Firstly Happy Birthday darling... 😃
Hope u had an amazing day... 😳

Secondly, I know wat you mean...I know Arjun is hailed as a casanova...
But the reason is not his multiple marriages...Even Bhima had three wives...
The reason is probably that he married three times during his exile, when he was supposed to be celibate...
I think that is the issue...And even if he is hailed as a casanova...i have rarely seen people call him 'characterless'.
And to be honest, how many people define Arjun only as a casanova?
He was an archer first...best friend of God Himself...hero of Mahanayak...n then a Casanova.

But look at Draupadi...the first thing people say about her is 'Oh she was married to five men!!'
There are jokes on Mahabharat where Draupadi is treated as a shared resource...

So do u see the difference between Arjun's playboy image n Draupadi's polyandrous image?
Men in those time had a lot to earn their reputation...They were warriors, scholars, etc. So amidst being a great warrior, if a man turned out to a bit of a playboy...it didnt bother much.
What did most women have in general except maintaining a Sati Savitri image? All her knowledge in law n ethics go for a toss, when people see her five husbands...

Even Word underlines the word 'husbands' for being plural, when I type something on Draupadi... 😆

So though many people consider Arjun as a casanova...the number of such people are nothing compared to those who consider Draupadi as 'characterless'...

That's certainly not a banned topic for discussion.. No bashing is universal.. This show forum is yet to get a mod of its own so don't bother about what some set of people prefer to be a rule..

Well TM...let me tell u one thing honestly...I am a great opposer of this pairing...but for the first time, I am actually liking the discussions here...The reason is, u havent tried to forcefully claim that they loved each other...instead u expressed your opinion honestly...I liked how you expressed your views on two of the most dynamic characters...

If seen that way...then maybe, maybe they could have made a great pair...Or may be not.
On one hand, Karna n Draupadi were two dynamic people...so maybe they would have made a great pair.
On the other hand...if u see carefully, then Karna n Draupadi had conflicting attributes...
Both were sharp-tongued, both were short-tempered, both had a dominating personality(or that's wat I have understood).
So...can two such people be perfect for each other?
May be not.

I feel that men like Karna deserve a sorted woman...something like Vrushali(as she is imagined).
And Draupadi deserved a more calm man...coz two swords cant exist in a sheath.
It's unfortunate that Draupadi was married to five...n quite ironically Bhima(who was the most hot-headed) turned out tobe her best husband...Nonetheless wat I mean to say is, they both were different yet similar in such a way, MAY BE they would not have made a great pair...but that is my opinion.

Now coming to y it is a forbidden topic...well some people here raised the topic of fan groups...
Now I can only speak for myself n say y I hate this topic...

You see...this whole pairing involves two people, Karna and Draupadi. To be honest, this linking does not impact Karna's reputation ONE BIT...Karna was a man...so whether he was married to fifty women or loved Draupadi...nothing can impact his image...He will always be hailed as 'Danveer' n all...irrespective of who he is linked with. Hence Karna lovers either like this pairing or are simply not bothered about it.

But Draupadi was a woman...n a polyandrous woman. Just for her polyandry, she is called 'characterless' by many though she was legally married to five...On top of that, if she is linked with Lord Krishna or Karna then u can imagine where that leads her...
Despite wat is written in the epic, people still see elements of prostitution in her bcoz of her polyandry...So now if she is paired to other men as well...I hope u see, where it puts her. Our society is still conservative... 😭

I liked Palace of Illusions...bcoz it depicted Karna-Draupadi angle in a different way. She liked Karna before she met her husbands n thanks to their failure, she could not love them. But the Jambu fruit story where Draupadi says 'If only Karna had been Kunti's son...I would have married him too'...this is absolutely 🤢
So the Palace of Illusion angle is tolerable...but Jambu fruit is not, bcoz it kind of depicts Draupadi as a very dissatisfied woman.

So though it's easier to say that 'let people have their own POV'...it's difficult to deal with various POVs when people pass nasty comments about something u hold dear just for the sake of expressing their POV. For me that dear thing is Draupadi.

Thanks for making this post...😊Coz we really needed to have a constructive discussion on this...for a LONG time.
And u are spared of the Mahabharat classes n citation sessions 😉 😆 coz u expressed ur opinion in a very decent way, unlike wat others have done before in this forum regarding Karna and Draupadi...

I hope I have been able to express y most Draupadi admirers(if not all) oppose this pairing...😊 It's just that we are very sensitive n sentimental about wat people think about Draupadi's character.

I'll quote my Karnali friend Riti here...

'Maybe we are sentimental...but you don't be judgemental'...[Meant for all those who accuse Drauholics for opposing this pair]

Hi Amrita.! Thank you for the appreciation. Draupadi was a strong woman in the midst of a male dominated society. I felt she never really lead a life she was worth/capable of. She was born out of fire for god's sake. She would have been a great warrior. The unfairness to women started with Amba..Then Kunti ( In those days lower caste ppl were allowed to have children before marriage too.. Infact Kunti's Maid laments about the unfairness of the upper class because Kunti had to give up her child )
Then came Draupadi. Due to political reasons she was married off and distributed among the brothers. I am hoping that Draupadi was Happy because , if men can have multiple wives , why can't women too have Multiple Husbands right! Maybe among the 5 pandavas she loved Arjun the most.. But overall i think whom she loved was Krishna ( Not in a romantic way but they shared strong bond ) then perhaps Karna.. In my opinion , they were like North pole South Pole of Magnets.. Both Equally powerful.. Both equally unfortunate. One born from Fire and Other a Part of the Sun.
I wish Draupadi and Karna would have ruled their respective Kingdoms Side by Side without the need for the War.

Peace :)

About their pairing.. Mmm they don't compliment each other is what I wanna think but again that sharp tongued woman in Draupadi came out only after DH.. So she would have been a great wife for anyone or any many.. My choice has always been Yudi.. For the status she got being his wife (consider DS didn't happen).. Her skills wouldn't have been put into use had she married Arjuna n for me that is more important for any man or woman than love interests..

And the hero Karna would have been good with anyone as his wife/wives 😎 ... Handsome baby

Amrita, I totally agree with you on why Karna & Draupadi could not have made a good pair. I also hold similar views. They were a lot similar & that dominating attitude which was not accepted by both Karna & Draupadi from anyone else could have made things worse if they were attracted to each other. I am sure they were intelligent enough to figure out that.
And how can we say KD will never affect Karna's honour/reputation just because he was a MAN? KD makes him desire the wife of five men, the wife of his enemy, which can go to the extent of people saying Karna fought Arjuna for Draupadi. Isn't that despicable and worthy of condemning? Does that NOT make Karna look ridiculous and characterless? Karna fought his enitre life only to be accepted as he was and this KD uproots his all efforts making him into a devdas who wasted his whole life for another man's wife !!!! That is the worst someone can portray Karna. It is worse than the bandhaki interpolation. You may not feel this is big. But for men, this is certainly one of the greatest issues. So as much as KD affects Draupadi, that much it affects Karna too. This is also why I am against KD.
As far as I am concerned, I don't think KD is a forbidden topic. Dil hai ki maanta nahin, I agree because no dil is so big enough accept all these 100%. But I believe in respecting a few things I see if they are presented in a decent way. Well, with the indecent ones, I better keep mum.😆

Jamy...may be watever u are saying is valid...but Karna n Arjun's rivalry started long before Draupadi became Arjun's wife...So I dont think people would ever say that...And people rarely say 'Karna loved Draupadi.'

And okay...probably I'll make a very politically incorrect statement here. Most of the people who root for this pair n even fight with others are Karna admirers...some of them are Draupadi admirers too...but most are Karna admirers. I know I cant prove this but if u regularly visit fan pages of Mahabharat, u will see the general trend.
Why is that?
I am sharing my experience of wat I have seen...some Karna admirers do oppose this...but most like to ship for it, even if they detest Draupadi. Why is that?(I apologize for bringing in fan groups here).

Why is there the tendency to prove that Draupadi loved Karna n not her husbands...n then the satisfaction that Karna rejected her?
I understand ur point but very few people think like you. Nobody says 'Karna loved Draupadi.' Instead they say 'Draupadi loved Karna' n that is wat irks me even more.
There is this tendency to prove that Draupadi rejected Karna n got married to five men who couldnt satisfy her...So she being the 'arrogant, characterless woman' fell back to Karna...but Karna being the noble man rejected such a petty offer.
This is precisely how people see it...Please note that if this had been a part of the epic, then we would not have had the guts to oppose this...but we oppose bcoz the epic doesnt have it.

I do not oppose wat Jhum said...If Draupadi regretted marrying five men then it's fine. Indeed she had suffered bcoz of her polyandry...I do not oppose any mutual admiration either...but I do oppose the above mindset...
Search for any blog on Jambu fruit n this is how things will be depicted.

My opposition is mainly with the fact...that people put everything on Draupadi's shoulders...n make it appear as if she was some dissatisfied woman...If it's a tragic love story like Palace of Illusions, then it's tolerable.
But if it's forced, indecent story...then I oppose.

Sorry if I offended anyone...
