I get that this is getting tedious. And I promise I will ignore the Shaad/Jannat angle of the pak track totally from now on.

However I had this written down a week ago and I've been coming to terms with this whole issue and as much as it upsets me, I realize that my profession as a social worker is making me too sensitive to this. STILL what the cvs are doing here is highly irresponsible and very offensive to women/girls who had gone through this type of situation so I am going to lay down a few things that need to be said clearly...

First of all forget Sanam, Ahil and Sahil...forget Q2 altogether before reading further... because this is not about the over all story of Q3 at all.

Let's just see the pak track as a story between Shaad and Jannat... Jannt a girl who has no memories, and we know nothing about her past... It does not matter whether Jannat is Sanam, Seher or a completely new character. Also forget Jannat's totally irrational behavior as an amnesic...

My main issue with the story of Jannat and Shaad has EVERYTHING to do with its EXECUTION.

The story is told mainly from the perspective of Shaad and his journey of falling in love' with Jannat.

Shaad's character has two contrasting portrayals the way it is executed for the audience.

1. An average good guy with everyday flaws who falls in love' with an amnesic girl he rescued from trouble.

2. A mentally unstable guy who has developed an obsession for a girl and wants to keep her with him forcibly'. This is where the cvs and fans are failing horribely with regards to Shaad.

Shaad was the good guy with everyday flaws till they showed him lapping up all the caring and attention bestowed on him as she is led to believe he is her husband...

If circumstances (the need to catch SK, to get out of marrying Misbah or her safety) were what was stopping him from telling the truth to Jannat , then the good' guy would have been shown to keep his distance from her instead of being around her all the time and accepting her advances.

Instead we are shown him dancing happily with her, whispering in her ears, holding her hands, sharing a room with her and pretty much acting like a real husband except for sleeping together.

Jannat is pretty much in the position of a girl, being drugged by the guy who has developed an obsession for her and thus is kidnapped and continually being kept drugged so she is blissfully compliant and happy in her drugged state...

Shaad the obsessed kidnapper who is enjoying the attention, caring and advances bestowed on him by his object of obsession and is getting more delusional day by day. It does not matter to him that his object of desire is there without her own free will or by choice. It does not matter to him that she is going through a mental illness and needs treatment which he is withholding from her...

It does not matter that she does not know her own family or life though she has told him she craves for it. In short his love and caring for her goes only as far as it serves his sick need to have her act as his love' and wife. Basically Shaads actions with regards to Jannat are the actions of a pervert or a mentally unbalanced person.

She is pretty much living with him as his wife, sharing a room and a whole host of other intimate compromising situations that would naturally arise between a husband and wife...( except for sleeping on the same bed)...He has been shown to lap up everything else on offer by her...But then it is a misnomer that somebody obsessed with a girl only wants sex with them or that violation of woman only occurs if/when sexual intimacies are forced upon the victim as in rape.

Tell me which woman wants to be in the position of Jannat right now...It does not matter whether she is married or single. Who would want to be kept by a strange man and act in front of the whole society as his wife while it is a complete lie. Who among us would NOT feel violated knowing they allowed intimacies to a total stranger and all this was usurped under a lie without our own free will.

BUT instead of executing this as a gross human rights violation of a woman, the cvs are using this premise to carve out a love story while the actions and violations that Shaad has committed against Jannat speak of a sick obsession.

Every step of the way, this violation of this woman is trivialized and romanticized to the extent that half the audience is able to ENJOY watching Shaad VIOLATE this woman and find every intimate situation shown between them romantic.

The story is told in such a convoluted way that even some of the audience that does not find the situation romantic is able to think of Shaad as a tragic average good guy with everyday human failings on his way to major heart break...AND people are actually able to empathize with the violator INSTEAD of the girl being violated here...

This show has seen numerous instances of every type of horro being committed against people but it has never portrayed any of these situations as anything other than clearly what it is, and wrong in every aspect...be it Dishaad and Rashid, Asad and Tanveer, Haider and Humaira, Sanam and Ahil, Ahil and Seher, Rahat and Haya... and Haya and Faiz (the scenario most similar to Shaad and Jannat currently).

Now the current story of Jannat and Shaad has progressed so far that the only way out of this sick premise so the audience is no longer fed a completely wrong portrayal about exploitation of women as something romantic and trivial is to clearly execute this character Shaad for the mentally unbalanced person his actions towards Jannat portrays him to be ...

And this is how the fans have failed Shaad as well...unnecessary gushing clouds the situation for what it is and the opportunity to tell cvs how it actually looks from the beginning was lost which could have made a difference in how the Shaad/Jannat story was told thus far.

Now the way Shaad is presented by the cvs lack so much substance and continuity and makes him unrelatable and hateful for half the audience.

PS: I actually find it ironic that some wanted this same premise and story for Seher and it would have been all fine and dandy...

With the way Shaad is shown right now, Shaad needs to be portrayed as mentally unbalanced whoever the female opposite him is...Seher or otherwise.

👏 Great job, SA. You've said it all. Nothing more to say.

Everthing comes down to this..

1. An average good guy with everyday flaws who falls in love' with an amnesic girl he rescued from trouble.

2. A mentally unstable guy who has developed an obsession for a girl and wants to keep her with him forcibly'. This is where the cvs and fans are failing horribely with regards to Shaad.

1) was lost from the time he hardly acted like someone put in this position by his own mistakes, and acted pretty much normally and freely with regards to Jannat.

2) May be the case, as it is told from his POV. But it is not clear yet.

I know we have had chats about this for quite some time. You always felt strongly about this coz of your background with working with girls who have been in exploitative situations!

The CV's were totally irresponsible in the way they portrayed this story! THAT was the issue from the start! Making Jannat so "Free and Easy" made Shaad also act totally free and easy with her! That was HIS mistake, coz he knew the truth! Con girl Seher always maintained distance from Aahil even at the expense of blowing her cover. She had the decency not to go close to a man she had no relationship with!

However, from almost day 1, Shaad had NO such issues. We see he is quite happy to be in his delusion and "Just Go with it!". Accept for the time he opened the Missing person's file in a fit of "Guilt" we never see an issue in him accepting her advances. He even makes some of his own by holding her hand in front of his Dad and whispering in her ear in front of a whole crowd etc. Now even declaring his "Love" and closing off her file! He also has no issue making up lie after lie, even when he can clearly see how "Distressed" she is by her lack of memories!

If they showed the "Hook" scene he would have looked like the biggest pervert ever! Fans of Shaad actually had NO issue with him looking like an opportunistic Cad taking advantage of this girl's ignorance and ogling her semi clad body and touching her. But NON fans had the issue, and people who saw it for what it really was. Channel also saw it and cut the scene!

Shaad's actions are almost that of a kidnapper and someone who just "captures" and imprisons someone! Someone once argued with me that he is not keeping her "locked!". Yes but that does not mean she can "Leave?" How will she leave when she thinks their relationship is "legitimate?" WHY would she leave? So in essence she is trapped! Closing off the file was a calculated choice to now NEVER let her go. He wont change his mind now. He has chosen a side. It is 100% creepy now. No way back!

The biggest issue here is the romantisization and glorification of this exploitative behavior of a man who is just USING this women for his own DELUSIONS! He also has no respect for his Father or family and honestly besides his "Looks", have nothing much else to recommend him!

NO girl would ever want to be where this girl is! Married or single. Just because he did not have "sex" with her, that does not mean he is a Gentlemen or that he is not "exploiting" her. I think people assume only "sex" is exploitation. It is NOT! What he is doing is exploitation too. But the makers decided to play ASYA BG and make it look like this big "picnic" instead of what it really is. A girl with no choice, fooled into living as someone's wife and DENIED the chance to know who she REALLY is and where she really belongs! THAT is what this is!

Your right! The "Gushing" gave the wrong impression and made CV's even MORE slack in their story. Now I think maybe they are finally getting the message! Not everyone is "Buying" this gentlemen act!

SheAish ... First of all i know talking about a sensitive issue in a public forum i just wanna salute u 👏👏👏
I agree, not only the CVs, i would blame VT's acting prowess too. Both these factors came into play n the results are a confused n convulated plot, i seem not to understand this guya bit, nor did i get what CVs wanna portray . That has to do with both, If CVs wrote a brainless story , it would hv been hard fr an actor to undrrstand and enact iti get it.

Regarding ur concerns, i have seen n has gotten pissed off at thr gushing and romanticization of sych a situation. Just like i it angers me to see The girl getting close to the guy n the guy enjoying such liberties as getting close to her, doing her blouse, getting to sit with her in her bed n all...

Trust me, i have read that its a fiction show at the end of the day n why to give so much importance to it n all that jazz.. But that diesnot mean that showing a serious crime like Rape in fiction n then romanticizing it makes the deed bearable, justifieble or tolerable, a Rape is a Rape, if people try to trivialize or romanticize it or if people are getting affected by it as a trivial issue. Then thats a horrible situation , so i get what u want to say . we cant say n brush aside every serious thing by saying "its just a fiction"

CVs have been really really irresponsible in trying to trivialize and romanticizing a serious issue n just by running a disclaimer everyday doesnot serve the purpose

SA👏 hats off for this insightful post!
"The story is told in such a convoluted way that even some of the audience that does not find the situation romantic is able to think of Shaad as a tragic average good guy with everyday human failings on his way to major heart break...AND people are actually able to empathize with the violator INSTEAD of the girl being violated here..."

The way it's all packaged, very sly Cvs! u have fun & frolic in Fakestisan, with the OTT Jinnat reminding people of her much loved mother and show unpalatable horror on the Indian side. Plus,it helps a lot the violator is handsome.
Will Shadd be shown unhinged?I doubt. He'll be glorified further and probably die a hero's death, getting away easily.

There's no use in beating a dead horse.

BUT, I loved reading through your thought process. It made way too much sense for this forum. :)

@Mischy:
Yes sometimes even I struggle with the "emoting". I mean in that Ambulance scene? When he said "close the file", he had NO expression on his face. No guilt, no remorse, no hesitation. Nothing!

So from that I understood this was a cold and calculated choice he made! If THAT is not what was supposed to be shown, then I am sorry, the expressions totally FAILED that scene! I got nothing from it, accept his calculated choice! THAT is not how you show conflict!

So I have to assume he gave the exact expression he was supposed to! Blank. No emotions. Cold choice. If that was what he was supposed to do, then he NAILED it! But if not, then he failed it!

Thanks KK.

Your are right that Shaad is not sold as a mentally unstable guy and that is where my problem with the cvs lie...the ONLY other explanation is that he is a pervert as in an out and out villan like the witch...and they are not showing him as such a character either.

His ACTIONS towards Jannat says he is doing something gravely wrong. BUT it is not shown as such clearly irrespective of this, and THAT is what I hate...THAT is how the gravity of the issue is trifled with...
A normal everyday guy would NOT do what he is doing with Jannat, that's it...period...

As it is I don't see cvs addressing this at all, so I just want this track over with ASAP and till then I'll just ignore it...

You have said it all. I completely agree with you. Great Job!

I never understood how this act was taken as a gentleman act. How would she feel if she knows the truth. Leave the Aahil part aside. But, let it be anyone how would she feel as a women. And the worst part is, it is some people care only about Shaad's heartbreak.

Agree it is a fiction, but still they just can't show whatever they want. And all this is called Love! He has closed the missing file! She would never know who she was. Her identity is stolen! And I call it a crime done with full knowledge. He knew she craves for her family. He knew she loves someone but he wants her to be with him just because he is obsessed with her and doesn't want her to leave him. I never understood if this is called love. He is a selfish man and just using her.

We had so many tracks but I never found any one this bad. He never cared about anyone in his life.
I don''t have words to tell how disgusting it is? Because, he literally committed a crime and on the top of it he is an Army Officer? The girl goes to heights for him just because she thinks he is her husband. What would go on her if she knows she was treating someone else like her husband having one who loves her madly!

He has a loving family, but he never cares for them. He might be a calculated person, but how can he take someone's else life just like that!

I don't know how people find it good. But, for me he is committing a crime and moving around freely and being a army officer!
