Sir, now what do we do? We can't just let Sasha get away with this!" exclaimed Pinky as she grabbed a bag of chips from the drawer to sooth herself.

"Geet may not want us to speak to Maan Sir, but that doesn't mean that I can't do something."

"So, you are going to tell DD what Sasha did?" came the happy question.

"No, Pinky," he replied, to her disappointment. "If I know Sasha, she will have been very careful not to leave any trail that goes directly back to her. In any case, if Maan Sir were to find out about the picture being on Facebook, he would probably fire the entire office in anger, which isn't really what we want."

"No kidding!" exclaimed Pinky, shuddering at the thought. "I wouldn't mind Sasha getting kicked out on her rear, but with the way the economy is, I wouldn't wish termination on anyone else. But, if you don't tell DD, then what can you do?"

"My job," came the confident response. Adi explained to Pinky what he intended, as well as how he wanted her to respond to anyone who might try to talk to her about the incident. Then he pulled out his cell phone and dialed the number of KC's Head of IT.

In another corner of the huge office complex, Tasha was at her chamchi best. "Sasha...I mean, Ma'am! Silly me. How do you think our plan is working?"

"Not as well as I expected. I thought after all the rumors we spread, that Geet would be so uncomfortable that she would spill the secret behind why MK married her to clear her reputation. I mean, even though they are married, it's obvious that behenji is still very innocent where physical relationship is concerned. At least that's what I thought."

"I don't get you, Ma'am."

"Tasha, a traditional, conservative girl, married or not, would never be able to tolerate the kinds of things that we spread about Geet. I was sure it would be too much for her to take, but I was wrong. Did you see how she just kept walking around the office, talking to people normally?"

"I did see. Silly girl! I don't know what we're going to do now, Ma'am. It was much harder to get the gossip going than I thought it would be. Most of the older employees who know DD's anger didn't even want to view the picture, let alone say anything. If you hadn't hired those three junior architects who like to talk, I don't think I would have been successful at all."

Tasha would have said more, but she was interrupted by an uncharacteristically confident call of Sasha's name from Adi. The tall, bespectacled man was walking toward them purposefully, causing the two women to glance at each other in surprise. Sasha gave a silent indication to Tasha not to say anything, while Adi came to a stop in front of them.

"What is this?" questioned Sasha sharply as Adi put a piece of paper in her hand.

"A Memo to tall the staff that I thought you should be aware of in case any of the junior staff come to you with questions," he stated nonchalantly.

"Memo about what?"

"I think it's self explanatory. Due to some inappropriate postings, KC's Facebook page has temporarily been taken down until some necessary changes can be implemented. The changes that will take place are all listed, but I want to emphasize that making these changes is not the end of the issue. I have the IT staff working on finding out who is responsible, and who ever it is will likely be fired as well as sued."

"Fired! Sued!" exclaimed Tasha in shock, looking at Adi with wide eyes. "Have you talked to DD, I mean, MK about this?"

"I don't need to, yet. KC's web presence falls under my responsibilities, so I will address any issues that come up unless it involves potential termination." Seeing the looks the two women gave him, one fearful, the other killing, Adi pushed up his glasses and said, "I just wanted you to be aware of what's going on, for your own knowledge."

Sasha ripped up the memo angrily as Adi walked away, while Tasha hovered anxiously. "Ma'am, what are we going to do now? I'm the one who took the picture and you used my phone to post it. Oh, I'm going to be fired for sure!"

"Tasha, shut up and get a grip. Delete that picture from your phone and don't worry about the posting. I used a false Facebook ID to post it. If, and this is a big if, they can prove it came from your phone, all you have to do is say that someone else must have taken your phone without your permission. There is no way they can prove anything. That's really not the issue anyway."

"Then what is the issue, Sasha, I mean, Ma'am?"

"This Geet, that's the issue. This extra smart behenji is more of a problem than I realized. She's not going to be so easy to defeat. So far, I've tried to put her in such situations that she will have no choice but to leave in total embarrassment. Any normal person would have given up long back, yet she is still here. Why? How? I need more information before I make another plan."

"What plan are you talking about?"

Precap

"Geet, why were you so insistant to come over for dinner tonight?"

"What kind of question is that, Pinky? You kept telling me that your dad wanted to meet me."
