So I was just engrossed in reading some shots and FFs on the evergreen ArShi and suddenly the urge to pen down something on them once again popped up in my mind.😆
I hope you enjoy reading this OS, the thought, idea and urge behind which have been pretty random. Trust me, at 3.10 am, oddities and urges are random. 😛

Happy reading!

A big fat day full of being upset, angry, and also flaunting a bit of charade of having gone somewhere far to make her forgetful husband remember that it was their third wedding anniversary. Well, who said life was ever going to be simple for Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada, when she signed up for a marital life with the Arnav Singh Raizada?

Not that life was ever easy for her, from childhood till now, where she did have to work for every bit of happiness that existed today in her life, deal with the shortcomings that life had put through, and also face the wrath of a once upon a time monster who she proudly and happily called her husband as on today.

Yes, the monstrous side had taken a backseat in ASR's life, but that didn't mean it was fully dormant.

He would still have his temper on his sleeves when he didn't have his way and shout at poor victims like the OP brothers or his ever so loyal manager Aman Mathur. But by and large, his rationale had definitely gotten a boost post his proper and official marriage with his crazy wife, and even if his short temper didn't completely take a backseat, his manhandling and blatant scolds on Khushi without thinking definitely did.

It was one of a kind act that KKGSR had to put throughout the whole day to pretend like she was gone so that at least for once her all time busy husband could be a tad bit guilty about forgetting their marriage anniversary three times in a row ever since they got betrothed. Although she was cent percent angry at him for all the right reasons of forgetting the most important day in their lives, she also felt fluttered when she witnessed how he went beyond perimeters in making things right, be it when he got endless gifts for her or made thandai for her with HP since she didn't take alcohol. And who could forget, how he confessed about each and every single moment where she had affected him in the past making him eventually fall for her.

She recalled how Arnav had capitulated completely, apologizing time and again thinking she might actually depart for Lucknow and stay angry with him for god knows how long.

A faint smile took over her face as she recalled every event that followed soon after, him running to her, taking her into a hug when she finally made him answer two of the riddles she asked from their past together, about the firefly and that beautiful night when he had confessed his love for her for the very first time in their terrace.

Her mind quickly jumped to the later events as she traced the exquisite necklace sitting on her neck that her husband had merrily wrapped on her after they shared that intimate dance sometime back.

But Khushi being Khushi instantly pouted, a bit irked going back through another set of events from the day, when Akash had come to visit Arnav to wish him on the anniversary.

While she had a fun time spying on her flawless husband, keeping note of every ounce of appreciation and criticism that he made on her, two from the lot really made her flare her nose in annoyance.
First, when he said how can someone in their right mind not know if their face is clad withbesan all over, and second, when he almost had his eyeballs pop out of their sockets when he enunciated that how could Khushi want to talk about kids when she was herself a kid, right after Akash had intimated him on the topic.

"That Laad Governor!"

Khushi muttered under her breath as she sat in the hall, still waiting for her husband who had asked her to be patient for a while as she was in for another surprise for their anniversary dinner right after they had their dance together.

She fidgeted with the pallu of her saree and started browsing through Facebook once again. Who would have thought one day Khushi Kumari Gupta out of everyone would be all tech savvy, and more so, a social media addict? But well, changes are inevitable, and when you are Khushi Arnav Singh Raizada, then some influences are bound to get etched on you.

But it wasn't her husband's influence alone that led to the changes in her. After winning the Mrs. India title, life was all the more kind to her. Not that she needed anything else in surplus, given satiety was always engulfing her in the form of the most beautiful family, but career wise too, she became more independent, as she endorsed some niche brands and also became the face of many events, where she would be graced as the guest of honor. She enjoyed giving motivational speeches at events, especially when those were women centric. She loved encouraging aspiring women to be fearless and go forth to achieve what they wished for, bringing her own example into light.

Her family had been way too proud with her, and her husband, well, his happiness too knew no bounds seeing his wife be an epitome of positivity for many out there. The only times it irked him though were when Khushi got too much of male attention from such events, and during those instances, he made it a point to accompany her and also be seated beside her before and after her speeches.

With time maybe Arnav's temper too could fade away, but if one thing was to remain as constant as the northern star, it had to be his possessiveness for his wife.

Khushi smiled as she recollected the essence of last three years of their lives together; browsing through some of the pictures she had uploaded on her Facebook.

She was about to get on the periphery of sentimental and nostalgic line, when she felt a tap on her shoulder and turned to see her husband standing with a small smile etched on his face.

"Come, let's go,"
He softly whispered against her as he took her hand in his and led her to the grand staircase of Shantivan, towards their room upstairs.

They finally entered the room together and the pitch dark ambiance greeted her.

"Aapne batti kyun bujha rakhi hai?"
(Why have you turned off all the lights?)

She asked him, agitated, while her mind quickly bounced back to a similar situation three years back, when on the day of Rakshabandhan too, she had witnessed a similar instance.

Before she could quiz him anymore about it, she felt his index finger on her lips, shushing her, as he ushered her towards the poolside from the room, and her lips curved into a happy smile on their own accord.

Her heart fluttered with joy as she witnessed the fairy lights all around, reminding her of a gazillion memories that they had made together in this very same place. Her sight soon settled on the small table adorned with candle light, decked with a variety of dishes, surrounded by two chairs.

"Shall we?"

He asked as he gave her hand a slight squeeze, his face displaying that very famous signature smirk.
She nodded happily as he walked her to the table, and made her sit on the chair, finally settling himself as well, opposite her.

It was a hunky dory moment for Khushi as she witnessed her favorite dishes spread across the table, eagerly waiting to be devoured by her and Arnav couldn't help the satisfactory smile on his face seeing the congeniality they were enveloped in at this stage of life.

Stuffing her mouth with spoons of biriyani, Khushi talked about random things, pretty much like she always would, while Arnav kept staring at her lovingly, having bites from his own plate at intervals.

Agreed, it was easy for Arnav to talk to Khushi when she was asleep like he had admitted to himself as well as a sleeping Khushi endless times, but it was super easy and a more amazing feeling for Arnav to admire Khushi when she was busy talking non-stop, as that would give her business tycoon husband to gaze at her expressions, her eyes, her smile, as she animatedly spoke about sporadic things under the big wide horizon.

His personal session of admiration for his wife came to a sudden halt when he felt Khushi snapping her finger in front of him, immediately bringing him back from his fantasy world.

"Kahan kho gaye? Dijiye na!"
(Where are you lost? Give it to me!"

She pleaded like a five year old while Arnav stared at her, perplexed.

"Offo! Aap humari baat sun bhi rahe hai ya nahi?"
(Oh god! Are you evening listening to what I'm saying?"

She asked, agitated with his confused expression.

For a fraction of second Arnav felt a puny bit of guilt take over for not being attentive, but he soon brushed it off because his wife had all his attention anyway in a different way.

"Umm, wo-"
He was cut short even before he could draft his excuse as he heard Khushi say,

"Jiji and Jijaji ne jo gift diya, hume saath me kholna hai na? Toh dijiye!"
(The gift that Akash and Payal gave that we had to open together, give that please!"

Arnav was taken aback for a moment. Not because she asked for Akash and Payal's gift for their anniversary but the subject instantly took him back to the little rendezvous he had with his brother this morning that involved the words, "Khushi ji ko aapse kuch baat karni hai, bachcho ke bare mein." (Khushi Ji wants to talk to you about something.. about kids."

Arnav's throat felt dry for a moment and then he slowly nodded in affirmative as he got up from the chair, striding towards their room and came back in less than 10 seconds, carrying the wrapped package that Akash had gifted him this morning.

He extended the package to Khushi who instantly took it from him, with a wide grin on her face as she jumped like a kid all excited to open the gift.

"Pagal"

Arnav couldn't help whisper that out of levity, after all Khushi's childlike antics were her fundamental identifier.

As she opened the ribbon on the package quickly and began removing the wrapping paper, Arnav too waited in queue to see the gift sitting on the opposite chair. Although such things really didn't grab his interest and were always trivial, looking at Khushi all fluttering with joy, anybody could be a willing participant in the activity and he was no different.

She happily undid the wrapping and smiled expectantly to look at the gift when in a wink of a moment, her smile faltered and her lips pouted.

Arnav looked at her confused, while he tried to assimilate the meaning of her reaction. Without devoting another second he looked at what she was holding when his own mouth flung open.

"101 parenting tips for new parents"

He enunciated as he read the title on the book, the next chain of words immediately flowing from his mouth,
"What the?!"

Khushi too sighed and keeping the book aside, got back to eating again, paying no heed to the insipid fruit of her excited gift opening session.

If Arnav was surprised with his brother and sister in law's gift, his surprise increased tenfold seeing Khushi's reaction to it.

Agreed, he wasn't expecting something out of the box as a reaction, but this is Khushi we are talking about, at least a little bit of theatrical element was expected.

Darting his eyes towards her now indifferent face that was all busy stuffing jalebis, he cleared his throat as he mustered the strength to draft his words.

"Umm.. Khushi"
He struggled a bit while Khushi looked him in the eyes, waiting for his next words.

"..Umm, I heard you wanted to talk, umm.. about kids?"

He finally managed to speak and thankfully for him, his question finally got some reaction from his unpredictable wife as she rolled her eyes, placing the jalebi from her hand on the plate and ultimately looked at him.

"Wahi toh" "(That's what!)"
She began as she pulled the chair a little closer to the table to have a better eye contact with him.

"I wanted to talk to you about it since the morning itself."

Arnav prepared himself for something he thought he wasn't prepared for as he waited for her to continue.

"Arnavji.. I think"

She hesitated as he felt she was trying too, to muster up the courage to bring forth her words, her wish. He waited patiently when her next words shocked him.

"Arnavji I think we should not have kids of our own."

Whoa!

That was unexpected.

The words rang at the back of his mind as he tried to process what Khushi was saying. He expected her to say something totally different, and here she was, doing the exact opposite. He kept looking at her, signaling her to continue, and so she did,

"I mean, I really don't think I'm ready to have another kid you know. With Aarav in our little world, I already feel we are a complete family, and now that Jiji and Jijaji too are having a baby of their own, I feel our home will just be perfect."

The mighty ASR had seen the best and worst of life at a very young age and there were hardly any things that could manage to surprise him or ensnare him in hazy arenas, but the only exception was Khushi, who effortlessly managed to do so every single time.

"Mujhe aapse yahi kehna tha, bachcho ke bare mein, and waise bhi, main toh khud hi bachchi hu, isliye ek bacha, Aarav hi kafi hai mere sambhalne ke liye" (I wanted to talk to you about this only you know, about the whole kids subject. And in any case, I myself am a kid and I guess Aarav is more than enough to look after.) She said without a pause as she finally took the half eaten jalebi in her hand, munching it with a content smile as she spoke her mind, while Arnav still gave no response, indefinably taken aback by his wife's honest confession.

He tried resuming eating from his plate when again Khushi's voice made him halt midway,
"Par ab iss kitaab ka hum kya kare (But what to do with this book now?)" She pursed her lips as she held the book in her left hand and made a sad face.

Arnav didn't know why but the whole conversation hadn't quite clicked well with him.
No, he wasn't expecting their own baby Raizada out of the blue, nor was he expecting to get into all talks about family planning with his wife, but what he did expect was that when Khushi wanted to talk about kids she would place a wish of having one, which he would have agreed for eventually, but here she was denying the whole concept of it outright on his face that too on their anniversary.

Not feeling for a thing that ain't there is normal. But feeling for a thing that ain't there is so out of character for Arnav Singh Raizada. Did it mean he really did want that thing; a baby, his own kid with Khushi?

Something pricked him on that thought.

While he had been exuberantly excited all day long for making it up to Khushi by giving her a beautiful day on their third anniversary, compensating for all the previous years when he forgot about it, suddenly he felt so crestfallen by the open discussion he had with his wife, which was more of a confession from her end than a wordplay, that he felt like he lost all the appetite to even eat another bite.

Drinking water from the glass he felt the urge to get up when Khushi held his hand, her gaze fixated on him.

"Arnavji?"

She asked, puzzled at his sudden withdrawal, while he nodded slightly saying he would get the ice cream from the refrigerator.

Khushi gave a wide smile in response, as he began walking towards the room when suddenly Khushi's voice stopped him once again in his tracks.

He turned to look at her, as she pouted like a kid, still holding the book and asked him, "Arnavji, aapne bataya nahi iska kya kare? (Arnavji, you didn't say what to do with this?)

A sudden tinge of irritation showed up on his face as he carelessly marched towards the table and caught the book from her hand, thrashing it on the other side of the table with a lot of force.
The sound and impact immediately made Khushi jerk up as she looked at him in shock, not able to figure out the sudden change in the atmosphere.

"Ar-Arnavji, aap-"

She tried to say while Arnav readily ignored her shocked expression and tried regaining his composure before turning back on his path and taking two steps when all of a sudden he heard,

"I was really ready to leave for Lucknow you know."

He stopped as he heard her speak and slowly turned towards her, the previous angered nuances on his expression still not fully gone.

He anticipated her next words as she took a step forward and continued,

"You always forget our anniversary, what to do? This year I just got so angry that I really needed to get far away from you and not come back till I really wished to. Aap har saal humara dil dukhate hai Arnavji, jab bhi aap humari shaadi ki saalgirah bhool jate hai (You break my heart every year Arnavji, whenever you forget our wedding anniversary)" She said at one go, the last line etched with conspicuous disappointment.

Arnav sighed as he looked at her, the traces of the anger now completely gone.
Although he knew that knowingly or unknowingly, Khushi had always been on the receiving end of a lot of his shortcomings and ruthless nature, he also knew that today he had wholeheartedly tried to make up for all of it.

Taking a deep breath he tried to reason with her, but she again didn't let him commence as she spoke,
"So I had told Aman ji to book my train tickets to Lucknow even before you asked him to book two for us. I had planned to stay there for at least a month before coming back to Delhi."

"And then of course, my surprise had melted your heart and you decided to stay back"

Arnav uttered in his mind and was all set to verbally draft it to her, when the ever talkative Khushi Singh Raizada averred,

"But then you know, it is only too risky for a pregnant lady to travel all alone to another place, that too via train!"
.

.

Human body had five sense organs, we all studied that in primary school. And out of those five sense organs, it seemed the hearing sense organ was being slightly dysfunctional with the mighty Arnav Singh Raizada, as he continued to feel that he didn't hear what his wife told him although his brain and heart told him he heard whatever was being said to him LOUD and CLEAR.

He stood there silent for a good 15 seconds as his mouth flung open in shock and eyes turned as big as saucers. He felt as if he would stand there like that for another moment without a movement, he would practically be deemed to be a wax statue.

Taking a step ahead towards the lady clad in the red designer saree that he had gifted her this evening, his lips slowly began to curve into a lopsided smile, the shock still evident on his face though, as he asked,

"Phir se kaho? (Come again?)"

Her cheeks immediately turned crimson as now Arnav stood only at an arm's distance from her, while she looked down and slowly lifted her gaze to meet his eyes, a fresh smile now adorning her lips.

"A pregnant lady shouldn't travel alone, that too via train, especially in the first trimester."

She blushed as she repeated the line, adding the last bit afresh, while her heart suddenly skipped a beat as even before she could register, she was pulled into a bone crushing hug by her husband.
Khushi smiled as abrupt tears of joy brimmed in her lash lines and Arnav only pulled her closer in his embrace, caressing her back as the indefinable joy engulfed them both.

Staying the same way for about a minute, he finally pulled her from the hug to face him, as the pads of his fingers grazed her cheeks, his own eyes now slightly moist with the unexpected event.

".. Tum theek ho?" (Are you fine?)

His version of "I love you" greeted her ears as he asked her the very question that never bored her till date and she nodded, brushing away the lone happy tear that was tugging on her right cheek.
.

.

"..Aur ye tum mujhe ab bata rahi ho?" (And you are breaking this news to me now?) Arnav asked, trying to feign a tad bit of annoyance while she only smiled seeing his mock anger as she gave his hand a slight squeeze and said,

"Aapko yakeen jo dilana tha, ki main bachchi nahi hu, and you wanted this moment as much as I did." (After all I had to make you believe that I'm not a kid anymore and also that you wanted this moment in our life as much as I did.)

Arnav's heart suddenly swelled with joy as the happy realization dawned in him officially that he was going to be a father, and Khushi a mother, and more so, that his Khushi was only playing with words before and she was as elated as he was with this news.

"Reverse psychology, hmm?"

He said in that ever sexy husky voice of his as he brushed her red nose with the tip of his index finger and she giggled like a kid before saying,

"Yeah! I didn't really know if you wanted this for real after your pep talk this morning with yourself when Jijaji told you I wanted to talk about kids." She mocked him as she said the lines while Arnav could only manage to say,

"Thanks."

She raised her eyebrows, asking him the reason for his thank you, when he said without a pause and scooped her in his arms,

"For making me realize that I wanted it. Our baby. You have a stubborn man for a husband Mrs. Arnav Singh Raizada. He always wanted you from the first day he saw you, but it took him a little too long to admit it. Thankfully, for our baby, it only took a brief amount of time, all thanks to you."

He winked as she smiled at his heartfelt confession and they shared an eye lock, the cold winds greeting them and they smiled at each other, before he started walking towards their room, their bed, with his everything, his beloved wife in his arms, having all the reasons in the world to have a jashn in its truest sense.
