I am not talking about the sethu matter. As far as Ravan is concerned, his wish was that noone other than humans should kill him.So if Ram was God then how can he kill Ravan.I became more confused after reading another thread created by akhl regarding the things missing in the serial..............

As far as i have known and heard,in hindu culture God is somebody else who has no body(courtesy: gayathri mantra),Vishnu, shiv and brahama are forms of God and are not completely god.So in that sense Ram will no be god, right?

God, being God cannot have any limitation. Saying He cannot have a body is a limitation. If we read the scriptures, we find that God has been called both Sagun as well as Nirgun. Sagun has a form and Nirgun is formless. So, God can be without form. Whenever, He wishes, He can have any form He likes. Not only that, He can exist in various forms at the same time.
Ram was an incarnation of Vishnu. Ravan had the boon that he could not be killed by anybody other than a human. Moreover, in a previous birth Ravan was a doorkeeper, named Jay, in Vaikunth and because of a curse from Kumar brothers, he had to take birth on Earth. Vishnu decided that when Jay takes birth on Earth, then Vishnu himself would kill Ravan.
Now, how to fulfill both conditions. For this, Vishnu incarnated as a human. He did not use any divine qualities to kill Ravan.

Well according to Hindus, Ram is the avatar of Lord Vishnu. Therefore he is considered a god.

He was also known as "Maryada Purshotam" which means the ideal man. This was another reason he is considered a God.

Ram is Ram.He was worshipped more than 2000 years ago before any other modern god or messiah was born. And he is worshipped today.Whether he was a god or a human being i.e. entirely upto you.Whether he existed or not,it is for you to believe. No science can provide you with answers.

and why is an ideal man considered god? And I think that I get the point rish_w/liv is tryin to make... Vishnu can be god, but his avatar, ram, cant be god because in order to kill ravan the avatar has to be normal human... and humans cant be gods!

You are saying that even if Vishnu is god, his incarnation Ram cannot be god. I disagree. Of course, this was a human incarnation. But God has every right to take any form he wishes. If he so wishes, he can take the form of an insect and still retain the divinity.
If somebody says that he believes Ram as only a human and not god, I can understand. But we should not put limitation on God by saying that he cannot take the form of human and retain his divinity.
Let us not limit God by saying "He can't do this, He can't do that."

Aham Bhramasmi

Main hi Brham hoon. This is teh beleif of Sanatan Dharam.
When we are born, We have qualities of God but as we grow we are attracted to different form of Sins (lies, lust, lure, attractions, voilence etc)and hence become just human and we lose the part of God in us.

Ram was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In this incarnation, Vishnu didn't use any powers. He achieved victory in all situations just like a man would.

Thus, Ram was a God....since he had 100% of Vishnu's abilities (Both physical and mental).

Wow......I never knew there would be a fight over this issue........

Children these days..........lol.. 😆
