What do people here think of Kamal Kishore Sharma? Do you admire him, or do you have several problems w/ him? Like him being confined to his wheelchair, not taking the initiative to do anything, and being so whiny?

I have a real problem w/ KK. If Padma hates Jyoti to the hilt, KK supports her blindly, regardless of the repercussions it has on others - whether it was Jyoti hiding things from the Vashisths, or now, Jyoti being the reason for Deepu, and thereby Poonam's marriage being delayed. Why doesn't KK consider the inconveniences to people other than Jyoti? The Trivedis are a family that have generously decided to gloss over the baggage that this dysfunctional family has, and have even gotten their daughter engaged, and now, they are told to wait indefintely - possibly even 7 years - until Jyoti's issue is resolved. Yeah, by signing the divorce, Jyoti made it easy, but what if Pankaj had refused, and she hadn't? Poor Poonam would be expected to wait 7 years? Remember, she's in a society where if the engagement breaks off, it's her reputation, rather than Sandeep's that'll get affected, and what's worse, people will say that she's such a loser that even a dysfunctional family like the Sharmas didn't accept her. If KK agreed w/ this, why didn't he support Deepu and stop Jyoti from hunting for rishtas?

Then there is the whole saga w/ Jyoti. These days, KK supported Deepu when he sabotaged Padma's lie, even letting the rishta go, but in the past, even when Jyoti wanted to fess up, KK prevented her. Had Pankaj known about Brij/Sushma before Brij surfaced in his life, he might have been more tolerant of Jyoti. Even had he kicked her out, Jyoti wouldn't have been pregnant by then. But Jyoti following KK's (and Kalpana's) stupid advice cost her.

Anybody agree w/ me on this?

totally agree! although i do pity him. i think he feels a compulsive need to support jyoti 100% of the time purely to compensate for padma being so evil and jyoti on the other hand doing so much for everyone else

I think he is portrayed as a complete foil to Padma.
She blindly hates and mistrusts Jyoti, and he blindly loves and trusts her.
And just like how Padma always tried to cover up and dismiss any mistakes made by Deepu and Sushma, KK is that person for Jyoti and Sudha. He's always supporting them and taking their side.
He seems to be more emotional than sensible, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it can be terrible in some situations (like when they wenr over to the Vashishts to tell Pankaj about his child, Dadi got pissed and almost slapped Pankaj, but KK sat there and gave an emotional speech, for which CM kicked him out)
I agree that the whole Poonam situation could have been handled differently. The Sharma family and Deepu was turned down so many times, they should have done everything in their power to keep up relations with the Trivedi's. They could have explained the whole situatuion to the Trivedi's and then asked for their opinion on the future course of action, not completely block them out in this way.
But atleast KK is less annoying a character than dadi and her random dialogues

^^^KK does cover up Jyoti's mistakes, but not Sudha's. If you recall, when Sudha received her bail and was taken home, and Dadi & Padma refused to let her in, KK refused to raise his voice for Sudha: in the end, the only person doing that was Pankaj.
You are right that he's more emotional than sensible, but that's a terrible quality to have in a father/hubby, although not so bad w/ a mom/wife. In a family, the men are supposed to be the one's making the sensible decisions w/o emotional considerations, while women are supposed to consider the emotional impact of those. But in this family, where KK is genderly outnumbered 5:2, and where he has to spend 24 hours in the company of just women (when Deepu is out working), this sort of an environment does seem to have affected his thinking, and made it more effiminate.
I also think that Deepu should have been upbraided for unilaterally going to the Trivedis and trying to postpone the marriage: what was worst was Deepu telling them that he's not ready for marriage (after they are engaged, and remember, it was the Sharmas, in the form of Jyoti, who approached the Trivedis for her hand).
Somehow, I just hate how Jyoti is the only one who uses her brains at times, even though she too reacts too emotionally to most situations.

Even though u dont have the option up there, but I'd vote for all of the above. Not only is he a whiny loser who could do nothing worthwhile with his life, but he also supports Jyoti's every decision and screams at Padma even when she really hasnt done anything wrong. He is rly one of the most annoying characters in the show.

^^^^I allowed multiple options so that you could vote for all of the above, or any combination of the above. And I agree w/ you - I find him the most annoying and sanctimonious character, and pity all his kids, and his wife. Even Dadi seems less uptight.

Re: Padma, I rarely feel for her, but in today's episode, when Jyoti revealed to her that Deepu took the scooter to take Poonam out on a date, Padma tried to recall when KK did the same for her, but stopped herself, knowing that she didn't. KK looked mildly embarassed. I did feel for Padma, since she was forced @ 18 to marry not b'cos KK loved her, but just to use her to raise Jyoti & Sudha. I really wish an offer similar to Jyoti's came her way to divorce KK, and she took it. Right now, this dude is just a ball and chain for her, nothing more, nothing less.

You just have to vote repeatedly for the different options, that's all.
