Gopi asks why MK was still waiting , warns MK not to even sleep in the direction of his house and closes the door on MK's face. Selvarani is bombarded, her mother comes in support of her daughter when told that she is going around with Karthik, but relents when she comes to know it is MK. Gopi talks of their status and MK's status.. Selvarani says MK is of a very high status compared to their's because he does not cheat or blackmail people but works. Gopi raises his hand on his daughter, blames the mother for not having brought her up properly, warns that he will lose (tholachipuduven) the mother if the daughter steps out of the house...
Anu's household - Adhi's parents visit with shopping bags... ask for Nivedha, Adhi's father asks his wife Vasanthi to show the saris they have purchased to their daughter in law. Anu is happy.. Adhi's father says each one liked a colour so they picked all of them (vaazhvuthaan) , for all occasions from the engagement to the wedding... Vasanthi tells they can exchange if Nivedha doesnt like any.... Nivedha is very happy, says she likes everything. RR joins in.. chides Anu for not even giving them anything to drink, Nivedha offers to make coffee... RR wonders about the sari shop at home.. is updated by the in-laws. RR wants to have a grand engagement ceremony. Adhi's parents take leave after having the coffee served by Nivedha.. Nivedha gets teased by her parents, feels shy..
Gopi's household - he is trying to sweet talk Selvarani to forget MK, tells as parents they are interested in her welfare. Selva is steadfast about her love, says that he did not cheat people of their wealth, just lied for love.. MK enters, Gopi shouts at him.. MK says at first he did not know about the aaL maaraattam, but when he did know, he was already in love with Selva... Usha asks him about his family, says he has parents but no siblings, is staying away from his parents because they dont like his job of mechanic. MK continues saying he would be like a son and take care of them if they accept him as son in law. Usha asks him to bring his parents, Gopi as usual keeps shouting. MK takes leave. Gopi asks Usha why this back stabbing, she talks practically and says MK would definitely take care of Selva and come up in life, that RR would never accept Selva to be his DIL...
Adhi's house - Vasanthi tells her husband with only 4 days left for the engagement preparations are not in full swing. Husband tells her not to get tensed. Vasanthi says that saris and jewels have to be bought for the bride (first scenela kaattina saris ??) Some scenes missing in between.... Adhi's father tells a visitor that he was to come to their house to invite for Adhi's engagement on Friday. The guy asks about the bride. Says he knows RR too well, that the girl is in college and is very young. Adhi's father says that this girl has finished her studies... that RR has two daughters and a son, the visitor says RR has only one daughter and one son... the visitor says some confusion, to do some investigation... shocked faces of Adhi's family..
