<Chapter 20>

Gauri was on leave that day. Daadi wasn't feeling well. Anika wasn't well either. Buamaa is still under treatment for heart ailment. Only Jhanvi was present to take care of Daadi, but she had a doctor appointment. Pinky and Shakti had gone out for a important function. Hence Gauri decided to stay at house to take care of Daadi. Gauri was preparing something or other for daadi and was taking care of even small things. Daadi was watching all this with smile

"Gauri.. itni taqleef kyun kar rahi hai.. main teek hoon, idar aa.. bait..

"Daadi aapko kaada chahiye?

"Abhi nahi.. todi der ki baat lekar aao. Idhar bait tumse kuch baat karni hai

"Kya hai daadi.. She was pressing her legs..

"Gauri agar main kuch poochoongi to saaf saaf jawab degi?

Gauri knew it was something to do with Omkaara.

"Tumhaari aur Omkaara ke beech mein sab teek hui?. Jo kuch bhi hai. Bol de.. Meri dil khush karne ke liye kuch mat bolna hai.. teek hai

Gauri heaved a sigh, there s no point glossing up things..

"Wo daadi, hum poore koosish kar rahe hain, iss shaadi ko dobaara mauka dena ke liye. Omkaara ji humhe bahut chahthe hain. Par jo dard maine mehsoos kiya, maine usse poori tarah bhoolkar aage badana chahthi hoon. Par kabhi kabhi nahi kar paathi. Issliye main dheere dheere iss rishthe mein aage bad rahi hoon. Aur Omkaara ji bhi humhe poore madat kar rahe hain, iss mamle mein

"To tumne meri omkaara ko nahi sweekar kiya?

Gauri looked with hesitation. Did she feel bad about it?

"Aisa nahi hai Daadi.. Par dheere dheere kar rahi hoon. Meri izzat ki sawaal thi naa daadi. Issliye mujhe dobara chot ki bahut dar hai daadi. Haan samajthi hoon, ab aisa nahi hoga. Par phir bhi mujhe abhi bhi dar hai, ki agar dobara aisa hogayi main apni aapko sambhal nahi paaongi.. Daadi Gauri was in tears..

"Mujhe naa bahut garv mehsoos hoti hai. Tumhe dekhe.. Ladkiyaan aisa hi hone chahiye. Ladkiyaan ko bhi aatma samman hoti hai aur usse banaye rakhne ke liye humhe jitna bhi kare utna prayaas karna chahiye.. Mujhe pata hai Omkaara ne bahut badi galati ki aur tumhaari self respect ko tez pahunchaya. Aur tumne bahut sahi faisla li.. Mujhe bilkul khushi hai tum humhaari bahu hai..

Gauri was surprised, she didn't expect this elderly women ahead of three generations thinks in such a progressive way which people of present generation failed to do,sometimes.

"Par Gauri, Omkaara hai hi aisi. Usko Jhoot bhilkul nahi bardast hotha. TUmhe to pata hi hoga Tej aur Jhanvi ki problems ki baare mein. Jab Om saath saal ka tha.. Tej aur Jhanvi ke beech ki jhagde shuru hue the. Tej doosre aurat ke saath najayaz rishtha mein tha.. Aur Jhanvi bahut toot chuki thi. Humne bahut koshish ki Tej ko samjhanee ke liye par wo to sunta hi nahi tha. Bechara Om ne apni maa ko sambhalne ki saare bhoj apne kande pe utaye aur tabse uski papa ke saath jagda karta aa raha hai. Omkaara ka dil sone ka hai, Gauri. Pata hai.. teeno bhaiyon mein sabse naram dil uski hai. Par pata nahi kyun uski paas hi saare taqleefein aa jaathi hai. Rudra aur Prinku ko apni maa baap ki jagde se bachane ke liye khud ki khushi gawani padi. Uski umar mein bachein najaane kya kya karte. Omkaara aisa nahi hai Gauri. Ladkiyon ko bahut respect deta hai. Par tumhe kaise na samajhne ki galti ki Omkaara ne Daadi was worried that this mistake should not cost her dear grandson's life. She became emotional

She held Gauri's hands. "Gauri aisa mat socho.. yeh sab kehke tumhe main zabardasti kar rahi hoon.. Par main bas itni bolna chahthi hoon.. jo kuch bhi tumne jhela.. Waise hi Omkaara ne bhi bahut kuch jhela.. Tumse alag hokar wo khush nahi tha.. Pata hai 2 mahine pehle.. main baat kar rahi thi usse ki aise hi poora zindagi kaise bitaoge..? Wo keh raha tha "Aap sab hain na mere liye.. main khush rahoonga daadi.. Aur Gauri ki alava main kisi bhi ladki ke saath nahi rehna chahtha hai daadi. Agar wo mili nayi, main aisa hi reh jaaonga daadi uski yaadon mein.. Main bahut royi uss din ki meri sone jaisa Omkaara ki zindagi mein rab aur kitne dukh denge.. Par nahi.. Rab ko sab pata hai puttar.. Lekar aaye na tumhaari paas? Ab aap dono iss choti umar mein bahut kuch jhel chuke hai.. ab bas khush hone ki mauka hai. Tumhaari bhi aur uska bhi. Main sirf itna hi chahthi hoon.. ki aap log ek doosre ki pyaar ko samjhe.. aur bahut khush rahe. Daadi finished with emotional tears.

Gauri had no one as an elderly person in her family except her mom. But the unusual circumstances that they had to face after her fathers death, her mother's illness was too much to handle for her at the young age. Life didn't give her opportunity to pour out her heart to any elder member and find solace in their advice. She always missed the lack of big parivaar. It was not her fate. The conversation with Daadi calmed her mind and made her feel at home. Someone understands her plight too and wants her happiness also.

Her mind was at peace and first time, this felt like a home for her after so many days. She was roaming around with a plastered smile in her face. Even in her room also, she was arranging things in her closet by humming some favourite song of hers after a very long time. She had forgotten long back that she can sing and enjoy life back as she used to. This is the wonder that family can only create. It can make a person feel secure and loved. When she was arranging her dresses, the photo of hers with Omkaara taken by buamaa was present behind his suits. She took it in his hands. His face was having a sadu expression whereas she was fullon smiling.

"Shakkal to dekho jaise adarak khaye ho She smiled to herself.

"Har baar kehthe rehthe hain.. main tumhaari shakkal nahi dekhna chahtha hoon, chali jao.. par jab bhi jaane ki koshish karte hai, kuch na kuch bahana doondke mujhe wapas lane hi pehla kaam hoga inki. Chupa rustom kahin kaa.. She scolded her jatadhaari pati.

"Har waqt mujhe ghoorne ki alava koi kaam hi nahi tha.. tab bhi aur ab bhi.. Nafrat ya pyaar.. mujhe ghoorna to zaroori hai inki She was talking as if he is standing before her. She kept the picture aside and tried to keep something in the top rack. She wasn't able to reach. She stretched her hands so much that her sleeve broke. It was one of her favourite kurta so she had been wearing it a lot. May be it had become old. She pulled out one of the kurti's she just stacked, for changing. The room was locked (not with the knob) and it was just evening. No one would enter anyway without knocking and Omkaara would return only in the evening. She went before the mirror and pulled off her kurti. She noticed a red blister in her waist and was checking the mirror what it was, without putting on the new kurti. She just realized in the morning when she was preparing something, hot oil splattered on her waist and probably that had caused it. She was searching for the ointment and found 2 3. She was checking out which one would be the best one for this kind of blister. She was reading the ointment instructions while the door flung open. Gauri was stunned and held her kurta in a desperate attempt to cover her front. She just turned back to notice her Jatadhaari pati was standing in a shocked state. He certainly didn't expect this ravishing surprise. Gauri was standing totally blank while he came to senses.

"Gauri.. ye kya kar rahi ho? His eyes were wandering along her.

"Nahi woh.. mein kapde badal rahi thi.. akeli thi naa isliye aise hi badal rahi thi. Wo mujhe pata nahi aap iss waqt aayenge.. Ek minute main aati hoon She ran into the washroom.

Her heartbeats were racing against her breath. She closed her eyes. Images of his wandering eyes came in her mind and she turned pink with embarrassment. "Koi mauka nahi chodthe yeh She was scolding him for her mistake. While she was feeling embarrassed, Omkaara was feeling the heat. His life has been hot and cold ever since she entered back. When he gave allt he fabulous promises, it never seemed this tougher on him. But when practically he had to experience it, he went nuts. She doesn't leave a chance to make him high and push him low. He sighed. He has no other way other than to burn inside. He can't even tell her what he felt. That would make her feel that he is desperate and is only physically attracted to her. He can't risk his intentions being misunderstood, not when he is trying to win her back. But seeing people around him, his brothers with their wives, he wanted to live a life like that too. A life filled by love. A life filled with satisfaction not this incomplete, ever conscious life. It's not that she wasn't interested in him at all, she herself admitted that she was madly in love with him once. But he lost it all due to his foolishness. How I wish atleast some part of it is still intact?, Omkaara thought. May be it is, seein the way she reacted with possessiveness yesterday but that could stem from insecurity about her life as well. Omkaara was going crazy. He closed his eyes. But alas, he only could remember the luscious sight, he saw moments before. Her covering up herself in a panic mode as if some stranger has entered, made him feel all the more frustrated. He is her husband afterall. She clearly doesn't feel it. He needs to get out of here, immediately. He was not sure about his control, when he sees her back. For the good of their relationship, he needs to get out, ASAP.

Really liked the sort of assurance that Dadi gave Gauri and yet, explained to the young one just what her grandson had been through too. She's #TeamOmkara but being quite subtle about it because Gauri should be #TeamOmkara too...

And poor petite Gauri... Omkara should really get her one of those IKEA stool thingys as a gift... or go classier and get that pouffy footstool that Jaya Bacchan uses in K3G to fix her hubby's tie. Immediate feelings of uncontrollable love guaranteed... 😆

Waise Omki is really using his brain at the exact wrong moment here. Waapis aa jao my poor misguided baby... abhi teri biwi ko patane ka time hai not the time to be all Sadhukara and give her space.
