Sonu Nigam was a dominated voice of 2000 along with Udit (Udit Narayan stayed till 2004 as major playback voice) ...

Sonu Nigam Replaced Kumar Sanu in 2000 music and became the regular playback voice of Khans and Kumars or Roshans...Major hits with AR REHMAN, Anu Malik , Nikhil-Vinay, Jatin-Lalit, Shankar-Ehsan-Loy, Anand Miland, Adeesh Shrivastav, Rajesh Roshan

Hey Praks... Yup, ditto. I like some songs of Sanu and some songs of Sonu, not a fan of either though.

For the sake of voting, I voted for Sonu.

Kumar Sanu is a nasal singer similar to Atif Aslam. His voice neither have the versatility of Sonu Nigam, nor has the range of Atif Aslam.

(Even Sonu cannot reach the range of Rahat Ali Khan, Shankar Mahadevan, A. R. Rehman and Sukhwinder Singh. But he beats them in his versatility).

One can argue, Kumar Sanu is not a trained singer. But then, even Kishore Kumar is not a trained singer. Still, no one can point faults on Sur in Kishore Kumar's songs. KishoreDa is so gifted. It is so difficult to ignore the glaring faults in Kumar Sanu or Atif Aslam's songs.

Kumar Sanu was lucky. He appeared in the era of melodious songs, where Bollywood was shifting from fighting movies of Amitabh to romantic movies. Music dominated in 90's movies compared to 80's. Male lead singer's space was empty after Kishore Kumar's death. So he became the voice of so many melodious songs. They are surviving because of the good music, despite his bad singing (not because of his singing). Actually Vinod Rathod was a better singer. But he did not get as many opportunities like Kumar Sanu. For me, I liked Kumar Sanu's songs and Vinod Rathod's voice.

Even Udit Narayan is not a great singer. But his voice suited younger faces (not matured). So he sang many songs for Amir Khan who had boyish looks then (Papa Kehtei Hei, Pehla Nasha) and Jugal Hansraj (Ghar se nikalte hi).

But with the rise of younger breeds (Sonu Nigam, Abhijeet, KK), they faded. They were lucky that they lasted that long. Sonu is definitely the most talented in the group.

Kumar Sanu probably gave the MAX number of melodious romantic songs.. Starts right from Aashiqui to 1942 Love Story, DDLJ, Kasoor, Hum Hai Rahi Pyar ke, Pardes and many more..

I pick KS.. But SN is more methodical and trained..

I can't chose. Like both of their songs. But Sonu is a better Singer any day. So voted for him. Though I think no one can match Kumar Sanu in melodies.

Also, Sonu is SO skilled with the keys, sometimes he plays too much with the notes, that is what I feel.. Like in CNWK I remember in one episode he came singing Kal Ho Na Ho title song, I was so excited to hear that from him directly, but he changed its tune and sang in complete different notes which ruined it for me..

Sometimes this tend me to dislike him
