Prologue
Dust of the Dandelions
Dandelions
In a field of yellow flowers,
underneath the sun,
bluest eyes that spark with lightning,
boy with shoes undone.
He is young, so full of hope,
reveling in tiny dreams,
filling up, his arms with flowers,
right for giving any queen.
Running to her beaming bright,
while cradling his prize.
A flickering of yellow light,
within his mother's eyes.
She holds them to her heart,
keeping them where they'll be safe,
clasped within her very marrow,
dandelions in a vase.
She sees love, where anyone else would see weeds.
all hope is found.
Here is everything he needs.
Fathomless your endless mercy,
weight I could not lift.
Where do I fit in this puzzle,
what good are these gifts?
Not a martyr, or a saint,
scarcely can I struggle through.
All that I have ever wanted,
was to give my best to you.
The small doe grazed in the meadowland that was covered with the golden dandelion dust, next to the stream meandering through the valley, she looked about nervously, perking her ears at the smallest noise, geared to flee at the earliest danger. The tall eucalyptus and low lying willows provided gauzy veiling to the needles of the rays of sun that were descending over the ancient hills that stood as silent custodians to the richness of the history.
The mountain wind swept her hair with its usual vitality; the air was an elixir, the freshness of the scent making her feel dizzy. It was the same brook where she waded in, in search of the rounded pebbles with which they played in the absence of expensive toys. There was a time when the dense foliage scared her, but now it just made her feel safe, a sense of peace blanketing her warmly. The crumbling timbers of the tree draped over the brook provided an unsafe bridge to cross over to the other side. An equally crumbling barn stood over, with tumbled remnants of a picketed white fence that was no longer a barrier to the animals that roamed around freely to eat the last vestiges of a garden that saw better days.
As she stepped into the thick layers of the eucalyptus cones and decomposed leaves, the rustle made the doe look up, its entire body stretched like a bow and leaped over the ditch in front and leapt away like the devil was on its heels.
The afternoon was waning like the strength of her fight to keep her family secure, the billows of clouds were changing the color from the color of alabaster to a dark, murky grey black that spelled storm, trouble for the decaying roof that sheltered them.
As she slid down the slope of the grassy ridge, she picked up the tall blade of grass with the yellow dandelion flowers. Amidst the yellow flowers, the pale dried rosettes had snowflakes of dusty whisks of white hair in dozens of round clocks. The gently blowing wind was dispersing the pollen of the dandelions and spreading them in the air, giving it an appearance of falling snow. No wonder the fuzzy cotton like pollen was called the dandelion snow. The name dandelion is derived from the French, dent-de-lion, which is literally "lion's tooth", referring to the sharply-lobed leaves of the plant.
She smiled wanly; the lion's teeth did not really save the flowers from the wrath of the wind and seasons, did they? Bani shivered despite the old cardigan that covered her slight body. It was time to go inside. The fight was far from over. The pollen was shed for a reason, at the turn of the season, the flowers will be back, spreading the hills with their thick, yellow carpets.

Hi All:
I actually have one more short fiction going at this time, but some how this idea was in my head and I thought I would start it.
For those of you who have already read my fictions and those who like the comedy aspect, I wanted to apologize, because this is more like 'Candle In the Wind' not like 'The Blackmailed bride' or 'An Italian Serenade'.
I hope you will like this, I don't want to give away too much in the prologue, except that it is the strugge of the valiant. Struggle of two courageous spirits fighting against time, circumstances, and evilness of the world to come up and to find solace in each others arms. It is the story of Jai and Bani.
Let me know what you think so far.
As always, I love your feedback and your enormous support for my writing.
Some one had asked me to send links to my earlier FFs, so I put them up here.
Here are the links to my earlier FFs. I am afraid they are my first few and were a little lighter, not as intense as CITW.
