Did you know, for around 5 days, I just slept for 18 hours daily?? And the only reason none freaked out at home was because this was the only break I got since July last year.

And then I also wrote something, visited friends and all.

So, I think I have been fairly lazy.

I'm sorry to hear about your job. I'm sure you'll get another job soon because you've experience in teaching and profound knowledge of English literature. I understand you got a lot of time to read in May. Still, your total page count of May is great! If I only read, eat and sleep for 1 month, I won't be able to read more than 7000 pages.

Don't be sad about my unemployment - I am seasoned in the university culture of contractual labour, which will rehire me in July/August.

@bold I guess it might or might not be the case. I mean, if you are going to read 2 of the popular chinese novels of 200+ chapters each - you can finish reading them quickly. Because they are easy to understand and read. However, if you take classics of 200 pages, they will need more time to understand and read. My point is, your reading pace is highly affected by the choice of texts you pick. If you read more classicals, then you read more pages than someone who read regular fiction or formula works.

I have the last book in Liz Tomforde’s series pending smiley9 If you haven’t finished it yet, we can totally buddy read it!
I’m also going to check out your recommendations for Elsie Silver smiley14 She’s surprisingly good!

@b: Arre!! smiley13 I didn’t know, varna I would’ve buddy read it with you! I don’t mind reading it a second time with you smiley36 (I won’t be entering it in the log though.)

Miss Shibani had a lot of thrillers listed in her log, so I’m planning to give them all a try 🙂‍↕️
Of course, I’m also planning to read a lot of LGBTQ+ books!smiley16

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, my stalking list keeps getting longer every month. First I was stalking Lizzie and WD's logs, now Shibani too. Some of those thrillers look really tempting.

I completely agree with what you said about classic literature. Yes, it takes a lot of time to understand classics. If someone selects a drama written by William Shakespeare or Christopher Marlowe, he/she will need much more time to finish that drama compared to someone who has chosen Frieda McFadden's novel. That's doesn't mean I don't like Frieda McFadden's books. I enjoy reading them. It's just that they're way easier to understand and read compared to Shakespeare or Marlowe's plays.

Absolutely true. I enjoy all of them - classics to cringiest fanfictions - each of them have their own charm. And there is no one better than the other.
