What is this ????? Is this a fanclub where only sycophancy and blind worshipping is allowed ?

What does being a Hindu has to do with number of temple visits and what rituals one performs within closed doors and what jaapa mala or kaalva one is wearing etc. ??? This in and of itself is a very narrow very limiting definition of practice of faith . So people who do not do all these are not Hindus by default ? I rarely visit temples. Perhaps once or twice a year and that too when I'm on a vacation or tour and the temple falls within local sightseeing. So , I'm not a Sanatani ? I know a lot of Gen Z kids who do not frequently visit temple because of lack of time mainly . So what do they become?

Very well then it applies to everyone , shouldn't it ? So , anyone who's not keeping Roza during ramzan and any male person not visiting local mosque on Friday are not to be considered Muslims ? Same rules apply for other religions like Christians, Jewish, Buddhist .. ?

As long as a person identify themselves as a practicer of a faith ,that is enough. That is OK. No one needs to live life a certain way to qualify as a Sanatani as our religion is far more liberal than that.

What is, however, not ok , is to openly spew venom against the faith , mock it and the people who practice it. Not to openly call out for it's demise !

It is shameful that people are attacking those who found such comments offensive instead of calling out such sensitive and super offensive comments ! We're definitely living in an altered reality. Kaliyugam indeed !

A hindu is one who takes pride in that identity and not bash the faith day and night in freaking assembly!

Also, what is this unhealthy obsession with a political party that only gained about 3 % votes in the TN election ? It is super weird ! What is this stupidity where one thinks everything and everyone is working for bjp !

But then I saw a lot of people blame the governor for not " allowing " smiley5 Vijay to form government , calling him NDA ka agent and what not ! Absolutely shameless and lack of basic knowledge of constitution. He was literally doing the job he's appointed for and was saving your CM elect from abject humiliation later. Without preparedness, his government wouldn't have survived for a month and then entire state would have to go through re election. smiley44 Do they have any idea what kind of resource is spent on a single election for a state the size of Tamilnadu ???

As for national and anti national, it's quite simple actually. A true national would always think of his country over and above all other identities , be it regional or religious or caste or state. Nation first for a national. Opposite to that mentality and a feeling of hostility and disdain for the country is being anti national. Behavior itself is the proof . Kaun kitne bar Mandir masjid ya girja jaa raha hai ya nehi jaa raha hai usse koi farq nehi padta aur na hi padna chahiye.

If anyone questions Vijay's educational qualifications? Bla bla bla bjp supporter bla bla bla smiley29

If anyone questions presence of his mistress in a freaking national level event ? Bla bla bla bjp supporter bla bla bla smiley29

If anyone questions why didn't he protest when that scum Stalin was calling for demise of the faith practiced by majority people of his state ? Bla bla bla bjp supporters bla bla bla smiley36 His promise was for secularism. He is not a religious leader, he's the freaking CM of the state that includes all faiths including Hindus.

Imagine a member of opposition party calling for eradication of Christians or Muslims and a BJP CM standing mum . That'd have been made into a national news, perhaps international ! To showcase how minorities (35 % ! and ever increasing ! ) are being suppressed oppressed iron pressed in bjp states and by nda government !smiley19

Haa bhai hu, hu Bjp supporter . smiley36 And ? Everyone supports some party or other . By this utter foolish rule, no one should say anything , then we should just shut shop because no one qualifies to take part in this thread ! Do we know which party each member is affiliated with ??? What is their specific political ideologies and how that colors their world views ?Did they disclose that ?

Then , why is a certain section being attacked ?? Repeatedly ?

Shameless disgusting behavior. But expected in India forums.

This is why I'm glad Annamalai Anna didn't take part in TN election. Was watching his debate with Sashi Tharoor and was mesmerized with how polite yet erudite and eloquent he is . His talent is better utilized at a national level. I see in him the future PM of India after Modi Ji. A man who fiercely loves his state and it's people , yet also a true Indian and a true Sanatani . His love for his faith and nation strengthened him , made him a better person , not limiting him into putting others down in an assembly circus.

People get the government they deserve if the election process is fair .

The simple fact still remains that nowhere in our mythology or history or any of the religious core texts our religion was ever called as Hinduism or our people as Hindu. Sanatan dharma or simply dharma ( since at that time no other religion existed in or around the civilization ) was how it's referred always. Only after foreign invasion, they started calling us Hindus because of a very narrow very truncated idea about our religion that actually encompassed many types of faith under one umbrella, including many tribal faiths , and was spread far beyond Indus Valley.

So this term itself, Hinduism, carries a heavy weight of shame and pain and anger because it is a reminder of what has been done to us by repeated invasion by Abrahamic religions.

We started calling ourselves Hindus only because that is what we were being called by others, not out of choice but out of compulsion . And then it got part of vocabulary like so many words, that originally carried a negative connotation.

For e.g, the word Negro was once used to describe blacks when they were slaves . They never chose to be called Negros or niggers. It was coined as part of their painful history of slavery. Just like blackface.

Therefore this word is now no longer considered as an acceptable term to use for blacks. Even the word nigga or nigger is unacceptable unless used by blacks for each other and not by other races.

The word Hindu is what we were described by those who neither understood us, nor respected our culture , considered us as "other" or "lesser" and wanted to deny how ancient and widespread our dharma was and how many different often opposing ideologies it accepted and embraced within it.

People often quote texts like Brihaspati agam, meru tantra or madhav digvijay to claim that Hindu word indeed was a part of our lingo ... Ab maine toh teeno hi texts padh nahi rakhe hain .. smiley36 And there is also debate around the exact date of these verse - whether they were always there or were much later additions... Here it goes...

The land between Himalayas and Indu Sagar ( Indian Ocean), God created a country called Hindusthan.. Brihaspati Agam - I have seen Sadhguru quote this multiple times.....

One who meditates on Omkar as the primary sound, believes in Reincarnation and rebirth, respects cow to the most, and hate evil can be called as Hindu - Madhav Digvijay...

One who renounces ignorance and inferiority is Hindu - Meru Tantra - Shiva tells Parvati...

If some expert on ancient Indian texts is roaming around on IF then he or she can throw some more light on this btw.. smiley36

and then there are some other references given in this article .. If u find time u can go through it.. Ignore what is written about other religions.. I think its false..

Bharat however is clearly the word that we gave to ourselves and there is a consensus around it so its there in the constitution as well alongside India..

These random texts have no validity and no authenticity. These are just random books written by random people. Sanatan dharma has lakhs of books written on dharma , just like any religion has many books on religious texts. That doesn't mean they've any relevance. smiley36

Only core texts are authentic. They're the pillars of dharma. In none of them the word Hindu or Hinduism is even mentioned, forget identify as one.smiley37

Rest, all these books have no significance. Utterly irrelevant. Aise books har din koi na koi likh raha hai. Koi farq nehi padta inse.smiley36

If tomorrow I, a hindu, write a book on Hinduism and start calling it jhugli jhugli jhul jhula , would anyone accept it ?smiley36

By definition, the core texts of Dharma are - Vedas , Upanishads, Ramayan , Mahabharat, some of the oldest Puranas like Bhagvat Puran. They're equivalent to what Quran Sharif is for Islam and Holy Bible is for Christianity.

Rest everything, including all smritis like Manusmriti are basically extrapolations or religious texts or research and discussions, that any religious scholars can write. But only the above core texts are considered timeless as they're not written but revealed to the world by ancient sages. It is even said if Vedas get lost in time, again they'll be revealed to the sages of other times , for the benefit of mankind as the message and knowledge of Vedas can never disappear. They're tied to the creation of the world. They contain the secret of creation.

The whole story of some asura stealing Vedas and throwing it into the ocean , then Lord Vishnu recovering it , is actually symbolic , metaphorical. It signifies that time is like an ocean and Vedas can be lost in the depths of it temporarily but they can not be destroyed. They'll be recovered by divinity when they're needed again for creation.
