CHAPTER - 4

Two days after the distressed night, Imlie had to attend a journalism seminar. She was excited to get a ticket for it after much efforts.She was with her friend Arya. They were talking about how they made sad faces to convince the professor and got the tickets.

Suddenly she received a call from Khushi’s mom.

“Imlie beta I wanted to talk to you. It’s urgent”

“ Namaste aunty. Sab theek hai naa”

“Beta theek nahi hai. I tried calling Khushi but she is not picking the call. She must be angry. She also has a hot temper like her dad. I wanted you to convey a message to her that she needs to change the place of her stay. Her cousin's brother along with some of his friends are planning to get her home after discussions with her dad. I know about Keshav and that she loves him very much. She is ziddi. I know she won’t listen. I want my daughter to always be safe. The boys have a bad temper I don’t know what may happen in the heat of the moment” Imlie had told Arya to go inside when she got the call and was standing at the entrance of the building.

Imlie realized that her talking to Khushi and planning her safety is more important than the seminar. She had to leave urgently. She messaged Arya that she needs to leave for an emergency and will meet her tomorrow at college.

She turned and bumped into a big thing or person she wasn’t sure. She looked up. It was Aryan.

“Hey Imlie. How are you?”

“All well Aryan, I need to rush, i’ll talk to you later please”

“ Sab theek hai na. Kya hua? Please batao, ruko tum” He had become an expert at reading her face in just one meeting.

“ Yeah I will call you in the evening, don’t worry” she didn’t want to bother Aryan again.

Aryan directed one of his security guards to be with her without her knowledge to confirm she was fine.

He then proceeded to the seminar where he was the chief guest and gave a special speech to the students at the request of the principal of the organizing college.

Evening after their dinner he was sitting with his mom and sister in the living room. He checked his phone almost every 20 mins today since evening expecting a call from Imlie. He already knew from security in charge that things looked ok as she went to her hostel directly. He was relieved but still wanted to hear her voice.

“ Or probably she won’t call. Sometimes we just say things like that to friends but we forget to call. Yeah she won’t call” Aryan was calculating the probability of her call in his mind.

“ Aryannnnnn, kitni der se bula rahi hun. Kahan khoya hai?” Arpi almost screamed this time in his ear.

“ Ma was telling us that our cousin Kashish is getting married. She is 2 years younger than you” Teasing her brother.

“Nice” Aryan was never interested in marriage talks.

“ Ma he is so boring, one word main baat karta hai. His wife will get such a boring life partner. He toh won’t talk only she will have to do all the talking” Arpita loved to see Aryan rolling his eyes.

“ Yes, Arpita. Opposites attract, I think he will get a wife who will love to talk. Iske hisse ka bhi” Narmada and Arpita started giggling.

Aryan got a flashback of his walk with Imlie and how she was the only one talking most of the time.

“ Aryannnnn, Tera phone. What is up with this boy today. Why are you so lost ?”

Aryan looked at the phone, it was her. He suddenly got a little nervous. Three rings and Imlie disconnected thinking he may be busy. He didn’t want to miss this chance to talk to her.

“ Ma Didi, I have some urgent business calls, I am going to my room. Good night”

He walked as fast as he could to his room and closed the door. In no situation he wanted his family to know about her yet. They aren’t used to him getting any girl’s phone calls and may think otherwise.

“ Aisa kuch hai hi nahi I know. I have to talk to her only to make sure she is okay and nothing else”Aryan thought while dialing her number.

“ Hello Aryan, hope I didn’t disturb you. Sorry taab baat nahi hui. How are you?”

“ I am good. What’s going on with you? You looked tense when we met. All well right?” Aryan wanted confirmation.

“ Yes, all is well now. That time you are right I was a little stressed”

“ Do you want to talk about it? Is there anything I can do to help?” Aryan got a little worried now.

“ Yeah, it’s Khushi and Keshav’s thing…I got a call…..”

She narrated all the new developments to him.

“But I am glad it’s all sorted and they are planning to move to their common friends place in Shimla for a few months. Their parents don’t have any clue about this friend and they will be safe” Infact they are leaving in an hour. Hey if possible you also come na to drop them at the airport if it’s not too late for you. Thoda late toh hai it's a 10 pm flight but they will feel good. Only if you feel like I don’t want to force you. It may be your bedtime and I have heard how bosses at the office just wait for opportunities when the employees get a few minutes late, only if it’s feasible you come or else I can convey your goodbye message “ she was in a good mood as her friend will be safe and with her love now.

“ I will come “ he didn’t wait for a second to confirm it.

“ Cool, see you outside Departure Gate 4 in 1 hour. Bye”

Aryan told his mom that he needs to leave and will be back in 2 hours. He went to his room to get ready. Narmada called the head staff to instruct the driver available to be ready for Aryan.

Aryan came out of the main door and saw the driver waiting for him.

“ I will drive” he signaled the driver.

He didn’t like to drive himself as he got many calls and had to take a shoulder many times due to urgent calls. He preferred a driver as he could attend some international calls in early morning and late evening during the drives back home.

He reached the airport on time and met everyone. Imlie was wearing a short rose gold kurti salwar and open hair… She looked very beautiful. Aryan was wearing a casual shirt and jeans with messy hair…he was looking very handsome. They looked at each other and smiled before Keshav and Khushi saw him.

“ Hi Aryan. Tum yahan? “ Khushi was surprised.

“ Voh main “

“ I called him. I wanted to surprise you guys” Imlie gave another side hug to Khushi.

The flight was on time and the newlyweds had to leave now.

“ Bye mere prem ke do panchi, always stay together “

Imlie’s final hug to Khushi before she goes. Both couldn’t hold their tears.

“They have hugged each other for 20 times in last half hour” Keshav smiled looking at Aryan

“ Le jaun apni biwi ko with your permission Ma’am?” He wanted to bring a smile to their faces.

“ Ja Khushi ja ji le apni zindagi “ Imlie said putting Khushi’s hand in Keshav’s.

“ You and your filmy romance” Khushi said, she was glad Imlie smiled. She knew Imlie wasn’t happy at the thought of them living miles apart but being the mature and strong girl Imlie is, she understood it’s important for Khushi at this time.

“ I will be worried for you Imlie pagal. Dhayaan rakhna “ Khushi knew she had Keshav but Imlie may feel alone for sometime at least.

“Hug time guys” Keshav said as they had to leave in the next one minute. They did a group hug- Keshav, Khushi, Imlie and Aryan in clockwise position. They left after that.

Imlie had told her cab driver to wait as it gets difficult to get cabs late at night in Delhi. She trusted this driver and used his cab whenever she needed to. He called him Amit bhaiya and she knew his wife too. Amit stayed near their college and his wife also worked in the college as library helper.

“ Thank you so much Aryan for coming over, they were excited to see you”

“ Pleasure is all mine” Aryan had all the gentlemanly habits in him.

“Listen I need to leave now, my cab is already waiting at P2” Imlie said pointing to the parking lot

“ I can drop you. If you don’t mind we can have a quick ice cream to celebrate our friends starting their new journey” Aryan just wanted her to stay for a bit longer. She is the only friend he had spent some quality time with recently after all.

“ That sounds like a plan. I just love icecreams. Let me inform Amit bhaiya” Imlie got excited like a child.

“This girl is such a cutie” Aryan was just thinking this when Imlie checked “ Kuch kaha tumne?”

“ No, nothhhing” Aryan quickly responded and started walking. He wasn’t sure if she heard it but was feeling embarrassed himself thinking what if she did.

“Can we eat at Zoya’s ice cream parlour near our hostel? You will love it, they have the best ice creams"

"Yes, sure" Aryan was thinking about his no carbs after 8 pm rule and should he break it or try to get some healthier version of a dessert.

" Let me guess - You are the calorie cautious kind of person and you will prefer something with less sugar, Am I right?

" If possible, yes" Aryan liked how she guessed his preference right.

" Bhaiya one Zoya famous low calorie fruit bowl and one sundae with one scoop of black raspberry chip and one of dutch chocolate topped with whipped cream, nuts and melted chocolate syrup"

"It's my treat Aryan" She said as she sat on a table outside the ice cream store. Before Aryan could say anything

" I am very very happy today, Khushi got to be with the love of her life"

" Yup"

" Love is such a great feeling right? Love is divine" She was looking at the moon when she was saying all this.

"Yup"

"Love is all of them- Khushi-Keshav, Raj-Simran, Rahul-Anjali, Nandini-Vanraj and Nisha-Prem"

"So many of your friends are committed? Aryan looked rather shocked.

"Seriously Aryan, you gotta be kidding...never watched bollywood movies?"

"Never" Aryan never had time for entertainment. He had to take up the work of Rathore group from a very young age. He had a good taste in songs but all English singers.

"What kind of person in the world has never watched Bollywood movies - The very very iconic Yash Raj movies? No? " Imlie was surprised now.

"Oh Aryan you are so weird. I am sorry but you know nothing about iconic love.You have no knowledge at all"

" Well, I don't believe in love"

" Ahh here we are - WORKAHOLIC SINGH RATHORE" who doesn't believe in love. No wonder you had to squeeze time to be at a friend's wedding"

" I was genuinely busy that day"

"Ok, just to help you as you have helped me a lot, I will send you a list of bollywood movies to watch. Gain some knowledge nahi toh koi ladki nahi patne wali tumse,akele hi reh jaoge"

"I don't want to get into any commitments anyways at least not now at this phase of my life"

" Wow. We are so alike in this then. Even I don't want any stress in life of this sort, I just want to start my internship soon and save some money to buy a decent place to live. I can't wait to call my parents here and live with them"

" BUT BUT BUT I am very knowledgeable and do believe in love. That love at first sight thing- that one. I will fall in love with my prince charming at the very first sight. I don't think I will have any difficulty identifying him - full of knowledge about all bollywood movies -full on romantic , who is emotional and cries in sad movie scenes just like me, who loves to talk like me and has a great sense of humor like me” I am sure rest we will be able to work out together.

Aryan was amazed to listen to her priority list for a partner. He thought most girls always wanted a tall, handsome and settled guy. This girl is so different.

Imlie spoke non-stop about how she loves her studies and journalism and how father is her inspiration. Aryan just spoke his typical one words probably 20 of them compared to Imlie's 10000"

He dropped her and reached home. His mind was still stuck on the thought of how knowledge of Bollywood movies can be a criteria for selecting a partner. He couldn't digest it but had a confirmed feeling in his mind that Imlie was a very bright, beautiful, confident and innocent girl.

Next day at college Imlie met Arya and checked about the seminar of yesterday.

" Kaisa tha?"

" Hot, Hotter, Hottest" Arya said

" Whaaattt, snacks nahi puch rahi, how was the seminar? How were the speakers?"

" That's what I am saying- The speaker was as hot as anyone can be"

"He had any good ideas and suggestions for students like us? Imlie was losing patience now.

" I didn't hear a word he said, I was all lost in his muscular body, the eyes, the personality, the lipppps"

" Shut up, will you? You were noticing the guest speaker's lips and not what he said. You were never like this Arya"

" You see him once and I am sure you won't only look at his lips but will want to do so many things with those lips Imlie”

" Useless you are Arya, let's go check the name of the organization we will get to do our internship at. Seema said the list will be up at 11 and it's 10:50 already"

Imlie, Arya, Sameer and Raj were all scheduled to start their internship at Bhaskar times from Monday, two days from today.

" Wow, I have heard all good things about Bhaskar times, they are transforming journalism " Imlie said excitedly

"I can't believe it, wishes do come true. I can't be happier" Arya was so happy

"What happened to her now, probably she is also happy to get an internship at the reputed Bhaskar times. At Least she stopped her lusty talks about the seminar speaker" She smiled looking at Arya.

Absolutely, they both have their own notions about love and won’t realize it for sometime that they have indeed fallen for each other 😀

The story is amazing of how two people can click with just one meeting, also common friends is a big help. The story is flowing in the right direction and interesting not to stop reading because it is good.

It is amazing how parents react the same way and brothers. If the brothers had come across Khushi and Keshav before then you don’t know what would have happened.

Both are safe and together after everything that happened in just days after the marriage.

Imlie is a person that either you like her or not but she surely grows on you with her innocence and happy nature plus the way she is so caring to the people who matter to her the most family. Her knowledge of subjects is mind blowing especially at the present subject that she is studying and wishing to make her living and become a good writer.
