Padmavati is 2017's most awaited film not only for it's large-scale production, a cast that consists of Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor, it's association with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but also it's historically impressive story. I have high hopes for this film after all of the disappointments Bollywood's faced this year. 😊 This is a portrait of the Rajput queen, Rani Padmavati. I know Deepika has been cast in her place for her acting chops and grace, but I don't see Deepika in this image. Who according to you imbibes the physical personification of Rani Padmavati in Bollywood?

Honestly i don't like twisting history and making all of them a love story sorta
But coming to Rani Padmavati i think southern actress Anushka shetty would be the one for me
In Bahubali i like the way she carried herself aa a queen(i have not seen whole movie though )

Nice post, DAZZ!

Hmm, from the current young lot in hindi film industry, I feel Deepika fits the role perfectly.

Current lot for me is

Bhoomi ( I love her acting...)

Who else who else... can't think of anyone else... (I am sure you are going to come up with the real good one here😃)

I think, the role is not only about the looks, but then the depth as well, otherwise Sanjay bhansali would not go for her. The first poster is royal. Did you see the first poster????

I haven't seen Bahubali either. 😳 Anushka Shetty does resemble the portrait. I hadn't thought of her as an option, Avani. I'm sure Anushka's an incredible actress as well seeing the success of Bahubali 1 and 2. 😊

I have seen the poster and it seems very authentic to that time and culture. I know many were praising Sanjay Leela Bhansali on his research for the film. 👍🏼 I actually see Yami Gautam in this picture more than anyone else. I think she physically suits the character the most and is a credible actress as well. Obviously, no other actress today is as successful as Deepika. She's possibly the only superstar in the younger lot of actors and actresses in India today. 😳 Kareena and Priyanka are both very talented as well. I think films like Omkara, Chandni Bar, Heroine, Barfi, Fashion, and Mary Kom speak for themselves when it comes to these two women and their panache as actresses. 😃

Honestly Dazz, I am not too excited for this, since SLB is not a good story teller.

This I can say confidently because of his previous 2 movies, Ram Leela & Bajirao Mastani

which I was totally disappointed with.

He is very creative artistically... great costumes, elaborate set designs, melodious music & all

but lacks in story telling, & its always a hit or a miss especially with historical stories in general.

And I just dont like Ranveer Singh at all.

I am only curious to see this new pairing of Deepika - Shahid ( I think it's their first)

If I have to pick an actress for this role, it would be none from the present Bollywood

crowd, but an actress from the 80s...Jayapradha...a very beautiful talented actress

originally from the South, but acted in quite a few Hindi movies much later

I think she would fit this role perfectly.

I also liked Avani's choice.

I take it you're not a fan of SLB's? I've loved Hum Dil Deh Chuke Sanam and Khamoshi the most out of his filmography. I walked out of the theatre after the first half of Devdas. It wasn't that the story wasn't interesting or that the performances weren't up to par, I just couldn't stand to watch my love SRK drinking himself to death. When I was younger, I refused to watch any movie in which SRK's characters died at the end. 😆 I'm not a fan of Ranveer's either or Deepika's for that matter. I know she's very talented, but I somehow haven't struck a chord with her. 😳 I haven't watched Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani for that very reason. I keep mentioning credible names in Bollywood, but I always forget Shahid in that count. I think Shahid is what Ranbir couldn't been had he chosen the right scripts. Jaya Pradha was a beauty, Mish! 👍🏼 I remember her being paired with Jeetendra quite a bit as a child in Hindi films.

Bingo Mish. I feel the same about SLB. Hum dil de was the one i found OK of his movies.I feel he always messes up the story 😕

Hai friends..good discussion going on...Beautiful post DAZZ...hum dil de chuke's original story is a Tamil movie by bhagya raj...SLB made certain modifications to it...I too go for anushka shetty...She is brilliant in all historical movies...
