JNDSD~ 27th January, 2017 Bring back the old smiles.
Humans are amazing beings as they carry within themselves strategies which allow them to touch the heavens by disseminating good cheer to lift spirits of down and under loved ones. Humor and comedy are much loved mediums to relieve stress for human beings. The episode is a mixed bag of comic tinges ,yet under pinned with an unspoken sadness both for the comedian and the audience he seeks to amuse. Atharva. is on a mission to make Vividha smile.. a teeny bit.
However a grim Atharva comes down the stairs, so to speak sliding down a notch, grounded yet preoccupied, cutting corners of the banister. Dadi with her flirty passes hopes to snap him out of his pensive disposition , but he's not in the mood. Funny but his manner says it all, and all present are on red alert is he alright? whose to say? But Uma suspects he may have overhead something? I wonder if this was slightly engineered by Uma? meant to unhinge Atharva? What's more Vividha is not aware he came to meet her?
Vividha , still perhaps carries her baggage of atonement when she attempts to tell Suman she regrets falling short of being the proverbial DIL.. by saying she wishes to share the daughter mother relationship with Suman ,if she may.. goes to shows the extent of emotional weariness she passes through. Vividha is ,and seeks some kind of understanding and forgiveness from the matriarchal figure of the Vashist household. For me she applies her knowledge and understanding of the scriptures she follows. Seek forgiveness from the one you have aggrieved. Question is how will she find out , when her atonement is complete? when peace descends upon her? I say only time will tell.
Atharva, needs calming too, a digression. Where better than the place which means haven to him, his hands on work place. The CV's aptly use the fodder cutting machine. The mechanics of the wheel ,symbolize life it- self , which swiftly still revolves around him, he grabs the handle to take control of his life..just like he controls the spinning of the chaff cutter machine! Atharva tries to make sense of how to cut small pieces of reservations, misgivings of his and Vividha's life, so both him can digest what transitions come their way . Lumpy fodder, doubts held in their persons is making them both puke!
On familiar ground both exchange thoughts.. his activity from preparing fodder, to feeding his cows speak loud and clear to Vividha that he too is hungry for her attention. She knows him well and wants to know why he came to her room ? and left without speaking to her? He too doesn't beat around the bush and tells hers she was busy on the phone talking to Ravish ,hence he didn't want to interrupt! Vividha takes him out of his misery by clarifying his assumption.. also informing him his brother was at the border! Some stress leaves him, and he changes his tactics to still appear a bit sore. He knows she would want to know why? Its then he will attempt to humor her plus broach the subject of marriage! He teases her ,his mother wanted to know about her size for garments.. he throws in a standard old joke between them when he remarked about her putting on weight! A comment all weight conscious girls loathe hearing! The idea is to bring back the memory of how things were between them .. anything to make his Vividha laugh , he acts the comedian , that she needs suitable clothing that will allow her to undertaken all the tasks in the cowyard! Teases her further and hopes , that after marriage she'll muck in with him at all his tasks! For me ,wrapped up in comedy he also draws a comparison before her , between the good life she left in Delhi and all that awaits her here in Ajmer... mind you she goes off in a huff unamused.. but for him ..it was a step of reminding her of some such anecdotes.. but he still tries to figure out the then and now Vividha.. round and round goes the chaff cutter.. bit by bit take life in small steps, check your stride Atharva , till Vividha is ready to walk the pace with you ,side by side..
The unwelcome prowler creeps into their lives again. His mysterious presence is there to make the viewers aware that in the still of night danger lurks in the lives of Atharva and Vividha , this is apart from their personalized emotional burden of striving to be together again like before, when Vividha smiled and Atharva loved her as none other in this whole wide world. But for now Vividha screams ! someone she senses..a man in the dark .. concealed. one who keeps all in the dark playing mind games.. is this being targeting Vividha's emotional vulnerability. Well her state of mind is questioned . even Atharva calms her down , boils it down to her recent lack of sleep and suggests it may be a nightmare. But his gentle goading leads her to open up and she reveals ,the man felt known to her.. great camera shot that catches the figure's reflection in Atharva s bike s wing mirror , between Atharva and Vividha .. dividing them still on the cards for him.. but Atharva the protector steps in and sends the panic stricken ladies to bed.. he will be on the look out for predator.
Tomorrow is another day, Atharva ensures normalcy prevails in the household with his usual flirty verbal exchanges with dadi . He takes it upon himself to keep the atmosphere light and the dark, night before episode as best forgotten. Then comes the girl of his dreams gliding down the stairs.. and he once again teases her about her well into her mid morning waking up habits.. which may be subject to change ! just another fond reminder, to spell out how well he knows her.. he wants to keep it light.. right time for popping the question! and .. with hilarity for all present, he pops the question .. spinning and revolving it around the chaff cutter!! He wants to handle the situation, gently , laced with humor so his beloved can perhaps spot the surprise element?? or to spare her grief? Well Vividha is far from seeing the humor in his jokes.. she is left speechless.. will this be seen as girls turn bashful at the subject of marriage scene?? One thing is for sure for Athrava there's more to her than meets his eye. He will have to glean more...
Swirling the chunni over her head is his way of offering his mantle of protection, faithfulness and love to her for all enternity .. terminology and actions related to nuptials are once again waved before Vividha. Such irony. References to a pre marriage event and a termination of marriage document are spoken in the same sentence. Seem so incongruous, to Vividha , she smarts silently. Suman by mentioning divorce papers from Ravish meant , that Vividha's marriage to Atharva will not be rushed.. so she can relax. but Vividha pulling off the mantle and doing a runner shows its more than she can handle!
Its her lord Shiva she runs too.. seems humans fail to fathom her smarting. Bar one person.. Atharva . Before her lord she lays bare all that she went through.. the mind rewinds the horror in sequential form. Her lord never fails her , he is merciful to her... and thus sends the one person he has willed for Vividha.. Atharva!
We need to talk! At the same place where in agreement we made our vows.. he had said, love will bind us, not compulsion or force.. equal we stand.. walk side by side as much life permits us to,till eternity .. and Vividha had echoed till eternity! That was then.. he visually goes down on his knees and talks up at her.. he understands much has happened since then but he remains the same unchanged in love with her from the inner recesses of his heart to the depths of his very soul. Her image dwelt in him then and he remains devoted to even her now. The past three months bashed ,broke and bruised him in every possible way. Yet his heart remains in tact with her! Depart not from my life.. an answer he seeks from her .. does she still love him? It's as simple as that... he questions her if she waited for him .. then why does still think about her previous marriage? senses the loss of the sacred thread the Mangalsutra.? Her sadness at hearing of their marriage contradicts her. Vividha reltaliates , does he doubt her love? He replies alleviate his fears that she appears changed . she admits before him she has changed. Yesterday his mother spoke about Vividha has been through a lot.. today he some how , is cured as he hears it in all honesty from his beloved's mouth. This is their bond , talking things out , confessing ,informing each other and thus reaching out for each other s support, especially in dire straits . For if things are hidden, left unsaid, they fester and create distances between two souls who are meant to be together eternally.. the scene is the highlight of the episode .. Atharva wants to know the truth . yet he gives Vividha the platform to fight her case, tell her side of the story and she does so with great panache when she spells out the difference between his three days of injury .. to her what seemed three years of a never ending ordeal..Talking has ironed out issues for Atharva ,yes she loves him , but wants space for herself. Time when she can be healed .. for he is her physician the one her lord has put on earth for her..
An expected episode , Vividha had to clarify matters , speak for her self . she sure did but they needed to have a one to one conversation. Although wondering how much time Vividha wants from Atharva .. she is giving him quite a challenge. Something tells me too, he is likely to stand by and persevere ,which she knows he will.. such is their bond. Hamlet53.. 28.1.17
