Part 8

"I will think about it' arohi said. Daadi told her 'think that we are your family too beta, and it is not going to be a trouble, anyhow raashi is going so just go with her, who else is better than someone who knows the city so well. I will call you later to know what you have decided, but please say yes, or else I will feel we were of no use even when we had all facilities in mumbai' , arohi just nodded , she avoided looking at arjun . 'give us your number' daadi asked, arohi had to give her number. No one noticed arjun silently entering it in his cell.

They started to leave and the whole family came out to see them off, jay wanted to leave too . they stopped at the gate again when daadi asked if it was arohi's house and said she loved the garden. Arjun had a smile all through and arohi felt his gaze on her often . She was not sure how to interpret it. For arjun it was tough not to look at her. it was not his fault . he wanted to talk to her somehow but seeing her so serene he just wanted to watch her, how is he going to tell her how he feels about her , his eyes got an unusual intensity in them when he thought of that and that was when she too looked at him . One more second and she would not have been able to look away, but before that raashi called out to him. She watched them leave. Arjun , instead of going on the bike this time, went to the car throwing the bike keys at jay . it was jay's bike? why? doesn't he have one?, how does it matter to you arohi, is this the first bike you are seeing? her inner voice said . she tried not to look in the direction the car went.

Arohi was not feeling good about herself for some reason , why did she look at him so many times. Not to forget the mumbai trip talks, why did bua mention it, how can she go with them, she doesnot know them so well , but it is matter of just 2 weeks , it is better with them than some strange place , she deliberated for some more time, and without any outcome went to bed. Why is she getting disturbed whenever he looks at her, is she imagining things or have the looks changed?. She tossed a couple of times , when she remembered arjun getting down the bike. This was something she had almost forgotten, she loved bikes . in her teens she had even told that her dream ride would be going on a long drive on a bike , and got teased by her cousins and friends for a long time, even after she said that it was just a silly wish of hers and she imagined no one. She had a slight smile when she remembered that incident. Then she thought she is being stupid thinking of bike and arjun at the same time. She turned around , tonight also guddi had come in her bed. She ran a hand through her hair and went to sleep , finally.

It was Monday , a busy day for the teachers and a delightful day for kids, they loved to come to school, they were allowed to do so much and they loved to learn a new thing each day which helps them in their communication with people. Arohi was going through some material when her colleague came to her. 'what the matter arohi' 'huh?' 'you look a little different today ' 'me? what kind of difference' 'dont know, there is some change , you look happy' ' I am happy everyday' 'I know you are but today there is something new about you , and it looks good' 'I don't feel any different, but thank you' she smiled while being surprised that there was some change others noticed that she herself did not feel . 'what happened to mumbai, we have already paid for the workshop' 'yes, I am still on it' 'and we also promised during the school day that we will get one certified teacher in art therapy' 'don't worry I will go , just thinking of accomodation' 'okay, anyways it is just for two weeks I am sure you will find a decent place in mumbai , see you' she left .

Arjun woke up late. He liked mumbai for the reason that he got busy from the time he woke up till he slept, here as long as the work at the mills doesnot start he is going to have some time on hands. He thought of arohi, she was looking so embarrassed when asked to come with. God please make her to agree, what more can he ask other than spending two weeks looking at her staying in the same house, which he wanted to do forever by the way. He was tempted to call her. somehow her innocent face stopped him everytime he felt like talking to her , she has no idea how he feels and he didnot want to be hasty.

After two busy days for all of them and many 'tempted but resisted' attempts from arjun to call arohi , raashi called arohi. she wanted to meet arohi and went to her home. She was impressed a lot by the interior and the arohi's taste , they had some cordial talk in the beginning but raashi's nature soon made arohi feel at ease. 'come with us , really , you don't have to spend time looking for a place , we have enough room for everyone' 'okay' said arohi this time. 'aaah' said raashi loudly 'thank you , we will all have a good time, we will on saturday , is that okay? we will all go in the car , it will be fun' 'yeah saturday is fine' said arohi smiling at raashi's excitement 'you know your smile is so good, no wonder my '' raashi stopped her sentence. 'thank you ' arohi said not getting the last line, 'your sister is very cute too, you both resemble so much , I wish I had a sister, I would have loved fighting over sharing things and all the other stuff' arohi cld only laugh 'when arjun gets married , I will get a sister and we both will make him cry' arohi's heart , against her own will , fluttered/sank/skipped at this, if raashi's brother marries why is feeling like she did not like hearing that arjun will marry someone, luckily raashi got ready to leave , she said she will call her on Friday to tell at what time they will leave .

She called arjun on her way home , 'be ready to eat whatever I make , no excuse , that is the reward I want for convincing someone to come with us' . 'you did?' arjun almost screamed , causing rudra and jignesh and other assembled staff to wonder what such exciting news was. He became hyper after that with his 'dad this...' 'dad that...', rudra however had something else to tell him. That arjun will have to leave to mumbai on thrusday as opposed to the weekend, he had no idea it would upset arjun a lot.

When rudra told him , arjun felt deflated. All the energy was pumped off. 'what ?, why cant jignesh go , dad I have couple of things to take care of here' 'what things?' , errr things like traveling with arohi , 'you know , I mean jay is having a party for friends and ..' 'arjun , seriously? You want to put on hold a business meeting, for which you know you have to be present , for a party?' he looked at arjun like he was seeing a stranger, 'no I mean not just the party but '' 'but what , look arjun I am ready to agree to whatever you decide later , but you said you are here to help me until atleast the mill starts and then you can take of our mumbai businesses , I don't understand how a party is more important to you than work' it was too soon to tell dad about anything 'fine I will go , I hope there is no time constraint as to when I am coming back' ' where is this coming from? you know I never force you to do things, I know you will give priority to work and you can come back whenever u want but the business meetings, tender quotes etc take care of them, you will leave tomorrow'.

That night arjun could not help, he called arohi. Arohi was surprised to see someone calling her in the night, if it is bua she just walks over to the house. 'hello' 'hi its me , arjun' her grip on the phone tightened , why is he calling her 'hope I did not disturb you, I mean sorry for calling you so late' 'no it is fine, I wasn't sleeping yet' 'oh good' 'how did you '. I mean my number' 'oh , that day when you were giving ur number I just noted down , just in case' god he was feeling like a fool, he never had difficulty talking to a girl 'oh' arohi felt a blush just in case? 'the reason I called is to say thanks to you for agreeing to coming with us to mumbai, I assure you your stay will be very comfortable' it was like talking to a customer he thought 'you will like mumbai a lot, it is a place to be' 'oh thanks , I will look forward to it' she bit her tongue look forward to it ? why did she say that , he slept on his back keeping one hand on his heart look forward to it?, she is looking forward to come with us , 'don't expect sanity though , you will be with raashi and that means losing one's sanity' arohi snubbed her laugh 'that is what I am looking forward to' she said , he smiled 'Aarohi' he said with a change in tone that had nothing but love , her heart skipped a beat when she heard him say that 'yeah ?' 'thanks again for coming' She was silent for a moment 'oh I should be thankful , see you later , goodnight' she said softly 'goodnight' he said matching her tone. It was only after a while he realized he did not tell her that he will be going ahead and wont be joining them on Saturday. He called her again , arohi who was still holding the phone going through the convo, took the call. 'hello' 'sorry to call you again' she was surprised that he called her again within minutes 'no not a problem but ..' 'sorry I will keep this short , just wanted to say have a nice journey to mumbai, I am leaving early so I wont be able to join you all' there was silence from her first , she felt disappointed, what is wrong arohi first you did not want to go then you want to go now you are disappointed he wont be there, that is a little scary don't you think , 'oh ok, thank you , sanchit probably is joing me , and raasi is a good company' 'she is , but I will miss the journey with you'I mean with you all, but to make up to it, I will be a good host and will be ready to receive you all there' she was silent again 'good night aarohi' he had to resist hard not to say sweet dreams. 'goodnight' she said . she felt a void suddenly.
