Bollywood has limited reach. Barring South Asian diaspora and their white friends, nobody cares about any Bollywood star. Only kdrama stars I would say have global appeal right now among non English speaking industries. There is a reason why the met gala anchor did not know who SRK was and it was not surprising.

Expecting everyone to know global cinema stars is unrealistic.....Shah Rukh Khan is a massive global icon....However, familiarity requires exposure to Indian media....Just as someone in rural India might not know Tom Cruise, most Westerners without exposure to Bollywood won't know SRK....Cultural awareness is entirely relative to geographic and media exposure....It is absurd to expect the entire world to know one actor.....Shaming people for not knowing a celebrity shows lack of empathy....Your judgment here is completely uncalled for.....

I mean chinese and indian look completely diff..if an average white person cannot differentiate between these two ethnicities..that would make them dumb..i am sorry but thats what it is..also tom cruise and Anjelina jolie..even village people in pak/india know them..that is what popularity is..and trust me shah is a global legend..

Playing safe,pretty looks at met,Cannes- is just a display of deep insecurity about one's appearance. Take chances,instead of being bland. The stunners can afford to experiment..but others must give it a try. People will applaud the effort.

It's also right that SRK certainly isn't forcibly known by Western fashion afficionados... and why should common people who never came in contact with Indians/Indian life/Indian filmindustry know who SRK is? ... However, when presenting someone on a global platform, at least the interviewers/presenters should know the basics of who this person is they talk to - to me, it's more negative for them then for him or does one really think that the presenters/interviewers would know beforehand all of the about 450 persons who present dresses??? It was an information-failure from those who organise these interviews. Yet, I'm sure that Anna Wintour knows him
