The day of the event finally arrived. Everything went smoothly except for few mishaps. Aashima's team handling the security made a major goof up with the VIP passes. Few journos were miffed as they weren't allowed to enter the hotel premises in spite of having the valid permission. Luckily, Rajeev came to know about the commotion and settled the argument between the journos and the security team. Shaurya was clearly disappointed with how the things had started and he reprimanded Aashima and her team for it.
A press conference was later organized where Shaurya and Rajeev handled the questions with confidence and poise. As for Aashima, she kept on staring at Shaurya admiring his confidence and the way he answered the journalists.
When one of the journalists asked Shaurya if he was planning to do business with Aashima's company in future, he answered: We haven't thought about that yet. Also, it is too early to think about partnership. Rajeev and I need to have a talk with our board of directors too. So as of now, it's a NO from us.
Shaurya had made it clear to Aashima few days back that they won't be doing business with her in future. She was disappointed with his answer but she couldn't do much about it. In these two months, she had known that once Shaurya Khanna decides something, no matter what he wouldn't budge from his decision.
Sharma house:
Mehak was sitting in the balcony of her room with Nehal and Sonal. The two were rehearsing their steps for Mehak's sangeet. Kaanta chachi entered her room talking on the phone: Ji ek minute beta..I will give the phone to Mehak.
Chachi handed the phone to Mehak and asked her to talk.
Mehak: Hello?
Ajay excitedly: Hey jaan, how are you? Listen I hope you haven't forgotten about the party tonight I will pick you up at 7.30. Be ready on time!
Mehak: Hi, umm Ajay..I don't want to go. There is a lot of work here. I need to help chachi with the sangeet preparations.
Mehak inwardly prayed to her Maata Rani. Chachi looked at her and gestured her to go for the party. Even Nehal and Sonal joined in and forced her to say yes. With no option left, Mehak finally agreed and said: Ok, I will be ready Ajay. Bye!
Chachi spoke: Beta, why do you not want to go for the party? If you are worried about the preparations here, don't worry. I have your Jeevan chachu and Ravi chachu to help me. Bacche enjoy your life. You are lucky that your husband is so supportive of your work warna kuch ladke toh apni biwiyon ko freedon hi nahi dete.
Mehak sadly smiled looking at her chachi. Her chachi had the wrong impression of her would be son in law.
Ajay and Mehak had left for Shaurya's party in Ajay's car. Mehak was wearing a pastel pink colored suit. Sonal and Nehal disapproved her choice of clothes but she was adamant that she wouldn't wear anything western. Ajay too was irritated with Mehak's choice of dress for the party.
Ajay irritatingly: Yaar Mehak, I don't understand you at all. Last time, after our roka when we went to the pub, you had worn a red salwar suit and today too u are wearing a suit. It's a "party Mehak..Dance hota hai wahan...Look at your sister Nehal..Learn something from her...Its ok this time but I am telling you after marriage, you have to wear what I ask you to...No arguments there! Got it!
Mehak simply nodded and looked out the window.
She didn't wear the suit to piss him off but she wasn't comfortable in western outfits. She had said the same thing to him the last time as well when they had gone to the pub.
Ajay and Mehak finally reached the hotel. Mehak introduced Ajay to all her colleagues. In a bid to impress her friends, Ajay was trying to act cool which irritated Mehak but she kept quiet and chose to ignore. Ajay was doing all the talking while Mehak chose to stand in the background listening to their conversations. She was clearly not interested in what he was saying. She could feel someone staring at her from the corner of her eyes. When she turned to see who it was, she saw Shaurya sitting at the bar counter wearing a black suit with a glass of juice in his hand.
He looked so handsome sitting there that she couldn't tear her eyes off of him. For the past one hour, Shaurya had his eyes at the door waiting for her to come to the party and when she finally arrived, he couldn't believe his eyes. He feared that she might not come owing to the bad history they shared but was genuinely surprised when she came. He saw her entering the venue with Ajay. She was wearing suit.He couldn't stop himself from similing.
Shaurya thought: Typical Mehak Sharma.
His blood boiled seeing Ajay's hand on her waist. He also noticed Mehak's reaction when Ajay kept on pulling her towards him.
Seeing Ajay busy with her friends and Mehak standing alone, Shaurya cautiously approached her: Hello Ms. Sharma.
He was standing so close to her that she could smell his cologne. She couldn't breathe or move her feet. Mehak couldn't deny that he looked breathtakingly handsome. Finding her voice, she said hello to him.
Shaurya chuckled at her reaction.
Shaurya: So how have you been? Your fiance seems to be an entertainer ...Look at how well he has gelled with your friends.
Mehak turned and looked at Ajay. He was surrounded by her female friends and leaning on one of her colleagues. She didn't want to create a scene here. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
She turned around and smiled at Shaurya: Yes, he is..He knows how to make friends, maybe that is why people flock to him all the time. I guess its coz of his charming personality.
Shaurya was irritated with her words. Why couldn't she see that he was acting as a jerk in front of her friends.
Before he could say anything to her, Aashima came from behind and hooked her arm with Shaurya's looking at Mehak: Hey Mehak, how are you? I am glad you decided to come for the party. Happy to see you here!
Mehak looked at their arms. She also saw Shaurya's reaction when Aashima had touched him. He looked angry but chose to keep quiet.
Mehak: Hi Mam, I am fine. How are you?
Aashima leaned on Shaurya and spoke: Oh I m doing good. Is that your fiance? Heard you are getting married next week. Congratulations!
Mehak: Thank you Mam. I will see you later.
Mehak looked at Shaurya and walked towards Ajay.
The moment Mehak left, Shaurya turned and looked at Aashima's arm around his.
He scowled at her defiantly. Aashima sensing Shaurya's reaction pulled her arm and said: Umm..Shaurya I am sorry.
Shaurya angrily: Are you drunk?
Aashima: Ye..yes a little.
Shaurya frustratingly: If you can't hold your alcohol, then why drink it and make a fool of yourself?
Aashima apologetically: I ma sorry Shaurya..Please..Shall I get a drink for you?
Shaurya: You know I don't drink..
Aashima: I meant mocktail..Please its my last day here. Don't know if we will ever meet again. One drink wont do any harm.
Shaurya: Fine.
Shaurya and Aashima made their way towards the bar. Aashima ordered One Blackberry Vanilla Mocktail for Shaurya.
Shaurya had his eyes glued on Mehak. Aashima saw where Shaurya was seeing and said: Isn't this Mehak a little weird?
Shaurya: What!
Aashima: I mean who wears a suit for a party.. She should have followed the dress code and worn a western outfit.
Shaurya defensively: Mehak has her own style and I respect that choice. Besides, she looks beautiful in suits. And there is no written rule anywhere that one should wear a particular style of clothes for a party. So keep ur opinions to yourself!
Aashima didn't miss the change in his tone when he said that Mehak looked beautiful in suits. She had never seen him commenting on anyone's clothes before and here he was defending his ex employee. This didn't go down well with Aashima.
The emcee requested all the guests to come on the dance floor for a dance. Most of them made their way towards the dance floor. Aashima requested Shaurya for a dance who only looked at her with a scowl. That look from him shut her up. It was a known fact at the hotel that Shaurya had no interest in dancing. He sat at the bar counter enjoying his drink. After a while, he saw Ajay leading Mehak for a dance.
It was a slow romantic dance number that the DJ was playing. Ajay had her hand around Mehak's waist with her arms around his neck. Mehak didn't seem comfortable dancing with him. It seemed like she just wanted the dance to get over. He roamed his hands down her back pulling her close to him.
Shaurya fisted his hand on the glass. He had the vodka shots that were kept at the table. Aashima was shocked seeing him taking those shots. He couldn't see them dancing so close to each other. He grabbed Aashima's hand and pulled her to the dance floor. Aashima was taken aback by his sudden reaction. Shaurya pulled Aashima by the waist and started dancing close to Mehak and Ajay.
Mehak and Shaurya were facing each other dancing with their respective partners. Shaurya had his eyes fixed on Mehak not leaving her even for a second. Mehak grew uncomfortable with his stare feeling annoyed with his behavior. All this while Ajay and Aashima were oblivious to the looks exchanged between Mehak and Shaurya. Aashima couldn't believe her luck of being so close to Shaurya. Fearing that this moment would end soon, she laid her head on his chest with her arms around his neck. On the other hand, Ajay had quite a few drinks and was trying to get too close to Mehak. He was leaning towards her to kiss when she pushed him softly and excused herself of being tired.
She went and looked for a seat near the bar counter. She had just closed her eyes when someone spoke: Tired of dancing?
She could recognize that voice anywhere in the world. Without opening her eyes, she replied: Hmm...
