Salman Khan hearing on 13th July

The Bombay high court on Wednesday was adjourned to July 13, the appeal filed by actorSalman Khan against his conviction for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the 2002 hit and run case.

After the HC had suspended the trial court sentence of five years' rigorous imprisonment forSalman Khan last month on May 6, the HC had granted him bail.

On June 15th the court had postponed the matter to July 1st after it was informed that the paper book of the case papers was not ready.

Seeking more time for verification of documents, Salman Khan's advocate Amit Desai told the court that the papers were delivered to him only last evening (Tuesday). Desai asked for three weeks, but public prosecutor Sandeep Shinde said that the request was nothing but an attempt to kill time!

The paper book of the appeal was ready and submitted to the court but it contains five volumes, which needs to be translated into English. The language used in the High Court is English and all documents in any other language used in lower courts as evidence must be translated into English and this will take some time.

Now the hearing will now take place on July 13th 2015.
