Haiwaan Teaser: Akshay Kumar’s dark avatar, Saif’s blind act make this Priyadarshan’s most intriguing film yet

The wait is finally over. The teaser of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s Haiwaan has arrived, and Priyadarshan appears to be returning with a world that feels far removed from his familiar comic territory. Dark, tense and deliberately mysterious, the teaser gives away very little while still managing to leave behind enough questions to keep audiences guessing. Most importantly, it understands what a teaser is supposed to do: create curiosity without explaining the entire film.

Priyadarshan Returns With A Completely Different World

After spending years being closely associated with comedy and entertainers, Priyadarshan’s move into a psychological action thriller feels like a refreshing change of pace. Haiwaan seems to explore a much darker space, where revenge, violence and survival drive the narrative.

The teaser keeps the setting and larger story under wraps, choosing atmosphere over exposition. There are flashes of danger, intense confrontations and an unsettling sense that both the characters are carrying secrets. It feels like a film that wants the audience to discover its world along with the characters rather than spell everything out from the beginning.

That restraint is perhaps the teaser’s biggest strength. At a time when many previews practically narrate an entire movie, Haiwaan leaves enough unanswered to make viewers want more.

Akshay And Saif Step Into Their Darkest Avatars

The biggest talking point is undoubtedly the contrast between Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. Akshay appears to be embracing a far more sinister side, while Saif brings an unusual physicality to his character.

Saif has previously described his role as an Indian take on a blind samurai. His character may not have sight, but he possesses heightened senses that allow him to fight, react and protect those around him. The teaser hints at the intensity behind this unusual character without explaining his complete journey.

Akshay, meanwhile, appears to be operating from a much more dangerous place. The hero-versus-haiwaan question at the centre of the teaser immediately creates uncertainty about who the audience should trust.
