Sairaab: Meet singer Ishaan, who hides a PAINFUL past, and Dr. Nayanika, a divorcee staying with TOXIC in-laws

Sairaab's first episode opens with Dr. Nayanika, a strong and independent woman who has slowly rebuilt her life after being hurt by several people, including members of her own family.

As the day begins, Nayanika walks into her daughter Tinni's room and notices that she is still asleep. Nayanika has always tried to give Tinni every comfort possible, but her efforts often become a reason for criticism within the household. The elders frequently accuse her of being too lenient and pampering her daughter. Even small things, such as allowing Tinni to eat in her room, become subjects of discussion and disapproval.

Apart from managing family responsibilities, Nayanika is also a committed doctor at a hospital. Despite her dedication and achievements, she faces resentment from Shreya, who is unable to hide her jealousy over Nayanika's successful career and progressive outlook. Fortunately, Nayanika is not entirely alone in the family. Her father-in-law remains one of her biggest supporters and consistently motivates her to pursue her professional goals without hesitation.

A little later, Tinni finally gets out of bed, but she has no enthusiasm about going to college. The young girl feels uncomfortable because she fears being judged for her family's complicated circumstances. Adding to her discomfort is the fact that her stepmother, Angana Basu, teaches at the same college. The thought of encountering Angana in class leaves Tinni feeling anxious and emotionally unsettled. Though she often feels restricted by the atmosphere at home, she continues to dream of becoming a doctor and creating a future where she can live life on her own terms.

Meanwhile, Nayanika once again finds herself caught up in household duties. Despite being aware that Nayanika has other important plans, her mother-in-law insists that she prepare dinner for the entire family. Left with no choice, Nayanika puts aside her own commitments. Her mother-in-law also never misses a chance to remind her that she no longer has a husband, using the situation to make hurtful remarks that deepen Nayanika's emotional burden.

The narrative then sheds light on a difficult phase from Nayanika's past. Many years earlier, her husband Indranil Basu ended their marriage when their daughter Tinni was just three years old. Although the relationship came to an end, Nayanika was allowed to continue living in the Basu household because her father-in-law stood by her and supported her during that challenging period. His kindness played a major role in helping her raise Tinni as a single mother. Even today, however, Nayanika is expected to follow strict family traditions and superstitious beliefs because of her mother-in-law's rigid mindset.

Elsewhere, Tinni receives a phone call from her biological father, Indranil. However, she decides not to answer it. Her reaction reflects the emotional distance that has developed between father and daughter after years of separation and unresolved feelings.

Determined to make Tinni's birthday memorable, Nayanika arranges seven tickets for a live performance by Sairaab, the music band her daughter adores. Tinni is especially thrilled because she is a huge admirer of the band's lead vocalist, Ishan, and looks forward to seeing him perform in person.

On the other hand, Ishan is busy preparing for the band's upcoming events. During a conversation with his fellow musicians, the possibility of cancelling their Kolkata show is raised. However, the mention of the city immediately affects Ishan emotionally. Kolkata holds a special place in his heart because it is closely connected to his childhood and the memories he shared with his late mother. Even after all these years, the city continues to evoke strong emotions and nostalgia within him.

In the precap, Ishan visits Nayanika's clinic seeking medical assistance. During their conversation, he unexpectedly asks her out on a date. His sudden proposal leaves Nayanika completely shocked and speechless.
