A straight RReview today, friends, mainly because today's episode didn't inspire me enough to invest the time and energy I usually put into a creative take.
Having picked an auspicious date for PaRud's wedding, Kakisa waits to break the news to Rudra. His resultant rage will, she hopes, expose the fake engagement. And then she can kick the lot of them out of the haveli.
The wedding announcement has wrecked Paro's peace of mind. But Dilsher assures her that she needn't worry; there won't be any wedding (foreshadowing, anybody?) and Rudra will shut Kakisa up. Paro's newfound calm is shattered by an excited Sunehri. And by Mythili who wants Paro's help with the list of invitees. Seeing Paro's troubled face, Mythili assures her she has nothing to worry about - Rudra cares for her, talks with her, stands shoulder-to-shoulder with her, takes slaps for her... Where there is a heart, there is hope. And Rudra banna has a heart and it will beat for her one day, as hers will for him.
Wise words from the outsider who sees things for what they are, unencumbered by any kind of baggage. Now if only Paro had believed and trusted in Mythili's reading.
Meanwhile, Danveer informs his brother about Rudra's four-day deadline for his court-martial over the shootout at the border. Dilsher is distraught. The uniform is Rudra's raison d' etre; his pride and joy; his peace; his parents; his life. If it is taken away from him Rudra will die. If he loses his identity, he will lose himself.
Here then is the justification for Rudra's blackmail of Paro tomorrow, and tells us what to expect in the increasing likelihood of Rudra being court-martialled.
Rudra is hailed by Kakisa as he walks into the haveli. He seems dazed, and not in the mood for any dramatics. But when did that stop Kakisa? Kakisa tells him she has an invitation for him - for his wedding with the Smoke Maiden, aka Parvati baisa, which will take place in ten days' time. And waits expectantly for the fallout. But Rudra is silent, preoccupied. Frustrated, she tells him there's no pressure, he needn't go through with the wedding if he doesn't want to, as long as he gives her a reason why not.
At this, Rudra swivels to face Paro and, triumph on his face, walks up to her. Then announces that the wedding will not take place in ten days, but in four - pulling the rug out from under both Kakisa's and Paro's feet. And watches the smirks disappear and anxiety deepen. Warming to his theme, he hands Kakisa the responsibility of organising the wedding, after all she is the eldest, twice-related to him, an upholder of social norms and moreover has the money to fund the wedding. It makes complete sense to let Kakisa handle the wedding. Rudra has seen the way out of his coil.
Today we got a rather low-key episode, with Rudra's four-day wedding challenge the only thing of note. Even Kakisa's taunts and snide ones, barring the gaajar-mattar description of Dilsher and Danveer, fell flat. There was satisfaction in seeing Kakisa bested, but it was tempered immediately by the knowledge that Rudra isn't anywhere close to winning. And that Paro has lost in the immediate future, no matter what happens. The episode was a stark change of pace from the last two days of explosive, packed action. Today felt stretched with some unsatisfactory fillers.
The Sunehri scene was thankfully brief. Mythili's reading of Rudra was the silver lining in an otherwise cliched conversation. And Kakisa's innings was a bit too long and smug for my liking. Her lines lacked the kind of impact we've come to expect.
Acting-wise, it was Ashish's dazed walk into the haveli, that evoked honest emotion in me. And Ashish continued to ring true throughout his portrayal of the beleaguered Major who has finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel. đđ to him for this and to the actor who plays Danveer. The actress who plays Mythili was believable in parts . However, Kali Prasad Ji's acting felt a little forced and OTT at times.
Rangrasiya has been much, much better in the past and the dramatic precap makes me confident that we'll return to the show we all love tomorrow.
