'Listen I have not been father of the century but I have tried to be there for you. Everything I did, everything I have been doing for the last 10 years since you met that woman has been to make sure that you are protected. She came here out of false pretense. Seduced you to fall in love with her...'' Said Mr. Bhalla much to Raman's shock

'Seduced me... Wow...'' Said Raman letting out a soft laugh

'Yes... Seduced you and then turned around and cheated on you and yet still lies about the fact that those children are yours... She has no shame and you do not know what she told me...'' Said Mr. Bhalla

'Those children are mine dad, better start believing that...'' Said Raman

'She is not even here for you. She wants a divorce, she wants revenge, and she wants to take your money. She couldn't come help you when you needed her and we had to make a contract for her to even accept to be in the same room with you. If she couldn't see past all that and come to your aid how could I trust such a woman to take care of you...? She doesn't love you as much as you think she does'' Said Mr. Bhalla

'I mean can you blame her... We have never done right by her... You threw her father on the streets and took everything from him... When her sister came to me for help because she was sick, I sent her away without a second thought... She battled cancer without a penny... Shlok had to steal from his parents because they didn't have money to treat her...'' Said Raman crying

'What do you mean Cancer... I do not know anything about Cancer...'' Said Mr. Bhalla surprised

'She was in the hospital, you met her there...'' Said Raman but Mr. Bhalla interrupted

'No...No... I was told she had a premature birth because of some complication that was it... Nobody told me about any cancer... Did she tell you this...? She is deceiving you, Raman...'' said Mr. Bhalla who refused to believe it because then it meant he had to reassess everything he knew'

'She wasn't dad... I was their... She had Chemotherapy here but it didn't work and they were telling her to get into this trial which was in Chicago. And with the 3.5 Million you paid her they bribed their way into this trial that saved her life...'' Said Mihir

'What... No... No way... She can't... No...'' said Mr. Bhalla looking at Mihir not wanting to believe it

'No... It can't be that... I can't be that cruel... No...'' He said

'It is true... Mihika, Romi and Shlok stayed back and they had to leave a couple of months later because they were tiding up thing with their father's business that they were closing up...'' Said Simmi

Mr. Bhalla slumped back into his seat not sure what to say or even do. There were so many things he had done to that girl that if this story were giving him was the truth; he had been so cruel to her

'I was told she just had premature babies and they went his... They also told me that she was in the hospital treating that man...And the tests... They showed that she in fact had had an affair and that those children weren't yours... They said...I ... They said...'' Said Mr. Bhalla a bit shocked

'Who is they...'' Said Raman

'Shagun... And that doctor... They told me...'' Said Mr. Bhalla as he took his hand putting it on his chest

'Vishu... Are you alright...'' Said Santosh

'She told me... She said... Ishita told me...'' He said as he slumped down his seat

'You know I haven't told anyone else what actually happened... I mean even Raman has never known what actually happened the day you and Shagun succeeded in throwing me out of here. But when the time is right Mr. Bhalla believe me, I will tell him and you will give back everything you owe my father...''

'To see you falling at my feet and begging just like my father did... And I will see to it that you do just that believe me...For every pain he had to endure when you humiliated him and took everything from him, trust me I am an Iyer and we never forget a debt. I will collect'' She said as tears filled her eyes before she walked away

'Mr. Bhalla... I really have no use for you money although I am going to enjoying taking it all back given it was never yours to begin with...''

'You will beg... at my feet I promise you that... For every tear they cried... You will pay, I will make sure you pay...''

'She is... She said it... She thought I knew...I destroyed you all... I destroyed my family... She came back for me... She came back for me... I deserve it...'' Mr. Bhalla cried as he continued holding his chest

Back with Ishita, she had to leave the Bhalla house for two reasons; one is that she couldn't stand to be in the same room with the Bhallas and two she needed to go in for debriefing. They were left with a few weeks and they had not gotten a lot covered in that time. They were no closer to finding what they wanted than they were when they began the whole investigation.

'Sorry... I had a thing...'' Said Ishita as she sat down

'Is the thing sorted now...'' Said Abhishek

There were ready a few people who were waiting for them to give an update of what was supposed to be going on.

'Well we have Parmeet in our custody and he has helped us shut down three more operations that we didn't know about. There has been 30 arrests made in the last 4 months and also we are still running surveillance on Shagun Sharma and Sham Jhakad as well. They are the weakest link because they are green about what is going on. If it is something, we are getting it through them...'' Said Abhishek

'How about Abhya Sharma... Have you found him yet...?'' Asked Commissioner Counter Terrorism Unit

'No... He is still underground but that won't be for long. He has nowhere to go but Delhi given we have not only shut down his source of income but also got rid of the remaining smuggling lines...'' Said Abhimanyu

'But why is that tunnel still active... Isn't it a dangerous president that it is still active? I mean they could still be getting them in...'' Said Commissioner of Police

'Well it is but that is the only active line they have remaining. if they are bringing in any form of guns or person, It is going to be through that tunnel. We just narrowed down the search ground. He is not going to find something new on such short notice. ' Said Bala

'This is taking way too long... I do not like it... What makes you so sure our target is not in the country yet...'' Said Commissioner Counter Terrorism Unit

'Our Intel has always been spot on. He isn't here yet... Although he is going to be in about 3 weeks ...'' Said Ishita

'Listen you have me three years and I have been giving you Intel on people you didn't even know existed. I asked for three years and I have 3 more months to go. I will get you what you want. Besides Raman has no idea what his father was even doing with that tunnel. I doubt he even knew about his father still owning that restaurant. They all think it is Jhakad's...'' Said Ishita

'What...No he is nave... Has absolutely no idea what Shagun uses those tunnels for. As far as he is concerned it is used for his products to evade taxes and export expenses... That is it... They all stood up putting their laptops away as Ishita, Bala, Abhishek and Abhimanyu walked out of that room. Each of them knew exactly what they were supposed to do and Ishita knew she had it cut out for her. It was going to be a very long couple of weeks.

'Ishu... Wait...'' Said Abhimanyu

'I seriously do not want to talk to you...'' Said Ishita

'What happened...'' Said Abhishek

'This genius thought it would be wise to use her children as bait for Mr. Bhalla to get busy while we found out who handled the tunnels...'' Said Bala

'Ohhh... Dude... That was a douche move... You wanted to use her children as bait...'' Said Abhishek

'No I just thought it be a good idea... Besides it wasn't like they were going to a strange place anyway...'' Said Abhimanyu

'Ohhh... I would shut up if I were you...'' Said Bala

'I could slap the stupidity out of you right now... My children are off limits...'' Said Ishita angrily

'Come on Ishu if this was any other op then you wouldn't be even debating this...'' Said Abhimanyu

'But it isn't... This is my family and those are my children... You had no right to make such a call without running it by me...'' Said Ishita

'I know... I am sorry...'' Said Abhimanyu and as Ishita opened her mouth to talk, her phone buzzed causing her to just ignore Abhimanyu

'Hey Mihir...'' Said Ishita

'Ishita... Please... It is dad... He collapsed... We are trying to see if we can get him to the hospital but there is a lot of traffic and we are stuck... Please... do something... Ishu I am begging you...'' Said Mihir panicking

'Calm down... What happened...'' Said Ishita

'He just collapsed... I do not know... Mom was saying he has been taking heart medications I don't know... Ishu please I know you and him are not...'' Said Mihir panicking but Ishita cut him off

'Tell me where you are...'' She said as she placed her bag on the floor and sat down opening up her laptop

'What is it...'' Asked Bala

'Something happened to Mihir's father...'' Said Ishita before she said

'Take a breath and tell me where you are...'' She added saying to Mihir

'Which father...'' Said Abhishek

'Mr. Bhalla of course... ' Said Abhimanyu as he slapped Abhishek on the back of his head for the stupid statement

'Okay... Alright ... You can't get through their... Turn back I am going to tell you how to get out of their... Which hospital are you going to take him...'' Said Ishita as Abhimanyu also sat on the floor opening his laptop

'Delhi Memorial... Mom says his doctor is there...'' Said Mihir

'No... I will direct you where to go... You are going to AR General Hospital... Once you get their ask for a doctor named Dr. Vidya, she is an oncologist but she will be expecting you and she will take care of you...'' Said Ishita as she turned to Abhimanyu

'I am on it...'' Said Abhimanyu as he grabbed his phone and began dialing

'Alright who is driving...'' Asked Ishita

'We are not driving... we are just stuck in traffic... Move...'' Screamed Mihir

'Mihir... Calm down... Tell me who is in the driver's seat...'' Said Ishita who could hear Santosh and Simmi crying and yelling for Mr. Bhalla to wake up

'JB... Raman's driver ...'' Said Mihir

'Okay... Put me on loud speak and hold the phone to JB...'' Said Ishita and Mihir obliged

'Alright JB can you hear me...'' Said Ishita

'Yes Mam...'' Said the driver

'Okay, follow my instructions and I will get you to a hospital in 10 minutes...'' Said Ishita as she typed away on her laptop and Abhishek as well began doing the same

'What are you doing...'' Asked Bala

'Hacking traffic cams...'' Said Abhimanyu as he typed away

Bala and Abhishek had heard a lot about what these two could do once you put a laptop in front of them but had never really had the chance to experience it and this was the first time they had seen it. It was like they spoke the same language but with a laptop and a bunch of code. Ishita and Abhimanyu directed that driver safely and with 3 minutes to spare he was in the underground parking space of AR General Hospital

'Mihir... Are you their... Mihir ...'' Screamed Ishita

'Yeah... We were underground so there was no network... Raman and Mom are with the doctor now... We met doctor Vidya who said she had a cardiologist ready for us... Thank you...'' Said Mihir his voice breaking

'He is not out of it yet... I am not my way...'' Said Ishita as she hung up

'Okay... Now what ...'' Said Bala

'We are going to the hospital...'' Said Ishita as she parked her laptop and began walking out of the building

Abhimanyu grabbed his too and they all walked out making it to the hospital in about 45 minutes given they were a bit away. Anyone who had known their story had to be impressed. I mean Ishita had absolutely no obligation to Bhalla in anyway and yet she went out of her way to make sure her very ungrateful and selfish father in law was well taken care of.

AR General wasn't every one's hospital and one needed to be in the elite to even get treatment their and Mr. Bhalla has slumped down from the elite class for a while. One had to wonder though that if the tables had turned, would he have done the same for her

'Ishita...'' Said Simmi who saw her walking in with Bala, Abhimanyu and Abhishek

'How is he...'' Asked Ishita

'They are carrying out tests, we do not know yet...'' Said Mihir who joined them

'Where is Vidya... Have you talked to her yet...'' Asked Ishita

'She went in their but she said she will be out in a moment...'' Said Simmi

'Alright... I will go check on her...'' Said Ishita as she walked ahead only to turn around and come standing right in front of Raman

'Are you okay...'' She asked concerned

'I don't know...'' Said Raman who was just numb

'He is going to be fine... Trust me...'' Said Ishita reassuringly before she walked to the door with Abhimanyu that clearly had out of bound to non-staff but Abhimanyu showed some sort of ID and they were let through

These children had never really seen their father fall helplessly like that. Mr. Bhalla looked like life was slowly getting away from him and in that moment all the bullshit they were arguing about didn't even matter anymore. His life was hanging in the balance and each and every one of them was thinking he was going to die.

It is funny how sometimes the potential of tragedy can put things into perspective like it was now. Even Mihir who had all this rage and anger in him for his father in that moment couldn't even remember it and all he had was worry.

After about 3 hours of waiting and waiting Ishita finally came out with Abhimanyu and Vidya causing all of them to stand up and go to her worried

'What did they say...'' Asked Santosh

'He is going to be fine... They are still working on him... ' Said Vidya

'What medication did his doctor have him on, can we see that...'' Said Ishita

'I didn't bring it.. But I have a medical form if that will help...'' Said Santosh

'No... We need to see the actual tablets...'' Said Vidya

'Well the doctor is on her way here... You can talk to her...'' Said Raman and unlike his siblings Mihir had a sense that something was off

'Ishita what is going on...'' Said Mihir

'Bala...'' Said Ishita and Bala said

'We got it...'' He said and together with Abhishek they moved out

'Did she say what course of treatment they would take if the medication didn't work...'' Said Vidya

'She said he would need surgery but it was a last resort...'' Said Santosh

'What is the name of the doctor...'' Asked Ishita

'She is the same one who came for your samples while you were pregnant...'' Said Simmi

'Right...'' Said Ishita shaking her head

'I got this... Do not worry... I will tell you what we find out...'' Said Abhimanyu and he also left

'What is going on...'' Said Mihir again

'I have a suspicion but we will all have to wait and see for just a few minutes...'' Said Ishita as she walked to where Raman was seated took his hand in hers but didn't say anything

Santosh looked at her and how Raman held onto her hand almost as if he was finding strength in it. It was strange how she cared so much about Raman and yet how she adamantly insisted on divorcing him didn't depict what she was seeing now. She felt disgusted with herself how even she massively contributed to their lives falling apart. Her son had found the love of his life in the most unconventional and as much as they loved to hate on Ishita and blame her for everything going wrong, she loved their son and always did right by him.

'He is responsive now... You can go in and see him...'' Said Vidya who walked in after a another hour and a half

They all followed her as she led them where their father was and when they saw him, he was hooked up on an IV and looked a little tired but he was awake.

'Hey...'' Said Santosh as she sat by his side while everyone stood at the edges of the bed

'How are you feeling...'' Said Raman

'Like I got run over by a truck...'' Said Mr. Bhalla speaking softly

'At least you are okay...'' Said Raman

'Mr. Bhalla hello, I am Doctor Vidya and this here is my colleague... He is the cardiologist who worked you...'' Said Vidya

'Hello...'' Said Mr. Bhalla

'Okay Sir... In these circumstances we usually call the police but given your daughter in law Ishita is family here we decided to let her handle this and see how you handle it as a family. We shall write this off as an accident. The police will have a few questions but other than that it will be fine. I will keep you here overnight for observation just in case your heart stopped again and see how that goes but chances are high you will be released tomorrow...'' Said the doctor

'Wait... What accident...'' Said Santosh

'Like I said, you said accident, I have to stick to that so do not tell me anything else...'' Said the doctor who checked Mr. Bhalla's IV one more time then he walked out

'What is going on...'' Said Raman

'Ishita is going to explain everything... Ishu... You and I have something to handle... Call me when you get time...'' Said Vidya

'Is it about the round thing with the stone...'' Said Ishita smiling causing Vidya to smile back as she said

Of course he told you...'' Shaking her head

'Take care of yourself Mr. Bhalla...'' She added before she walked out

'What is so funny... What did you do to me...'' Said Mr. Bhalla

'Papa... She is the reason you are alive so please, show some respect...'' Said Simmi much to Mr. Bhalla's shock

'Anyway, your doctor was arrested 20 minutes ago in the parking lot...'' Said Ishita folding her hands across her chest

'What do you mean arrested? Why...'' Said Raman

'Shagun prepares a cup of tea for you every day at 7:00 am... At least that is what I noticed since the last two months...'' Said Ishita

'Well Santosh used to do it but she was worried about Raman after his episodes that Shagun sort of just took over household chores in a way...'' Said Mr. Bhalla

'Okay so I am guessing this is when this heart condition of yours began'' Said Ishita

'Well no it started a month ago, why...'' Said Santosh

'What did the doctor tell you...'' Said Ishita

'Like I said she said we use medication and if it worsened he was supposed to go for surgery. I wanted to tell the kids but he wouldn't let me'' Said Santosh as she held her husband's hand

'Well that doctor was prescribing Aspirin but laced in a drug called Succinylcholine. It is a muscle relaxant that paralyzes the respiratory muscles. It is normally used in a hospital to allow the insertion of a breathing tube into the throat of a patient who is still conscious. In higher doses it can paralyze the entire breathing apparatus, and the victim slowly suffocates to death.'' Said Ishita much to the shock of everyone in the room

'Now at times when used wrongly, it can also cause irregular heart attacks or one's heart to stop'' Said Ishita looking at Raman before she let out the bomb shell

'Hold on... Are you saying she tried to kill me...'' Said a shocked Mr. Bhalla

'Not tried... Has been killing you slowly ...'' Said Ishita looking at him

'Oh My God...'' Said a shattered Simmi as she sat down crying

'Shagun for some reason laced your tea with this drug this morning. I have no idea why because so far her poisoning you in small dosages was working that is why you sometimes seemed tired or had shortness of breath or sometimes felt like you couldn't move...'' Said Ishita

'Oh My God... Yesterday, before the party, I told her that his prescription needed to be refilled, maybe she thought I was talking about the heart medicine...'' Said Santosh

'Wait how is she related to the Aspirin...'' Said Raman

'She and this doctor have had dealings in the past. She has manipulated documents for her before but the doctor if I am to read what Abhimanyu has been texting, this was the first time they went this far. Doctor says Shagun was blackmailing her...'' Said Ishita

'With what...'' Asked Mihir and Ishita looked at Raman then at Mr. Bhalla before she said

'Well she 7 years a go did something that could cause her to lose her license and Shagun has had that hovering over her head the entire time...'' Said Ishita before her phone buzzed

'Excuse me...'' She said before she walked out

'Oh my God...'' Said Simmi shocked

'I think I want to throw up...'' Said Mihir

'How could she do this... I mean I knew she was crazy but this... How could she just... do something like this'' Said Santosh

'No... I do not think she has it in her to do something like this...'' Said Mr. Bhalla

'Can you bet your life on that...'' Said Simmi who was in tears

'So you are still protecting her ... She wants to kill you and you fight for her everyday...'' Said Raman letting out a soft laugh as he added

'Wow... The irony''

Mr. Bhalla just lay there not saying anything embarrassed to his wits because the people who were in that room, the people who were their helping him were the people he should have been depending on the entire time and yet he chose to trust siders who one by one had deserted him and as Ishita was making sure of, he was finding out that they were just using him.

'Actually the funny thing is, Ishita is here helping him stay alive and all he wants to do is insult her. Shagun whom he trusts so match is actually with Abhya, Sharma's son... At least one of them and she is actually married to him... How about that... '' Said Mihir looking at his father

'Shagun is married...'' Said a shocked Santosh

'Yeah... Has been for 8 years...'' Said Mihir

'To who... What kind oF man leave his wife with another man all these years...'' Said Santosh

'Well one who married as a contract and nothing more... So that is why Shagun could never really push her marriage with Raman. One she was married and two she got all the benefits in society that she would have had if she was married to Raman. She had all the privileges that should have been Ishita's...'' Said Mihir turning to his father as he said

'I am going to go outside and tell Ishita to come back in here because you have something to say to her. You are going to apologize to her for this morning and also thank her for saving your ungrateful ass...'' And Mr. Bhalla with no other alternative just accepted

'Ishu...'' Said Mihir as he leaned outside to call Ishita who had just concluded her call

'Yeah... Sorry I know there is this family reunion of the horizon given this little scare but I have to go. My kids need me right now...'' Said Ishita as she walked in

'Dad wanted to say something...'' Said Mihir as he stepped away leaving Ishita in his father's view

'I am...'' Said Mr. Bhalla as he swallowed to clear his dry throat

'I am sorry for this morning and how I behaved... I am also grateful to you for saving my life... Thank you'' He added

Ishita frowned a little almost as if she didn't understand what he was saying and she just kept staring at him. A smile crept on her face as she looked at him causing Mr. Bhalla to relax a bit thinking at least he was past that hurdle but he was wrong

'Mihir... If you need anything else ... Call me... And you do not need to thank me or force your father to do so either... I didn't do this for him...'' Said Ishita

'Ishu...'' Said Mihir but Ishita interrupted

'Oh come on... It is fine... Just take care of this one and his facial injury when you get home...'' Said Ishita pointing at the bruise on Raman's face that everyone had seemed to forget

Mihir turned and looked at Raman remembering he had just taken a punch from his father right before all this happened

'Nope... It is the Bhalla house, nothing surprises me anymore...'' Said Ishita as she stood on her toes and looked at her bruised eye and somewhat swollen nose

'Wow... Whoever this is, they have a mean hook...'' Said Ishita as she touched it

'Tell you what, I will not ask a thing about what happened if you do not ask me any questions about the conversation we had before I stormed out...'' Said Ishita stepping down as she looked at him

'Will I see you later today...'' Asked Raman but Ishita just looked at him and didn't say anything

'Ishu we need to talk you know that...'' Said Raman only for Ishita to look at him critically some more before a smiled crept up on her face as she said

'Welcome back...''

'What...'' Said Raman confused

'Welcome back, you got your memory back, I can sense it... I have been sensing it for a while just not sure why you lied about it...'' Said Ishita and Raman just looked at her not answering

''I know you Ravan... More than you know...'' She added

''Then you now me well enough to know, I am not letting it go and also why I can't tell you why I lied to you...'' Siad Raman

'Fair enough... I lie to you all the time, maybe it is your turn now...'' She said

'It is not that, Ishu come on...'' Said Raman defensively

'I am kidding... Relax... When you want to talk just call me...'' Said Ishita smiling

'I will and when I do call, please receive...'' Said Raman as he smiled back making Ishita understand he had learnt a few things about her

Ishita smiled back at him knowing he was smiling at her but he had pain and worry in his eyes something that she hated to see. She and he had a lot to talk about, a lot that maybe she wasn't even willing to talk about yet and she knew she owed him that much and given she was about to leave anyway, it was the least she could do.

She leaned in standing on her toes without caring that people were watching them and placed a soft kiss on his check before she put her arms around him and whispered

'Everything will be alright very soon...''

Raman just put his arms around her and pulled her in fighting the urge to cry and break down in her arms. He had to be strong for everyone in his family because he knew even with whatever had been going on between them and how screwed up their relationships were, they never liked to admit it but they cared for each other and whatever they had just heard about their father scared them. He really needed this hug and he was so glad that she knew him well enough to know when he needed her and when he needed space.
