PS: IIT in early 1980s wasnt a big deal as it is today. Truly interested/geeky students used to get thru. The rest of the world didnt bother much for engineering.

IIT was a big deal in 1980s... Agrawal classes, Brilliants etc were doing very good business. During those days, IIT Kharagpur was number 1 and IIT Kanpur was no 2. He could have joined IIT Delhi, if he didn't want to leave Delhi. Let us put it this way, someone who has been close to me, has followed SRK's school career and this person went to IIT. So I am almost sure srk had not appear/clear JEE..

JEE always had its sheen.. Even in 80s, if you are in top 10 in JEE, MIT used to give direct admission.

Brilliant, Aggarwal were more prominent in the 1990s. My uncle got thru IIT too in the early 1980s but he left it for another course in another university in the North because he didnt want to shift to Chennai.

As for the person you are talking about.. would a student who got admission to a university would know who else was offered an admission across the years? Maybe SRK didnt get the Delhi option like my uncle? Anyways what I am saying is based on an article. It was a very old article from the 1980s soon after Fauji. The article could be completely wrong or completely right. Hence lets agree to disagree!

I remember listening to one of his interviews where he stated that he didn't want to study science/engineering after 12th, (so even in 1985, he didn't take jee ..)

Though here is one report that he took but could not clear..
