To be honest from very early times I had believed karna liked draupadi instead of draupadi liked karna. May be because of BRC , SK and Sahara depictions. But I never felt its abnormal or insulting. Things other way round I learnt only after coming i-f.

Well...I'll share my experience of how I came to know of this angle and grew allergic to it.

Diala...please be patient with me dear...coz, I'll be doing Facebook jaap again...😆

In 2013, before Mahabharat started, I thought of doing a lot of reading on Draupadi.
My main attraction was Ardi since childhood, and from there I became a Draupadi fan...I read up almost all the blogs that talked about Ardi...n was practically obsessed with them.
Then one day, I came across a blog of Karna and Draupadi. It did not really bother me much because, though I loved Draupadi, I wasn't sensitive about her.

Then I came across a site, where some feminist or probably mythologist or NGO worker(not sure which one 😆) had given review of "Yajnaseni' by Pratibha Ray.That person had bashed the author like anything, and mainly bcoz of Karna-Draupadi scenes in the novel.

At that point, I was like 'What is wrong with this woman?' 'So wat the author has paired Karna with Draupadi? It's her wish...Why is this person bashing the author so much?'
That was me back in 2013, before Facebook happened to me...😆

After Draupadi's Swamvar episodes, all those fan pages on Facebook started discussing about the various controversial topics, and I being the naive me, 'Liked' each and every page...even the page named 'Karna the Great' (sorry, if the admin is a member of India Forums 😆), and then things changed. Initially, it was the Sutaputra jaap...then the polyandry jaap...then started the Jambu fruit jaap. People did not say 'I like Karna and Draupadi together.'
Instead they said, 'I hate Drauapdi...but she loved Karna and only Karna, not Arjun.'
And 'She is so characterless, that she even had her 'nazar' on Karna'.
I asked one of these people what is the source for all this, and the person said. 'Go read Karna's Wife. There u will see the truth. THE BITTER TRUTH.'
I was practically 😲
For six months, I argued day and night literally, staying awake like an idiot till five in the morning...n then practically got mad...😆 Those people practically drove me up the wall, then across the ceiling, and then down again with their 'Sutaputra', 'Andha Ka Putra Andha' and Jambu fruit jaap...And since then, I practically grew allergic...or should I say PHOBIC to Karna-Draupadi angle...Thankfully, I am not on Twitter, or else I would have surely gone to the asylum. 😆
And my only place to vent my frustration was Draupadi's AT...

So, I guess...we Drauholics have a reason to grow extremely allergic to Karna-Draupadi angle.

I dont know when this topic got banned on IF...Someone once told me that there was a major fight...after which this topic got banned. Thankfully, I was not part of the fight or else, I would been typing this post from a mental asylum...😆
I guess...just like Ardi haters started hating Ardi bcoz of fan outrage, Drauholics started hating Jambu fruit. I guess, some Ardi haters in this thread would know exactly what I mean...

So, now if anyone utters 'Jam', we Drauholics take out our swords and weapons...though the person was probably saying 'Jammu and Kashmir'...😆

May be after 20 years, I will be 🤣 at my own sensitivity at this but at this age, I proudly oppose it...

Sorry for the long Ram-Katha...but I really felt like sharing why we Drauholics started hating this.
Especialy after reading, how we Drauholics take classes and give lectures to people who like this pair...😉

Woow just like I guessed, this topic will rock a dead forum .. forbidden fruits are always tasty. 😆

Anyway, I won't dare to read long citations and won't say a word about if KD angle has ever existed .. I have no talent of reading the mind of people who had lived 4,500 years ago. So, I solemnly swear, my comment will only focus on how I feel about the idea of KD. 😊

Two closest persons in my life loves this angle when I don't like the idea much. Generally, our rate of agreeing on a specific matter and liking a person/ship is no less than 95%. So, when we disagree on KD thing, we discussed a lot and what I found their argument had one simple point - "they COULD make a perfect pair - it was in their characteristics." They never said they had something for each other, it was all about an idea that it would have been good based on a simple study-

Karna and Draupadi were two strongest persons but always faced injustice in hands of destiny. Both of them deserved everything and got nothing at the end. Both were wrong and wronged at some point and suffered the most. So, MAY BE if they were together, they could find a better life for themselves. These two were like two people made for each other put in ten types of adverse circumstances so that they never be together.

Well, I absolutely agree with their points but my observation says, these two always managed to bring the worst out of each other. I have shipped couple who brought the worst out of each other but guess what, they also brought the best out of each other. That is missing in KD. Now, one can say, may be if they were in favourable position we could see the other side of their relationship BUT that is too much "May Be" and "If" in an equation. and different circumstances won't let them be the K&D we know. I believe they both regret what they did to each other [they should] but no KD ship for me.

Anyway, if a new fiction has two characters with the features of K&D, I may like them because it will be a different story then.

Sayanee...if most fans of Mahabharat had been like your friends then I guess all this forum fights would not have taken place... 😭
I dont know about other Draupadi fans but I have no problem if people like Karna n Draupadi together for the reason u stated.
For me...it is the kind of statements that I have stated above that bothers me...Unfortunately most fans I have come across are like that who make claims n try to force that down everyone's throat...And no amount of logical explanation or reasoning works with these kind of people.
That is y some of us do the exact same thing n try to put our points with citations...Atleast we have authentic sources to support our claim...

As for the various novels...though I love some of them, I dislike the idea of propagating such angles through writing.
I know the authors have every right to write wat they want...but the pen is a very powerful tool...
Why embed false ideas in the name of creative liberty? Had they been fictitious chaaracters it had been fine.
But these characters are part of our epic...in a way religiously linked...so I find it wrong to malign them in this manner.
But that is my opinion. I guess I am slightly conservative.

And I agree with ur last part. Even I dont mind any modern rendition between them...bcoz mondern renditions like 'Draupadi in Heels' are fictitious stories...As long as the epic characters and the story is kept as it is...It doesnt matter if people create modern contemporary stories keeping the protagoists like K n D...bcoz that would be a different story, not Mahabharat.

Amrita, MAY BE?😆 How lightly being considered the honour of a human being? Do you really think the honour of a man has no value just because people don't make a fuss about it? People may not argue on it but KD certainly makes Karna despicable & characterless. If any sensible person comes across KD, Karna also is equally worth of condemning, not only Draupadi.
And unlike you said, very few Karna fans in IF support KD. Most of the people known to me are against it. As I can see, no Draupadi lover also supports it. If a person supports KD, that is due to lack of understanding the book. We shall only expect they will change after reading the book. Nothing can be done there.
I understand you worries about Draupadi but see we are helpless there. When I realised people read only what they want to read, that day I got done with it. Changing the opinion & beliefs of another person is always the last thing I ever can do. So I don't care what careless people who know nothing about the book say about any character. I am immune to that now. I had no other way than covering my feet & walk forward than wasting time clearing the dirt spread everywhere.

Jamy...I am not saying that a man's respect is not important...Ofcourse it is.
But from wat I have seen in my life...that in such love, affair issues...people first point fingers at the woman, n much later, the man. I am not talking about people on India Forums...bcoz India Forums has very few people.
Anyway...heroes like Karna n Arjun have a lot of attributes to remember them by...their warrior skills, Daanveerta, loyalty, friendship...but women comparitively have lesser roles to play n hence their character comes more into focus than those of men...Even Kunti is not spared n called 'characterless' by many... 😭

So ofcourse...a man's respect matters but in a polygamous society, such issues are not important for him...or so I feel.
By today's standards ofcourse this poses Karna in a bad light but in Dwapar Yug standards, maybe not so much.
And anyway...I have rarely seen people saying Karna had anything for her...And I think if people dont make fuss about something, then there is lesser worry.

And u are right about the last part. The biggest mistake I made in the last year is that I hoped that I could change people's minds by sincerely providing reasons n citations...But I was terribly wrong...

My..my...my..!! A topic on K-D angle, and this thread is all bonkers. I too, raised this question in an other thread, and members became a little sensitive to it. I now realize its depth..😆

How about this? - Till a few years ago, I actually thought that Karna also remained a bachelor like Bhishma till the very end. But ofcourse that bubble broke very soon, after Starbharat started and I kept reading about the characters.😆

I have read some really good comments here, and I agree, just because both are larger than life characters, and suffered a lot, doesn't really mean they should pair up together. For heaven's sake, they insulted each other.

Ok.., IF they had really ended up together in that swayamwara, itself, with Draupadi not opposing him, there wouldn't have been any Mahabharat in the first place. But this is just my POV.

I, personally am a huge admirer and fan of Karna, and if someone is saying that he died for her..is just appalling to the core 🤢

++++++++++++

All these being said, I m still 70% sure that SidT will somehow bring in this unexplored silly angle too, with Draupadi having a thing for him.😆

Guys, Draupadi hasn't entered this serial, and it's not even clear whether she will be. So please avoid discussing her AT ALL - one way or another. Not exactly moral policing, but I've reported this topic, since this serial is not MB, but about Karna, and that too, a rather fictitious Karna.
