Chapter: 8

He was still gauging her words...Kya hamara koi wajood nahi hai...hum bas ek vastu bankar reh gaye hai...what was she saying? Does she have any idea what importance she holds in my life? Does she even have any single clue what my heart felt when she left? Then realization dawned upon him...i have never expressed my feelings to her then on what basis i should expect anything from her side. He sighed! I need to do something.
He bended and came head to head with jodha. He wanted to embrace her and kiss all her pains away but he chose to maintain a distance. He hesitantly advanced his hand towards her, while she was sobbing with her head facing away...she felt a soft touch on her cheek and immediately looked towards him...their eyes met each other gaze and they got lost for a while. Jalal slowly wiped the tears off her face without breaking their eyelock. Both of them were staring each other keeping aside the situation they were brought in by the god as whatever be the judgement their emotions would never change. They knew that they have immense feelings for each other, they knew that they can't live without each other, they knew its too late to get rid of each other!
Jodha broke the chain of thoughts and realized that she is getting weak by her heart. She quickly stood up facing her back towards him, it was giving her the pain she had no courage to face as she knew she will lose the battle if this conversation is extended for even a second. She decided to go and thats when she heard him saying in a weak voice "Hum aapke radha krishna ko wapas unke ghar le jaane aaye hai jodha begum" she halted in her tracks as these words escaped from his mouth. Her heart pained to hear those lines...she turned around and saw him. Those eyes were pleading her to stay back. Her heart was already in his arms but something inside her played a roadblock for her soul to reach there. She gathered a stoneless face and with a cold voice she replied to him "Shenshah jab tak krishna aur radha ek dusre ke saath hai unka ghar swayam ve khud hai aur rahi baat unke ghar ki toh shenshah kanha sabke man mei vaas karte hai...unke ghar nahi bana karte...zara apne bheetar jhaankne ka prayaas kijiye, kya pata aapko bhi apne krishna radha wahi mil jaaye" with completing these lines she left from there leaving a broken jalal. He watched her going like a wind...she ran away after walking few steps away from him.

Jalal was stunned by her words Why she is always right...her soul is so pure like her words. How could i hurt her everytime in the same place! She wrote in that letter that she had fallen for me and instead of loving her back i broke our budding love! He looked towards the sky and asked his allah for what crime you have given me such a brutual punishment! You took away my jodha from me. He felt defeated, but unlike wars this time the situation was worse. He knew once she had made her mind nobody except her can change it. He wanted to stop her but this time he had even lost that right to do so.

Jodha rushed into the hut and sat on the bed...tears were automatically pouring out of her eyes...she was helpless, again. She started sobbing badly, her mind was taking her back to the place from where she never wanted to return, she thought of jalal and deeply sighed amongst her sobs...she could feel that he was hurt. She was feeling sad for him, she wasn't angry anymore because of whatever happened that night as she felt it was even her mistake that she hid the most important thing from him. But she was deeply hurt because he took her for granted...everytime...somewhere or the other he had never trusted her sincereity and devotion towards their marriage, whatever she had done for him till now even failed to bring that trust in their relationship...then what is the point of being together when the basic foundation of "Trust" does not exist?
She bowed her head and took a deep breath...wiped her tears and moved out of the hut in no time. She decided to go to shiv temple as she had kept her radha krishna there before going for the mahapuja.

Jalal was walking on the deserted path...it was close to night time so there was hardly people out there. He was thinking of some idea through which he can convince jodha, somehow make her see that she is as important for him as sun is for the moon. He just cannot let her go!
"Aadaab huzoor!" his thoughts got interrupted by a soldier.
Jalal looked at him and said "Aadab, kaho kya hua?"
"Huzoor atgah sahab ne aapke liye khat bhijwaya hai" and he gave the roll to jalal.
He asked his considerate to read it.
"Pranaam shenshah
Hum aapko yeh khabhar dena chahte hai ki agra ke paas abul maali ke log dekhe gaye hai, humei shak hai ki mahal ke andar se hi koi unki madad kar raha hai...aapse nivedan hai ki aap kuch din baad agra aaye taaki tab tak hum haalat ko kaabu mei kar sake"
Jalal gets in deep thinking after reading this letter. He got scared with the mention of abul maali...as he saw him in his dream...atgah sahab was right, he cannot afford to take jodha begum to agra as for now. Then his thoughts got a little disturbed...jodha begum is not ready to reconcile things with him, abul maali is near agra, maybe someone from the palace is helping him out.
What he will do for his family and aavaam's safety now? Back of the mind, he felt bad for leaving his kingdom and coming to apologise here! He felt trapped from both the sides...on one side jodha is going away from him and on the other side his family is in danger. He whispered some words to ask relief from allah!

Jodha was going to the temple to take her krishna and radha ji's idol. Her mind and heart were busy fighting over what was right and what should she do now. Her mind indicated her a thumbs up saying that she is correct at her point and she should not go back whereas her heart in defense just smiled and made her remember jalal's face...when he was unconscious lying under a tree on her lap...when he was pleading her to come with him to agra and last moment of their confrontation when he was looking all broken from inside!
She didn't knew when last she felt this kind of helplessness. She simply walked inside the temple and carried the idols in her hand, she bid goodbye to the pandit ji and then came out. Lost in deep thoughts she heard some whispers and directed her towards the source...she found two soldiers standing besides the temple...they were mughal sipahi's...jodha saw them and understood that they are relaxing themselves...she was about to go when she heard one of them saying...
"Ab kya karenge shenshah"
and jodha paused...she stood there and tried to listen the whole conversation.
"Kya karenge...mujhe toh bahut bura lagta hai unhe iss haalat mein dekhkar...shenshah hone ka kitna bada mulya chukaana padta hai kabhi socha nahi tha..!"
"Sahi keh rahe ho tum, ab agra ki khabhar sunke kitne pareshaan lag rahe the wo.."
Jodha's ears got straightened up and her brows narrowed Agra ki khabhar?
"Haan ab abul maali ne bhi apne logon ko agra ke aas paas fela diya hai, unpe ab pure agra ko surakshit rakhne ki zimmedaari hai"
"Haan par mujhe ek baat ki khushi hai ki atgah sahab ne iss haalat ko bahut ache se sambhala aur shenshah ko abhi agra na aane ki salaah de di.."
"Iss mushkil ghadi mein humei bhi shenshah ke saath hi rehna chahiye...kya pata kal ka suraj hamare liye kya leke aaye"
The soldiers smiled and went away to fulfill their responsibilities.

Since jalal got this information he was continuously discussing it with his main soldiers, he had replied to atgah sahad making him sure that he will take care of himself alongwith those who are associated to agra.

One soldier came and asked him "Huzoor kya hum yaha khema lagaane ki tayyari shuru karde?" to which jalal replied "Nahi yaha nahi, hum kahin dur jaake rukne ka prabandh karenge...yaha pehle hi sabko pata chal gaya hai...hum nahin chaahte aur logon ko pata chale..."
Jalal was very busy and occupied when he heard a light voice calling her name.
"Shenshah..."
He turned and saw jodha standing few meters away with radha krishna idol in her hand.
"Takhliya" jalal immediately said without removing his stare from jodha.
They were now left alone on the deserted path. Jalal was surprised to see jodha, he thought she left and he would have to trace her again.
Jalal I thought you left me
Jodha I had to return
Jalal Why you are not speaking anything
Jodha How do I start? and she starts looking here and there breaking their eye lock.
Jalal is busy looking at her face, her hesitancy, and her hands which are tightly holding the idol. He clears her throat and she looks at him, he nudges his nose with his hand to make her realize that she came here and she has to speak.
Jodha gulps in and taking a deep breath she says "Hum apne ghar jaana chahte hai" Jalal becomes excited all of a sudden and says "Toh kya aapne humei muaaf kar diya jodha begum?' Jodha shoots a glance at him and says "Humne yeh toh nahi kaha" Jalal's heart sighs but his happiness is still intact...he is about to say something when he remembers atgah sahab's letter and his suggestion to stay away from agra. "Jodha begum...par abhi agra lautna munaasib nahi ho payega..woh.." and she cuts him in between saying "Hum agra ki nahi amer ki baat kar rahe the" stealing eye contact with him. Jalal pauses and gives her a confused look, and continued "Oh...acha..Toh aap apne ghar yaani ki amer jaane ki baat kar rahi thi!" he consoles himself. "Kyun...kya wo hamara ghar nahi hai?" jodha replies back giving him a stern look.
Jalal "Nahin nahin jodha begum...beshak who aapka ghar hai...Bhaagin"
Jodha with a proud expression "Hum waha jaldi se jaldi jaana chahte hai, acha hoga agar aap waha jaane ki hamari tayyari karwaade, pranaam" she went away giving him orders. Jalal stood there as it is still remembering what just happened "Pranaam...jodha begum..." but he smiled a little whispering

Lagta hai hawa ka rukh badal raha hai.



Jodha went and sat inside the hut, she looked at the moon...her heart was giving her some unknown happiness...she didn't knew but just a mere thought of being with jalal or having him around her was providing her soul a deep solace. Suddenly her heart was finding reasons to beat fast and a strange excitement was engulfing her.
Humei nahin pata hum aisa kyu mehsus kar rahe hai, shayad unka saath hamari aadat ban gayi hai aur unki musibat hamari pareshaani. Hum unse shayad ab khule man se kabhi apni dil ki baatein na kar paaye kyunki humei dar lagta hai wapas se kahin wo bharosa aur dil toota toh jodne mei puri zindagi na nikal jaaye.

A new path and starting of a new journey was awaiting both jalal and jodha.
